I always have to say this is my all time favorte show. At 47 years old now, I still look for it. There is no lesson to learn, no right or wrong, just plain fun. I remember when I was just home from school one day my mom insisted that I go with her "somewhere", right at the time the show was comming on. I pleaded with her not to make me miss it because I felt if I did, they would be lost forever. Wouldnt you know it, the next day, it wasnt on!!!!!!!!! I was so mad at my mom!!!!!!!
IN 1979 they did a rescue from Gilligan's island. Seven people were rescued. Isn't it strange that 3 women with 4 men , being stranded for 15 years why 10 people weren't rescued ?
I will say that one of my favorite Hale bits post "Gilligan's Island" is his appearance in the last season of "The Wild Wild West." They even got to give a bit of a in-joke toward the end with his character talking to West about where he was going. It was really cute, and Hale did such a good job in the series. He and all the actors in this show who have since passed are missed.
I met three of the cast members at different times. Alan Hale Jr. was just like you would want him to be. A very nice man . He liked that I remembered his other roles that he did but was also very proud of his work on Gilligans Island.
How can anyone not like the Skipper? Nobody can do better than Alan Hale when it comes to laughter from the heart and belly! lol I love those types that can laugh and be jovial no matter what. It lifts the sadness in people's lives. Makes life worth living! We miss these shows.
Tina Louise has some childrens books out now. I saw one in the store yesterday called When I Grow Up. Dawn had an ugly mouth, she used to wear a set of caps.
I must have watched every episode at least 10 times each when I was a kid. I really loved the cast and watching the episodes today (on DVD) make me feel like I'm back home on the Island! A great bunch of people in the cast and crew, that's for sure. Definitely a force for positive humor in a world filled with too much negativity. LONG LIVE GILLIGAN'S ISLAND!!! <3 <3 <3
Thank you for posting. It's always nice to see those actors. Russell Johnson met and talked with fans in a multi part clip that can be seen by typing into search: russell johnson book signing. This segment is cool because they were all still alive. Thanks for posting.
It was nice to see Tine Louise back for this reunion for a good cause. She avoided any associations with the show for so long. Seems now she's sorta' come to terms with it.
Does anyone know who Kit Smythe is? She was in the pilot episode, but she was replaced by Tina Louise who Astraldragon1 correctly mentioned that this show ruined her career. Well, Kit's career went nowhere, and I'll bet Kit would have been Thankful to be on a great show like this, and I think Tina should be a little thankful for the joy this show has brought to all of us from the time we were kids. I love Tina, but she should be thankful. Her timing & acting were awesome in Gilligan's Island.
@Beautifulmusiclistnr Ginger, Mary Anne and the Professor were all different actors in the pilot. All three actors were replaced with IMHO better actors. I also think that in the pilot Ginger was dark haired and Mary Anne blonde.
The other actors were all the same - and yes, Tina's career went no where and she was rather bitter about being in the show. Most of the other actors had decent post-show careers, and a few just embraced the characters post show.
Yina kouise was the most diffcult personm in HISTPORY to work with and shes a LIAR. I spent many hours with AlAN HA:LE in the 80s and bob Dencer AND Sherwood Schwartz annd his brother AL=--and they all stated TINA was a serious PAIN IN THE ASS
@DA90027 she may donate her time but it is a well known fact that Tina disliked the show because she thought she was the star. Watch the docuemntaries on the subject. Sherwood Schwartz said himself that the show is called GILLIGAN'S Island, not GINGER'S Island...
But I would take Mary Ann over Ginger ANY day. Ginger (the character) was a slut.
One can't blame Tina Louise for not liking the type casting she received as Ginger Grant. Her problem was she was SO good, sexy and perfect in the role. It would have been good to see her in more serious roles. After all, George Clooney became famous after doing Return of the Killer Tomatoes
Tina Louise is a good actress see how well she lies. 3:12 She hated the show and said it ruined her career and had arguements with the producers over not being the main star of the show.
All of you morons need to shut up. Tina Louise donates almost ALL of her free time to poverty stricken kids in New York. You lousy people just sit here and make stupid non-sensical comments about a subject you know nothing about.
@TVSeriesFinalecom Weren't there 2 Gingers? Unless that other Ginger only played in the TV Movies, like Rescue From Gilligan's Island, Gilligan's Island & the Harlem Globetrotters, etc.
@gjc82071 Louise played Ginger on the TV show but didn't return for the three reunion movies. Judith Baldwin played the character in the first two and Constance Forslund was Ginger in the third.
These were real actors... I spent my child years watching these people and would take these actors any day against the plastic, xanax machines they stick to the TV now.....Plot may have been a little goofy but we still watched.
Skipper was a class act. He embraced "Skipperdom" and in his final years, he went to visit ill children in hospitals--wearing his captain's hat--to reassure the kids that "the Skipper is here and everythings going to be all right." Rest in peace, Alan Hale Jr. (1918-1990)
Could power a radio with a homemade bamboo bicycle...but couldn't do a damn thing to patch that hole in the SS Minow or build a significant raft! Good thing though or we would not have enjoyed so many episodes.
I feel that the swedish nightingale would appreciate the work being done in childrens hospitals around the world, The american clipper Nightingale has returned to the shores of the pacific, if only in spirit
yea i wish i couldve met them..so sad i thougth they were all still alive!until i id research..i luv all the old shows its better than the bad acting these days!
up to now i still look at it their any episode with burt reynolds and aonther with 2gingers and why tina never wanted to act in the movies
