  • Hey. Great video. Like the way you got Io in on the act :) Has your cam got a zoom function or is that the magnification just with the Barlow? My 8" is coupled to an SPC900NC with 2x Barlow and the image is half that size without any zoom.

  • @Lunaticus1973 That's just with the 2x barlow, but I did resample it up about 50% after stacking. The camera also has a zoom function, but I only use that for casual observing and focusing. I do seem to get a little more than 2x out of my barlow natively though (at least compared to my LPI); due to all the adapters I use to go from C-mount to t-mount to 1.25", the chip sits back farther from the barlow than with most cameras so you get a bit of additional magnification out of it.

  • @rfnking11 Jupiter rotates at such a fast speed that long exposure or long video segments blur with rotation. This lends itself to turn animations.Because of this, using a non-Equatorial mount is fine, the erratic arc is the Alt-Az up, down, left, right tracking. It's hard to explain but if you load Stellarium (free software, google it) or any planetarium software and track you will see a planet rise with it's left side down and set with it's right side down
