I doubt there's many UK cadets of a certain age that didn't get their first taste of flying in a Chippie. Maybe why it's still so popular today as you never forget your first! ;-)
I too, flew in one of these while in the ATC at RAF Stradishall, in 1954. We dived on a guy driving a tractor and passed between two trees. The farmer must have sh*t himself, the plane was full of puke from previous cadets, and the pilot was a nutcase. A memorable first flight for me!
I have to be the luckiest lady alive. I have flown WK559 to both Oshkosh and Sun n Fun and can honestly say she is one first-class aeroplane and I am very grateful indeed for the privilege.
i remember the chipmunk i flew these in ATC then went onto the jet provost, they were another great aircraft when in service, thanks for the memory :)
I'd love to own one of those. Hope they don't cost much.

Great plane. Did my Air Experience Training in these at RAF Hamble.
Most fun I ever had when I was a kid. Well, that, and gliding training in a Kirby Cadet at RAF Henlow. Happy days!

Oh my goodness this reminds of flying with a Flt Lt Hart at Abingdon whilst with 85 Sqn ATC such great memories! A delight to fly.
