only the TMN&O buses had true manual trannys this is not a fuller its a zf astronic 10 speed automated friction clutch transmission. runs like a manual and fuel efficient.

@jfs1988: It's still active right now. Only the coaches #3290-3299 T8O-206S suburban-version RTSs were retired around June of 2010.

I used to drive those buses. They used to have 6 speed allisons in them. I guess they replaced them!

@rm97ag That would depend on the series. I believe the earlier D-4500s still had the Allisons in them.

DAMNNN that jake brake on 6588 makes it sound like a BEAST!!! I rode on # 6486 about a year ago and thats wen i found out that Greyhound put ZF Astronics in their buses. Good Video.

Thanks, man! I one time, rode on the MCI J4500 bus that has the Series 60 EGR engine with the same ZF Astronic 10-12 speed semi-automatic transmission back in late-August of 2007.
