Even if the story was an Original Japanese story, the Korean characters portrayed each role the best! Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong was even praised by the Japanese writer of the "Boys over Flower" novel, that he is the exact replica of how she wanted Ji Hoo would look like in real life. So props to the Korean version for making it come to life!

@Shadowhybya oh stfu. I should say that Korean copied it off from the Japanese. Besides, the girl in the Korean drama was too ugly for my taste. Japanese was better and the chemistry between Inou Mao and Matsumoto Jun was better. The Taiwanese version was just bad. It was taking forever for the two protagonist to get together.

I've watched all the versions and I have to say the Japanese version was the best then the Taiwanese and lastly the Korean version. Although the Taiwanese second season should've been shorter it was still good. All were great in their own way. I think the Kdrama's overall, always end weirdly too fast.

My best advice for the Taiwanese is to watch season 1 and stop there, season 2 is way beyond pointless but apart from that they all have their merits, if it comes to male cast, I will pick the Korean first then the taiwanese before the Japanese since I only felt like two of the cast in the Japanese were great and I loved all the Korean male cast. When it comes to female cast, I pick the Japanese first, then the Taiwanese then the Korean since I didn't really like in this particular drama well e

I've watched The Jdrama and the Kdrama versions and between those, the Japanese version was better because it had 2 seasons and a movie to make it complete and the Kdrama "Korean" version left you hanging at the end. So I think if the Taiwanese version has a happy ending then I pick it also over the Korean version.

meteor garden reminds me of my elementary days (since it was aired when I was on my 6th grade year) Hanayori Dango reminds me of my high school days (i was on my 3rd year in high school when it was aired here in the Philippines) and lastly BOF reminds me of my ex boyfriend, he was just like him, arrogant "baby tornado" as others call him, and sweet unfortunately, unlike Jun Pyo he's allergic to the word "commitment"....

Also (cont. from comment below), I felt that Tsukasa's mother in Boys Before Flowers didn't capture that elegant dignity I felt in HYD. In HYD, you could see how glamorous and luxurious the lifestyle of everyone at Eitoku High, and Tsukasa' and his friends' houses were gigantic. You could really get a feeling how the upper class live. Also, I preferred HYD's act

Japanese version all the way. After finishing HYD, I decided to go give the Korean version a try, but I just didn't feel it. HYD was very posh and clean, and portrayed how I imagined a fictional, rich and elite high school would look like. I felt that the Korean version wasn't very professional. I remember in Episode 1, the scene where Tsukushi first meets Rui, rather than just paying attention to what was happening, I was staring in horror at how the screen panned. Not my style at all.

Japanese version hands down. I'm sorry, but hot guys don't cut it for me. I love the chemistry that MatsuJun and Inoue Mao had. I loved how much of the manga is spreaded out into the drama, and even had a happier ending during HYD:Final. Besides, there were too many scenes from the drama and especially the movie that you can easily quote and you can remember, like, (Tsukushi)"What's your dream?" (Tsukasa)" -points at Tsukushi- It came true. I love you".

Sorry, as a straight guy, good male looks does nothing for me. I hated the Korean version. Thought the relationship wasn't strong enough between the main leads. And Oguri Shun owned Kim Hyun Joong in the role (p.s. I am a fan of SS501).Only thing nice was the relationship between Yi Jung & Ga Eul. The Japanese version is the only drama I have ever watched more than once because of great acting, nice story and pacing (with 2 seasons), and loyalty to manga (which i love).

I watched Boys Over Flowers first and loved it. Gorgeous guys, and an awesome story.

HOWEVER...

After watching the anime boy...was I ever disappointed....same idea but really took away the strong points of the character, the story and the connection between the 2 main characters. =(. It's like so melodramatic took away the strong points of the characters and turned them into cheesy characters (like the ones in all of the Korean shows). WHY? Why ruin the strong points of each character.

Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it but honestly DEFINITELY HANA YORI DANGO (Japanese version). Remember it was aired on 2005 so you can't really compare the luxury and style then to 2009. It was definitely more into the anime version. The main characters really played their role well. It's very close to the anime. The main characters were a great pair. I think people tend to be bias.

. I find that everyone is just voting Korean because they think their hotter (they played their characters weak....sorry but it's a fact). HYD has an awesome ENDING season 1 and 2. Not over dramatic but the story is definitely BOLD. Then again lots of girls here will still pick Korean ....just watching the guys makes their heart melt lol.
