Hi radddogg, this is an excellent video, but due to the music used in this clip, it would at first not show in my country: As the German performance rights association GEMA and Youtube cannot find a common ground about fees charged for the artists GEMA claims to represent, Youtube blocks this entire clip. Could you upload this video with the music disabled? (Firefox users can use ProxTube to watch the video, but IE, Opera and Chrome users can not).
@XcellentShots Anything malleable really as long as it won't melt. If you haven't got anything then just layer it up with loads of layers of foil and tape but beware you have to use lots!!! If you don't protect the switches they WILL melt!
@MaXeEmOe could be months, could be years. One of mine has been going over three years now.
I've made a slight change to the way I do this now. I preheat the chip dies and board with a hot air gun now to ensue they get fully up to temperature.
@DeadlyJun I assume that most people trying this won't have access to liquid flux. Plus we're not creating new solders here, just rejuvenating the original solders then supporting with X clamp replacement. Incidentally, the only one I've ever had popcorn was one I loaded with liquid flux.

It's work if i remplace the "Play do" by "bluetack" please ?
Lamastik0t 3 months ago
@Lamastik0t Yes, but you need to use a lot of it otherwise the heat will get through and melt your switches

@radddogg Thank you. I made the manipulation, and that worked ;)

Why do you use a heat gun, is it necessary, how does it help hit
dgek619 3 months ago
@dgek619 it just preheats the chip dies so they get up to temp quicker in the oven which helps to reflow the solder balls

Cool video. I'm tired of fixing mine and your approach looks to be a pretty long fix. Do you have a time frame on how long this'll last? Thanks!
