  • should have made a bad ass gun mini gun

  • I've got the feeling that Blender was made by God or his archangels, I mean, there's no way a free application can be this fucking powerful

  • @Detallado Agreed. This software is almost as good as Maya, and IT'S OPEN SOURCED

  • My mind has been blown, again. God bless you blender

  • is there a way i could track say a small chromokey green ball with lets say flames to reenact lets just say a skyrim spell :3

  • Is the blender interface really good? Also how is the 3d texture painting coming along?

  • @fleshtheworld

The new interface is awesome actually.

  • AWESOME! Do yall have any advice on importing 3d tracking data into blender? Whenever I try to run a python script it says "python script fail, look in console for now". I've been trying to figure this out for over six months now.

    Brad

  • @JBHMEDIA If you have the latest linux version, you have to have a lib installed. I tried to find it and haven't had much success. Well I did find it but it has to be compiled. I'm not really up for that. I'll sticg with 2.6 and 2.4 for now. I use both simultaneously.

  • Can anyone provide a download link to a windows tomato build that has the object tracking feature? I've downloaded several from graphicall and non have the 'object' area in the panel.. or perhaps I'm doing something wrong?

  • please make a tutorial for this, when i tried to get a monkey-head on my rubics-cube i just got the shadow areas ...

    /watch?v=JZ9gZOfuTxY

  • Nice!

  • @ThoseFilmGuys also, thee software you mentioned is $4-5,000 total. Not $15,000.

  • @ThoseFilmGuys Blender's tracker doesn't have the accuracy or speed of Pftrack or syntey

  • MAKE CYCLES OPEN FOR OPENCL GPU! NOW!

  • cynthia?

  • One last thing, could you set up a bunch of tracking objects on someone's face, and parent some armatures (for a head model) to them? I haven't seen anything like that in Tomato- I should try it. (if you know it is impossible- please tell me)

  • @ThoseFilmGuys I'm pretty sure its possible. You could be able to get a facial mocap and parent the bones to the empties.

  • Dude! Why would I waste my time on a program like blender? I can easily do this with Syntheyes+Maya+AfterEffects!

Yep, I can easily do what this stupid software can do with other software that will only cost me about $15,000.

Oh, wait! This is all in one program, I don't have to transfer anything! If I make a mistake in an earlier step I don't have to redo everything! This is amazing!

Ps. I am a dedicated Blender user and open source fan, so to be fair, I guess I am biased. The only thing I

  • um..... what is she holding

  • Buena Demostracion de que hacer en blender

  • Yay - now we can do CG trombone cases too!!

Only jokin'! This is fab Sergey.

  • Heehee lightsabers.

  • is anyone else falling madly in love with suzanne?

  • @datblender Only if you're talking about the girl and not the monkey ;)

  • vodoo?

  • @ReymondCA nope, the new integrated camera tracker! (blender tomato)

  • this is amazing

  • I'm sure this involved a lot of computer work, but I fail to be impressed...

  • @renumeratedfrog this is a brand new feature okay? something exciting to the blender community, just accept the fact that is an amazing feature and go with it

  • Of course, the monkey HAS to be there.

  • @LordFhalkyn It wouldn't be a blender test without Suzanne

  • the tracking features should be accessible true the video editor that way we can fake a lot of 3d stuff like smoke as they do in after effects ( with further development) , if not already

  • blender has come so far. I'm glad i've always stayed with it.

  • Cool

  • FUCK YEAH!!!

WE GONNA KILL ALL OVERPRICED APPS

  • will this work with cycles when its done?

  • In my opinion the tracker in (general) is really poor.

They should look more to trackers like Boujou. that would be awesome!

    of course Blender style.

  • @multimediahelp1 Did you try it out...or do you see it as bad from these example videos?

  • It there any facility to get the lighting better? HDRI or Environment lighting system as well. The Objects were a bit bright for the scene and the shadows did not match well.

  • Next blender movie project. ? :)

  • @SuperCGpro Yup. The project will go under the name of Mango. It'll be a live action clip with VFX done in Blender. Preparation is already under way. Have a look at mangodotblenderdotorg

  • can you make a tutorial for this please?

  • @Margalus89

There are already plenty of them out there, just search for tracking + blender 2.6. I think some of the best are the Ones You find on "Blender Cookie", it's a series of 3 videos, on the URL:

    cgcookie.com/blender/2011/07/14/gsoc-tomato-branch-camera-tracking/

I think "blenderFoundation" used tutorial no.3 to make this video.

    Good luck with Your "Blending"

  • wait.. in the original footage there WASNT a giant monkey head in the background?

  • That's awesome! Thank you guys for making this software.

  • great work!

  • Sweet!

  • Object tracking

Now this is going to be an interesting few months with everybody running riot with it

    Great work guys

PS: Ninja Death Monkey at 0:07, bottum right of the screen

  • now that is *seriously* cool :D

  • We need tutorial for this!!! Thumbs UP! :D

  • @azmilarash96 there is one on blendercookie(dot)com

  • can be used as motion capture! no budget? heeee~ :D

  • Awesome, now for las tutoriale?

  • And this made me cry cause I want that badly.

  • @MrShoy Download the Tomato branch from Graphicall :)

  • this is great, I was always trying to make it with blender, but never got it that perfect .. by the way are you guys going to make something similar to planar tracking, which is a well mentioned word in the website you took the footage from !

  • next step is face and skeleton motion capture

  • @lo9765 hmm. AFAIK that was not the goal in this GSoC.

  • @vBlackVFX yeah but it's relatively easy to implement once object tracking is done

  • Mini gun anybody? Awwwww yeah.

  • Wait... last time I checked, Blender couldn't do object tracking. Is there a newer vs. of Tomato Branch that can??? I've been waiting for forever for this.

  • @AndreasLeidenfrost yes - thanks to youtube I can't post you the link but just search the GSOC tomato branch

  • Comment removed

  • Is this some sneaky test render for Mango?

  • this is very great,

  • Sergey is my hero

  • Ha ha I didn't even notice the monkey in the back XD I guess it makes it an official test then yay! :D

  • haha cool, i used this footage for my training xD

  • How can you track an object and the camera at the same time? I just did my first track, but I thought it only works for the camera.

  • Eng... Question for Sergey: Can you make video tutorial in russian please :)

Rus... Вопрос к Сергею: Можешь сделать видео тутор на русском? Пожалуйста :)

  • @KeistasZmogelig

I think blenderpanzi means capturing a persons moves and using that data to animate a rigged model in Blender. In that case it's a no.

  • how can I use the object tracking?

  • @vBlackVFX just wait santa claus for the astounding 2.61 release or find a download for the "tomato-branch" release then search some good free tutorial - I did so easily just with google

  • @soogoonu

    you misunderstood me!

i know how i can do the camera tracking!

i'd like to know, how the object tracking is done! (in this video the "gun"! (or wahtever it is))

  • @vBlackVFX I got it perfectly - if it is not obvious to you that the colored balls are used in this tracking session to track the gun, then you need a good tutorial to see it how it works. Object + camera tracking is not an easy topic to explain in just few words.

  • @soogoonu it's obvious to me tahta the balls are used to thrac the "gun"!

but AFAIK the tomato-tracker does only camera tracking and does not support object tracking! (and if you google for a tutrial, you'll only find camera tracking tutorials!)

  • @vBlackVFX on a second thought and rummaging in the latest tomato branch your point is correct - actually it do not allow a separate object and camera tracking. This means that is an upcoming feature - coming as christmas gift in the Blender 2.61 next release perhaps? let's write to santa claus ;c)

  • Awesome I tried to do this umm almost two years ago now when I did a work in school. I couldn't move the camera though but now it's possible :)

  • impressive

  • Can you use this for motion capturing?

  • @blenderpanzi I may be wrong about what you mean by asking this, but it just seems to be a dumb question, considering that the video specifically displays blenders motion capturing abilities.

  • @KeistasZmogelis I mean motion capturing of a human and transferring the movement to bones in blender. A skeleton with 2 arms, 2 legs, a head and a torso (that can bend to some extend) is surly more complex than a rigid weapon. But maybe there is no problem and it can be used for this kind of motion capturing?

  • Oh shit

    A huge monkeyhead ;D

  • fuckin' awesome!!! blenderfoundation, i love you. no, i mean it. i fuckin' love you guys. the best resource for artists who don't have access to high dollar colleges and expensive programs like maya, and you keep making it better and better. no atter what, i'm staying with blender and if ever i make it, i'm supporting you guys 100%

  • @WarriorPhoenixMedia infact, i have maya, 3ds, inventor, mudbox, although blender is slower, it is by far the highest quality and easiest to use in most cases in my personal opinion

  • now we can do better works :D

  • Awesome !

  • Object tracking ??? It's gonna be legen *wait for it* dary !

  • Object tracking, F**K YEAH!

  • Awesome! is this just with Blender, or with some added script? Thx

  • @JoaoAlv3s It's the new camera tracker. It will be released with the next version of Blender as far as I know.

  • @AniCator cool! thank you

  • @JoaoAlv3s Just Blender.

  • @pobuoow it's gonna be awesome! thanx

  • @JoaoAlv3s Just blender. Blender 2.61 will have motion tracking. Released on december 2011.

  • nice!

  • Comment removed

  • Muito Bom!

  • I'm looking foward for a more stable version, because now when I try to track it just crashes everytimes.

  • Looks awesome and considering Blender is free, With Cycles it's an unbeatable combination!

  • awesome!

    when does it come out

  • @heidaz It should be in the next full release of blender (2.60) but if you can't wait you can find a prototype version of it on GraphicAll(dot)org

  • @heidaz Blender 2.61, including Cycles (Early version of blenders new render engine) and Camera tracking will be released somewhere in the first half of decemper 2011.
