  • I know I'm late to the party, but just picked up XNA a while back and this is very inspiring. How long would you say it took you guys to build? I've about completed a 2D tower defense game (learning XNA) and would love to get started on a 3d one.

  • @unafragger Depends on your programming level. We were amateurs with little experience beyond introductory programming courses. It took us around 2 months of part-time effort. Have fun!

  • по тяге жеж кому-то в такую хуету рубиться

  • Whoo, finally got this working on my good computer and after hitting wave 100 it seriously began lagging. Not that I'm complaining, a large scale tower defense game like this I never expected to make it this far in the game. Still going on, my defense is for the most part self sustaining now unless you coded in surprises.

  • @valide1

No surprises unfortunately -- it's not really the most balanced or complex game, and was mostly just a course project that took up a lot of time. Glad you found it interesting though. Thanks!

  • @jstoecker911 It is certainly one of the best tower defense games I've ever played, it is rare to find large scale ones that are challenging. I haven't been able to nail down a sure-fire way to win, I can't even replicate how I got to the self-sustaining defense, so you have to give yourself credit for a game that never works the same way twice.

  • so what course are you doing?

  • dang i came really late to the xna party..

    just starting my game :(

  • Does it work on windows 7? Cus its not working for me. And by the way the weapons do look underpowered, but i'd have to find out for myself i guess. Looks good tho.

  • This is brilliant! The fact that you have made the source code available is even better. You see so many videos of peoples games, but you have no idea how to make them.

  • does this game uses a pathfinding algorytm or it's just a predefined way

  • @ages987

The path is just a directed graph (set of connected waypoints). When a unit reaches a waypoint, it chooses a connected waypoint randomly.

  • This is extremely cool and it's made me have a go at making my own tower defence game.

    well done, great work!

  • awesome man. looks pretty epic. downloading now.

  • Very nice! I think you shuold increase the weapons strenght, or lower the enemies health for a 'better' perhaps, longer gameplay.

  • pretty baller

  • pretty cool game! just downloaded it and had a go.

a windowed mode would be nice!

    keep developing!!

  • Updated description with a download link for the source code and compiled version. Please check out the readme for notes.

  • That is cool, you definitely need to release it.

  • Wow... looks good :)

  • Is there a download? Looks pretty awesome.

  • This is so cool. Is there any way you would make this open source? I am a growing developer, but i have to learn mostly on my own, and a recent project of mine was to make a tower defense game in xna and i would love to see how you approached it. I wont steal any code and if i use anything ill give you credit.

  • Thanks. I'll have to ask my group mates on this project if they mind. One thing to keep in mind is we had 3 people programming it... and none of us *really* knew what we were doing at the time. I can definitely promise you it's not the nicest looking (or efficient!) code.

  • Really nice!!!

  • Weapons look underpowered...

  • looks rad! can't wait to play!

  • Nice! I like this kind of game and i like your implementation.
