As long as we are seen as occupiers by resentful people, and why shouldn't they be resentful, we have done some major damage to their country with no real provocation, our military in the region will be a target. Face it. Military means are NOT a good way to change anything. We need someone that has a little more than the biggest gun in his pocket.
Japan is a different story. Different people, different culture, less heat to fry the brains. Also they were militaristic and accepted their loss.

I realize your comment is 3 months old but there is a BIG difference between Japan and Iraq. Do you really think that the violence will EVER stop? There are many in Japan that still want the US out of the area. The people of the same mindset in Iraq WILL use deadly force to drive home the point, you can bet on that. It will never end as long as we are there.

In the full context of his 100 year war statement, he says "as long as our people aren't dying." They are dying now and yet he wants to remain, so clearly he is duplicitous on the issue.
The neocon warmongers don't get it. We are in debt up to our eyeballs to COMMUNIST CHINA in order to pay for our stupid war on a country that NEVER ATTACKED us.
