I wonder how far along Grace was in her pregnancy at this point. China was born in January of 1971 so I'm pretty much guessing that she was about three to four months in.
I remember trying to get in to see JA but there was a riot. They were much better live than people give them credit for. Yes, their performances were inconsistent but when they were on they had such feeling ... I didn't get this from other bands, even of that time. It wasn't so much the individual songs ... it was an immersive experience. I think that is what I am trying to convey. You had to be there and then to appreciate the sounds.
Grace et al. 1970. Fantastic. When they were at Woodstock the performance was good too ... better than Grace would have you believe. What band today would stay up all night and play first thing in the morning? So so acoustics and all.
A firey, passionate version, with some great vocal improvs by Slick, even though Marty does look disconnected by this point. One of my favorite versions of this...
Marty's there....The close-up of him starts at 00:47...But his hair is long, so he looks different, and he's not very happy. He quit the band soon after that tour.
Whatev's. We all know now when it wasn't, but can we all get together on on what it IS, man. Picture & sound's great, & the music is driving Grace fast, furious & flying off a cliff... We're all mad here. & there'll be nothing left hereafter when I die
Billygo 10 is correct; it was 1970 ...Joey had replaced Spencer on drums sprimg of that year....plus look at Grace and Marty's haircuts. This was 1970 and whoever printed 1967 is dead wrong.

Well, Kantner knocked her up and she gave birth in 1971...guess that's what made her look older!

In my opinion, when J.A ventured further with their their live music became more dominated and driven by Jack and Jorma.
