  • Minecraft brought me here. XD

  • I'VE NEVER SEEN AN OCELOT!

  • archer brought me here

  • they shouldn't and NEVER be pets, and I get it there coats are pretty but once there gone you can't bring them back. Then so many people won't be able to see these amazing cats in the wild! I know I would like to see one, I can if there population doesn't drop anymore than it is.

  • @WolvesShadow14 Unfortunately all species go extinct bringing rise to new species just the way of nature, not saying that we should endanger them anymore then they are, I'd kill to still have wooly mammoths as a child I always wanted one..

  • im shallalashaka allso could revovler......

  • my schools mascot is the ocelots

  • thumbs up if you researched this cat after seeing drake on mediatakeout owning one

  • @ShowChinoTV lmao i did

  • IVE NEVER SEEN AN OCELOT!

  • Very decent, informative video. Thanks a lot, I enjoyed watching this!

  • Welcome to the Ocelot species spotlight.

I play Ocelot as a jungler.

  • Most beautiful animal in the world.

  • this was really well done, cheers

  • holy shit, I've never seen an ocelot!

    look at his little spots!

    look at his tufted ears!

  • PARAMEDIC:mmmmm strange he uses the name of an american wild cat

SNAKE:yeah maybe it has to do that hes fast and agial like an ocelot

    PARAMEDIC:mmm maybe

  • As Woodrow Wilson's 15th point says: Ocelots are awesome

  • One of these guys is living near my house-the smell is not nice-but he eats the rats and snakes-so that's good-.

  • Hisssss...

  • how is Amazing Grace doing?

  • @DerynRavenous She's doing grreat, greeted me with her little growl noise this morning :)

  • @BigCatRescue that is wonderful! i am so glad to hear that

  • That cats pretty good

    =d("_"=d)

  • Beautiful cat and in my but the sound it makes it's scary, right boys and girls ? :)

  • Such a beautiful cat.

  • 1:02 Ocelots eat snakes?? Weird... Never knew that, but it definately adds a new twist to the Ocelot character of Metal Gear Solid.

  • @herofromthedark

It's always interesting to find facts of a character's (code)name that isn't stated in the story such as what you pointed out, as well as the whole "Jack" and "Rose" thing.

  • Archer brought me here! Thank you and good night!

  • watch howard bloom's story about an ocelot- very interesting

  • Therve got a very buetifull pattren ... Very awsome cats !! :D !

  • Can I have one as a pet nowadays?

  • great video. keep informing people about wildlife and what to do to save it.

  • Beautiful animal. Thanks for sharing

  • today In El Salvador there is a city called Usulutan which in the Native indigenous language means "City of The Ocelot" because there was a huge population of ocelots before the Spanish conquered El Salvador

  • @atlacatl89laesis That's interesting...

  • @BigCatRescue Thanks, although i think that due to deforestation, the Ocelots that once lived in Usulutan, El Salvador are not so present anymore...sadly : / .... but they are in neighboring countries

  • @atlacatl89laesis those assho spaniards!

  • Absolutely gorgeous animal.

  • look at his tufted ears!!

  • I saw one of these beautiful cats in a small animal rescue center when I lived in Panama. When i got close to it's cage it started purring just like in the beginning of this video which startled me a bit. But I soon found out all it wanted was a little attention and someone to pet it. This was one of the coolest moments of my life...

  • You're not a snake, and I'm not an ocelot. We're men with names. My name... is Adamska. And you?

  • My landlord told me she had one of these when she lived in South America in the 70's... she said it was the friendliest pet she's ever had. It would suckle on her thumb and cuddle with them. Such a beautiful cat, of course I would not condone people getting these on impulse, it's always a shame when people jump the gun on decisions about getting exotic pets...

  • "Holy shit! Look at his little spots!"

    "It's like meowschwitz in there!"

  • what kind of animal is an ocelot anyway?, it's like a bobcat or something, well, you could be revolver bobcat :3

  • egoraptor approval -.^

  • I love cats! ^_^

  • Magnifique mp

  • Its like meowschwitz in there

  • 10 people were rodents, birds, lizards, monkeys, small deer, anteaters etc...

  • snake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • id love to own one but id need more money to keep it happy and just being able to purchase one doesn't mean you should

  • @elUnderscore rodents, birds, lizards, monkeys, small deer, anteaters etc...

  • @BigCatRescue How big was the largest Ocelot?

  • @nostopsnopurgatory Most books say they can grow to 40lbs, although larger specimens have been recorded.

  • Holy Shit you guys, look at his little spots!

    and his tufted ears!

  • Damn nature you scary!

  • If ANYONE even thinks of making such an awesome animal into a coat....i'll send an army of penguins to F**K YOU UP! >:O

  • Well. They call them wildcats for a reason

  • Is it just me, or do cats that hang around in trees alot like the ocelot and leopard etc do they have a slightly longer neck than cats that do not? like lions and tigers?

That's something I've just noticed now.

  • @nddlj I don't think so, it may just look that way in certain shots?

  • @nddlj That actually makes sense since these more agile animals have a much more longelineous anatomy.

  • my favorite big cats are ocelots and leopards

  • i act like cats sometimes, i don't realize it at the time. people have told me, later in time, i acted weird, like a cat. i love cats and i can tame any cat.

  • That's a good looking kitty! But it belongs in the wild

  • @RebeltilliDie45 Unfortunately it's legal in many states, however these cats make terrible "pets" they're expensive to keep, wild animals and can be unpredictable and dangerous, plus ocelots really stink and they spray on EVERYTHING to mark their territory!

  • @BigCatRescue Ok thank you cause i wanted one but thank you for letting me know

  • @BigCatRescue what about the ALC for a pet?

  • @l3etterlife ???

  • @BigCatRescue why the ???

  • @l3etterlife what about the ALC for a pet? I do not understand?

  • @BigCatRescue you said ocelots are bad pets, im asking about asian leopard cats?

  • @l3etterlife No wild species of cat will ever be truly domesticated, they will always retain their wild instincts and will always be dangerous and unpredictable. Please don't support the trade in these animals as so called "pets" These animals don not belong in backyards...

  • Archer

  • speaking of domesticated house cats. why do people seem to hate them and abuse them more than any other domesticated animals? I'm a bigtime cat lover and maybe(hopefully) these cases just standout more to me and i notice them more. but it does seem to be a fact that there is no shortage of cases of people abusing cats. sometimes i think it's just because cats are small and more defenseless. a cat's heart is huge though. they don't come more loving than cats. i own cats & dogs, both are great.

  • can the ocelots sometimes be solid black? great video. thanks.

  • @SurfariMex There may have been reports of them in the wild, but they are always specimens with larger rosettes, so they appear black from a distance but are not :)

  • DAXTER!

  • get a maine coon. don't try to upset the ......evolution of cats. trust me. i know.

  • I like ocelots there so cute and they can climb

  • I have a question. Can this type of wild cat fire a revolver?

  • the Fossa is another more adapted arboreal Cat

  • I saw one of these on my street this morning

My mom freaked out but i thought it was cool

  • ocelots are so cute! i even made a video of one!

  • Ocelot is susceptible of domestication, where among people from early childhood.

  • beautiful thing

  • illegal poaching is like illegal liquar or moon shine. hey, there are people out there that are working on it all the time, it just doesn't seem so. some dude in castalia, NC is killing racoons out of season? freezing them and then selling them later, in season, for thier coats. they say the eyes are a different color when they freeze them, i don't know? the local gov./ no... officials don't care. "you ready to play poker this weekend? yeah". same responce to drugs in their county.

  • i wish i could own an ocelot

  • Do the cats big and small let you pet them? Or do they just run away?

  • @Petdoc1991 We don't have any contact with our cats it's way too dangerous and gives people the wrong impression especially when we are trying to end private possession of these animals :)

  • I want to steal a kitten one from a mother then raise it in my apartment - this will domesticate it to like people. The thing is too small to be dangerous to humans-- just give it some 'tough love' when it gets out of place, I could domesticate this cat with a rolled up sunday paper and a spray bottle of water in no time. This cat looks misearble caged up in his faux outdoor prison. Its not up to hippys to decide if I can have this cat or not. I hate liberal envoronmentalist types

  • @phillymiata You're wrong, you could control this smaller species but you will never domesticate it, they will always spray EVERYWHERE to mark their territory, couch, kitchen, walls (which would then need to be replaced to get rid of the smell)

  • ITS NOT OVER YET SNAKE!!!!

    (very informative and interesting video)

  • @ArtlessIb XD i get it

  • Is it possible to domesticate these animals?

  • @dabouncer99 The simple answer is no. No matter what species or size wild species of cats will always be wild, despite what breeders and animal exploiters may tell you, they will always be dangerous and unpredictable.

  • @BigCatRescue Unpredictable I understand, dangerous... perhaps. I understand the reasons why groups like yours discourage private ownership of larger cats.. but, do you really think that in EVERY case larger cats cannot live a domestic life? I'm not being a troll i'm just trying to get further explanation of what seems like a stonewall opinion on this groups part on domestic ownership of larger cats. Thanks.

  • @TrippleLee Sure there have been wild species of cats that live a captive life in domestic surroundings, but does this make it right? NO. Does this mean the cat will always be safe? NO. Does this mean people will keep losing their lives around the United States as a result of being attack by privately owned big cats? YES. Will this abuse and danger to the public continue unless laws are changed? YES.....

  • @BigCatRescue Not trying to argue but can't most animals be domesticated through thousands of years domestication?

  • @0bobbey0 I like to say they can "tolerate people" after thousands of years, many domestic cats I know are still very much wild. There is no reason to try and domesticate wild cat species for next thousand years, do you agree?

  • @BigCatRescue Yeah i toatly agree. Wild animals belong in the WILD. Duh :P

  • @BigCatRescue I've also noticed this. To further that point- you don't find very many successful packs of feral dogs. But even the most sheltered cats can almost instantly revert to the behaviors of their wild ancestors.

  • liquid ocelot brought me here

  • Revolver Ocelot will kill us all! Snake-LIQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUIIIIIIIID!!!

  • What is being done about illegal poaching and preserving habitats? to me poaching seems like a big problem that can't be dealt with by organizations and has to be left in the hands of local governments, and to be honest some of the governments where these animals live don't seem capable of controlling that.

  • look at their pelts, it seems to ripple and merge around them. Beautiful. :)

  • rarrrr there so vicious but cute too

  • It bothers me that people want to raise wild cats (Tigers to Bobcats to Servals and every other cat) as pets. It took thousands of years for the domestication of house cats to be successful. It will never happen with big/wild cats. Ocelots are such beautiful creatures. I hate how so many have been slaughtered for fur coats.

  • @BigCatRescue

    do you have any jaguars?

  • @bunpika121 No, these are one of the species we do not have at BCR....

  • I have an awesome tattoo of an ocelot,I love them and support NOT having them as pets or any other wild animal because that fact is that most just make AWFUL pets and end unwanted and uncared for and the animal is much better off in the wild. I figured the tattoo would be much better then actually having one.

  • I love ocelots!

  • I don't know if anyone has already asked this, but don't they climb out of the fences or really tall trees?

  • @sincubus All our enclosures have roofs to prevent this :)

  • they have a very strong scent I heard from the urineee

  • I really really want one, but i realise that i can never care for a pet like this, And it is because of my love for these animals i wont keep one as pet. Its not about me and what i want, Its about animals like these and what they need. They are so beautiful though, my biggest wish is to see one of these IRL some day.

  • A few people keep these guys as pets here in Colombia.

Hell I am interested in buying one.

  • @CodeXplosion We wouldn't recommend this, these cats are wild and will always be that way no matter what you do, they are also very stinky, they spray on everything to mark their territory and ocelots are especially smelly, they require specialist vet care, are expensive to feed and if you want to go on vacation what do you do with your "pet" ocelot ???

  • @BigCatRescue

Why is it people have them as pets here. I knew a domesticated one and it acted like a normal cat. They kept him in a large ranch. They were able to feed the Ocelot and the family is VERY poor. So it can't be that expensive.

  • @CodeXplosion It depends if it was on a good diet or not, they may act domesticated at times but this isn't the case they will always retain their wild instincts....

  • where can i get one?

  • What will become of these Ocelots?

  • @SinfulOcelot Do you mean the ocelots at the sanctuary or ocelots in the wild ?

  • @BigCatRescue I said it in the context you can't understand unless you've played the video game Metal Gear Solid :)

  • i think ocelots and servals are the most beautiful cats of them all... i often had the thougt of getting one... but it would be cruel to the animal, and so i would never get one... :) but the dream lives strong, but will never happen :)

  • i say much peaple are not know what the anaimal can do if you buy them the most wild cats or other animals the are NOT belong to a house the belong to WILD the are born ther not at a HOUSE i wish i can buy this cat but my country wont aloud it how ever i like the idea be cose the belong to the wild not in a house greatings wild lover

  • check 0:05 ...how u gonna tame that bad ass !! And why would u even want to water down such a beautifully intense creature

  • I found an ocelot in the wild and i tried to buy him. I threw him 20 bucks but he just jumped on me, clawed my eyebrows out, and lowered my self esteem. How much do these exotic cats actually cost!?

  • They sound pretty vicious too...

  • good info, especially about the border fence keeping wildlife from living their normal lives and causing them to die out.

  • HAHA...how the HELL did anyone ever think they could tame this creature? Look at him climb that fence! Thats insane. He would TEAR your house, you, and anything else up!

  • I HATE 7 PEOPLE! I HOPE AN OCELOT KILLS THEM AND SCRATCHES THEIR FACES OFF!!!!!! >:O

  • @FallingNowhere only 7?

  • How can anyone think of trying to make one of these guys into a pet? Besides being harmful to both parties you will never know the true beauty of one of these cats until you see them in a natural habitat.

  • Thats major ocelot to you

  • Thats major ocelot to you.

  • So this is where revolver ocelot got his name...

  • Ocelots have been domesticated in some areas where they co-exist with man, like the amazon, but I don't think they'd make a good pet in Suburban USA - you couldn't let one roam like a domestic cat. Also, having been up close to (and even petted) a tame one in Manaus I can tell you that wherever the Ocelot goes, so too does a truly overpowering odour of cat wee-wee.

  • Your subscription to BigCatRescue has been added.

  • plz help. i saw a wildlife docu on tv about the wildlife of spain and there was this wierd mammal that i think is a cat but it was very long and stretched out in its body and its neck, i really want to see more film and photos of them but cant track down, would help if knew what this species was called, it looked really wierd and cool

  • I'm glad to see YouTube being used to raise awareness about the environment.

Keep up the good work :)

  • sooo gorgeous- i live in dallas they wouldnt be native to anywhere around here would they??

  • look at him waiting to bite that guys finger off

  • Fences along the border hurting the ocelot... just feed the illegals TO the ocelots...problem solved

  • this animal is fucking sexy

  • what beautiful animals...

  • i'd like to ask BCR something , i have done tons of research and im really dedicated , i'm going to Catproof my house in any way and keep no other pets and have alot of space for my Maybe Future Ocelot , what do you ppl think about me getting a ocelot in about 4 years , yes 4 years , i want to do as much as Research possible . i dont want to make them suffer :( , im also going to study zoölogy and the branch of mammalogy and i want to do something like all of you at BCR when i'm older. =]

  • @nafaka12 Hi, no matter what you do or how much research you get behind you, keeping exotic wild cat species as so called "pets" will always be wrong, we are 100% against the private ownership of these cats. So many of our rescues are unwanted pets that people no longer want after realizing what a huge mistake they have made. Ocelots are especially bad, they have very strong urine which they spray on everything to mark their territory, please save yourself lots of money and rescue a domestic cat

  • @BigCatRescue Are they giving them up because they realize how there in over their heads? Or is it that banning ownership of these animals is forcing them to surrender? Hmm? Im going with the second option.

  • @TheSolaceDream Hi, sorry for the late reply, most owners are giving them up because they have discovered what a huge mistake they have made, or circumstances in their personal life have changed and they can no longer care for their cats etc...

  • @BigCatRescue

I agree that in 99% of cases it's not a good idea, but to say there is something inherently wrong about it or that it will always be that way seems very strange to me, considering that every domesticated species on Earth was wild at one point. It is natural for people to want to be stewards for animals. It's just a shame that the majority of people are really bad at it...

  • @nafaka12 Buying these cats also encourages the exotic pet trade which means more big cats living miserable lives in backyards :(

  • @BigCatRescue Not every exotic pet owner treats there animal like shit. Some love there pets very much, and I highly doubt their pets are miserable at all.

  • @SETHHIKARU This is true, but it still doesn't make it right to buy wild species of cats

  • @SETHHIKARU i say much peaple are not know what the anaimal can do if you buy them the most wild cats or other animals the are NOT belong to a house the belong to WILD the are born ther not at a HOUSE i wish i can buy this cat but my country wont aloud it how ever i like the idea be cose the belong to the wild not in a house greatings wild lover

  • @BigCatRescue If the owner had a big backyard with an enclosure that strongly resembled the animals natural habitat, im not sure it would be such a miserable life :)

  • @humanpotential7 I'm sure it would, we do all we can for our cats with huge natural enclosures, regular enrichment and a great diet, but they still have that look in their eyes that they don't want to be stuck in a cage.

  • @nafaka12 owning an ocelot would be an extremely selfish thing to do, no matter how you want to justify it

  • @nafaka12 Dont listen to them do your research and encourage responsible exotic animal ownership take a look at this sight.

  • @nafaka12 dont listen to them do your god given task of being stewards and care takers for his creatures.

  • @nafaka12 i think u should work under these professionals before really going into it since it's a big job even after all ur studies n researches...

  • cunaguaros are so awesome, this one is revolver ocelot

  • Is ur rarest cat a white Ocelot?

  • @egohaslanded2001 Nope, we have two white servals though, the only two we know of in the world.

  • The border fence can't stop a short mexican with 100 Kilos of MJ on his back from coming across. I hardly think this expert climber would let a fence get in their way.

But good job of bringing a political discussion into the non political subject of animal conservasion .

  • Great and Beautiful animal i am only 12 yrs. old and im trying to appreciate wildlife all over the world an i have been noticing that humans are ruining the world to think that without so many humans on earth we could still have so many extinct animals back today and if you can i encourage you to tell everyone about these beautiful creature and our overall wildlife

  • @XxSmilE4TheKillCamxX Thanks for watching our videos! We are doing our best to help animals, hope you continue to do the same :)

  • Comment removed

  • I can't believe this guy, the border fence has less to do with the Ocelots being able to spread out from South Texas than the the fact that they will need to know how to swim across the Rio Grande to do so, lame political pitch there. Btw the only population of Ocelots left in the U.S. is in South Texas at the Laguna Atascosa. This guy does not have his facts straight, find someone else to represent your organization!

  • is it safe to donate with google checkout?

  • @coppurt Yep, absolutely! :) Thanks for the support!

  • BCR, I applaud what you are doing for these animals. After reading the comments, this is all I have to say.. the only cat you should have as a pet is one from the pound or rescue/adoption agencies. Period.

  • hi,i like to know if you have a species spotlight about another cat called a Margay and a Black Footed Cat

  • @pokeboy85 No sorry we don't, we don't have either species at the sanctuary, we are producing a species spotlight on the canadian lynx and geoffroy cat though.

  • hmmm but domestic cats are small- the most harm they can do when feral is give you a good scratch... wild cats... even "tame" can kill you-.... yeah there is a problem owning big cats....

  • @nineri Good view on the issue :)

  • Such a beautiful animal.
