if lebron had stayed in cleveland, this is the type of reception he would've had with or without a championship ring, atleast the fans all over the world will respect him...now, its all down the drain, you cant put "RESPECT" and "LEBRON" in the same sentence anymore, unless you're a heat..
@indikid24 what most people don't understand is that the pacers (much like the lebron aftermath in cleveland and many more I can't think off the top of my head) wanted to change their image after the brawl and try to get that asterisk off the name and pinstripes from that frightful day. Plus the nba was changing dramatically in the mid-late 2000s.
Ahh the good old days before all of these spoiled brats joined the NBA! It seems as though people like Reggie, Micheal, Larry, Magic, Bill, Dr. J, Kareem, Patrick, Dominique are few and far between in the NBA now, such a shame. Reggie is a class act plain and simple!
I am a die hard Knicks fan, have suffered from 92 - on but I will say this Reggie Miller is the man. He went against the odds, he was a great player man. HOF bound IMO
@jk08PHS,i feel u bro.Being a loyal Knick fan,i couldnt stand Reggie Miller but I definately respected him as a Knick nemesis and his intensity as well.Im witchu ,i miss players like Reggie,Hardaway n other Nba villians that made watchin bball fun, even wit Lebron as the new player every1 loves to hate, the L is still boring
If only Ron Artest was able to control himself enough not to get suspended for the remainder of the year. The pacers were doing great before the brawl.
Sometimes it's not just about talent, money or championships, but about heart and loyalty! That's what's wrong in the nba today, no whatter what will happen in the future, but lebron, anthony and whonot will never have the same status as jordan, bird, magic, stockton or reggie!
only a few hard and loyal wotkers left in the nba nowadays (kobe, dirk, pierce, duncan...). don't wanna watch nba when those guys rerite as well...
6 years today. We miss you man, your a real inspiration to so many people and have so much respect by Pacer fans if not any basketball fan. You are still arguably the greatest 3 point shooter of all time.
This is so sad, but some dont get it. Reggie said had he been Lebron he MAY have made the same choice. That he can NEVER add a ring to his resume. This guy is one of the greats and its awesome the reception he got. I grew up watching him and this was epic. He struggled for 18 years to get a championship and never could. Thats why people like Kobe and Lebron needed help because this would been them. Playing forever without anything at the end. Great respect to this player and a good man.
The strange think is, I didn't like Reggie when he played. But now, I miss him being in the NBA. I guess it's one of those things where you feel some sort of attachment, just a guy you love to hate. I agree with slimshaid, the league needs a player like him.
Wow, I'm not a Pacers fan but this gives me goosebumps. There's going to be alot of tears in the Staples Centre the day Kobe retires. I can tell you that now. Much respect to Reggie though. You truly deserved a ring.
This is something that only a few guys in the league will get when they hang it up. Off the top of my head, Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, and Tim Duncan. A standing ovation from the home crowd when they finally hang it up.
imagine if lebron's last game was in cleveland with him in the miami heat. the cavs a better team that time. i dont know wad will happen, but i think it will be ugly.
@Elmaln Reggie will get in. I think he's eligible next year and he'll probably get in on the first ballot. Not so sure about Rodman though. As much as he deserves to be inducted, it'll take years until he finally gets in. Rodman didn't make a lot of friends with the media.
Reggie is one of the greatest of all time... His play and character is what made him a great basketball player.... Now if Lebron had chosen this path and not win a ring, he may have still had a legacy worth mentioning.
I remember this game back in 2005, I'm a pistons fan but it's sad to see a classy player and person like Reggie Miller end his career the way it ended but and I'm very relieved that they moved on to the ECF that year... Thanks Reggie!
Didn't like Reggie and the Pacers simply because they were a great threat to the Bulls and always played them tough. But I was a grade schooler/junior high, and years later, I grew to respect Reggie a lot and what competition is all about. He could easily be debated into one of the greatest ever to not have won a title.
As a Bulls fan, I did not like Miller haha. But as a basketball fan, this made me tear up a little, he was a great, great player. Whenever the Pacers played the Knicks, I was GLUED to my t.v. Nothing but respect for REGGIE!
the nba needs guys like reggie back. Reg had that heart that you don't see so often anymore. He was a pacer for life, stuck with his team forever and never tried to join a contender in his final years to try and get a ring he didn't fully earn. i miss the old nba of jordan, magic, bird, pippen, etc.
@zunino85 exactly the same here. Grew up cheering for the pacers. I was visiting relatives in New York this night, a few days later his picture of this game was already up on the NBA store there. 90s NBA ftw!!
The year after when the Pacers lost to the Nets, i almost lost all interst in the NBA as a whole. Still a Pacer fan, but When Reggie retired, i just didn't feel the same. I love Reggie. So much heart, 18 years in Indiana and never went elsewhere. Love him.
reggie vs spike, vs the knicks, it was good for the game of basketball. too bad he didn't get the rings. after all, he is from california. and he decided to stick it out in a decidely smaller venue in indy. too bad he's gone from the game
it was great for the game of nba basketball. i mean, reggie vs spike lee, vs the knicks; that was good for the fans of either team; made it exciting. it's too bad he didn't get the rings
I don't think a whole lot of people understand how good some of those Pacer teams he was on were. Especially the 1998 team. Their 1998 was one of the most underrated teams in the history of that league. That team was absolutely loaded - Reggie, the Dutchman, Rose, Davis boys, Best, etc. I am almost certain that if the Pacers would have won Game 7 against the Bulls that year (and they were THISclose), Reggie would have his title. Sad.
I've always hated Reggie when he got battles against Michael Jordan at the 90's, but now, I have to say I'M SORRY REGGIE. I didn't know how hard you worked when you were a kid to get this incredible clutch skill . Beyond the Glory showed me the Reggie's other side face. God bless you, man! Basketball fans will never forget you!! Thank you!!
It's always sad when a legend leaves the game. I was fortunate to have shook his hand and exchange a few words with Reggie when he was in Hawaii at A resturant called Feng Shei. He seems like a very humble guy. One of the G.O.A.T.
exactly, the Pacers court is trash now. Who else had a yellow court? It was a purely yellow court. Now their uniforms and court are trash, no uniqueness. But i guess, they got it right. Since Reggie left (and they changed the jerseys and court0, the court and the Pacers record has gotten uglier.
they would be no tayshawn prince and rip hamilton and ect.. if it wasnt for reggie he made it possible for the slim slanky guys to actually be a force in the league cuz you know most of the times as soon as a scout sees you first thing he will say hes to skinny he wont be abole to survive in the league either that or they make you hit the weight room ya remember how they was making big deal about durant couldnt bench press his own body weight well reggie made possible 4 guys like that
i don't know it is very close, i think that reggie might have been a better shooter and offensive player but he didn't have the defenensive and rebounding ability that larry bird had
yo know how many should of could of would'ves was said like that in the 90s lmaoo reggie wasnt the only one ask barkley stockton and malone ewing ect.... micheal over shadowed everybody cuz when your the best thats what you do :)
I'm a Cleveland Cavaliers fan and this was as classy as it could get. I have seen several Cavs-Pacers games in person over the years. #31 put the Pacers franchise on the national map of awareness of being a good NBA team. 6 East Finals appearances ('94, '95, '98, '99, '00, and '04) and a Finals appearance in 2000. Reggie is Mr. Indiana Pacer.
Reggie Miller......the greatest pure shooter in the HISTORY of the league! O yea and the greatest actor too (the way he took an Iverson charge would have u believing A.I. was 300 pounds!!)
that dude got incredible range and let me tell y'all about where he ranks in the list of the all-times greatest clutch performers....he's greater than many players when it comes to that.....maybe after jordan, bird, magic he's the 4th best in that category.
Man, I'm going to sound weak but, I remember watching this game live hoping to God he was going to hit that last 3 he missed. When Larry Brown called that time-out to show his respect I got to admit I got teary...
im a big pistons fan, and i remember when dis happend, thouh i was only 11 i still loved the pistons and was upset to see reggie go. but life goes on. GO PISTONS!!!

i don't know it is very close, i think that reggie might have been a better shooter and offensive player but he didn't have the defenensive and rebounding ability that larry bird had

one of the greatest players in the game, overshadowed by mj.
i saw many pacers-bulls games, if mj and reggie didnt play in the same time, he would have at least one nba title

Indiana Pacer.

that dude got incredible range and let me tell y'all about where he ranks in the list of the all-times greatest clutch performers....he's greater than many players when it comes to that.....maybe after jordan, bird, magic he's the 4th best in that category.
