I'm a Bangladeshi, and I'm having a blast too - WITH unprivileged kids. Who says serving the community can't be fun? ;) Although, I'm working in the education sector, so it's not as grave as the situation you faced.
And there's nothing embarrassing about all this, just the fact the some people seem to have taken this the wrong way. It was a wonderful initiative, and I hope it's helped others take their own initiatives to help people. =)
I'm not denying Bangladesh has people who are ridiculously rich. In fact, most of them share your concern - that I'm "making" Bangladesh "look poor".
But with over 80% of the country earning less than $2 a day, many kids unable to go to school, many villages without access to clean and safe drinking water - all I'm really doing is pointing a camera to places most rich Bangladeshis choose to ignore.
But yeah, if you want to ignore the 80+% of the country.. you definitely can have a blast.

Hey why do you need to embarrass people like this? Why can't you just give them money and leave them alone???? You don't need to be in the spotlight...
I think you're reading into this what you want to see. If I've had one message that I've consistently said over and over again - the poor are just like you and me. They aren't objects of pity, they aren't lazy, they are hardworking and want a better life for themselves and our kids.
I think that's a message worth sharing. Also, extreme poverty won't be solved by dumping money on people and walking away.
Also, you seem to have a weird definition of what embarrassment is. People should be embarased if they do or say something that makes them look stupid, dumb, or somehow inferior. The people in my videos have done nothing. They were just born into an unfortunate situation. There is nothing embarrassing about that.
The people who should *really* be embarrassed by this video are those live in luxury in the same country with chauffeurs, maids, and servants and are ignoring the plight of the poor.
And, finally, this video isn't about putting me in the spotlight. This is about showing people what impact they can have to make a difference. It's about showing where their money has gone after they have donated it.
Without my previous videos, I would not have had any help to offer these two families seen in this video.
Fuck this shit. Help americans first fuck all other countries we need to help america we have people homeless here. Children and women are starving HERE in a America.
Yeah, I know, there are Americans starving Jigglypuff93, BUT they have homeless shelters and a much better government, what this guy is doing is giving money to people who can't live with out it. Next time you complain that it's the Americans that should get the money, think again, then shut your shit hole, because you could be one of those people starving your ass and begging fro money with 3 jobs ... fucking retard

True - you're completely right. I first got in touch with Rick from the internet. So, of course, I was very suspicious - so I did my homework.
Rick has been a trusted & respected teacher in both Hawaii (for decades) as well as a respected high school science teacher here at the American Int'l School in Dhaka.
I know, the more I get help from others, the more I risk exposing myself to someone who may have a shady history. But all I can do is see how respected they are within the community.
I am sorry , did i hear you say you where taught in school to think that one is better if you have more. I see What school is this, How can I do this and can one help where ever one wish. Thanks for sharing, we need more floks like you.
Awesome thing u did man! im amazed that im not the only one that helps people ever since i was a kid i give and help poor people in southamerica and my mom taught me that. I want to see a better world thanks to guys like u it might happen. thank bro great work
This video is lovely, the title to the content. I think your heart and mind is in the right place, and hope it forever (future lives :) stays that way. I too sometimes forget how fortunate I am to not have to go without certain things. I'm currently debating going to Costa Rica with someone I met off the net to do some social service work. I want to contribute positiveness to the world. Its sad some people don't realize that it doesn't matter if you don't know others, and that we're connected
This is a brilliant video, and i think you are doing an amazing thing! Sometimes i forget how privileged i am, and what a rich country i live in, but your videos make me think and remember. One thing i wanted to say, though, is that when you touch someone's feet, it's not necessarily a show of being lower status, it can just be respect- some of my family are indian, and when i see them, i always touch their feet, out of respect. But still, thank you for doing what you're doing!
Hi flipflap, this point actually was talked about a bit in an earlier comment. Basically, within family: it's a respect thing (usually age based - younger touching elder). Outside of family it's a status thing.
It actually harkens back to India's caste system. A lower caste could touch the foot of a higher caste. But never the other way around.
First time ever i thought about giving charity, i won't give normally because i think that places they giving them to are corrupt, this looked different. Also, it wasn't one of those videos you got on TV where you are shown everyone being depressed
Most villages are like that in Bangladesh - hard to access. But there are tons of people that go to the towns and cities. And that leads to a hyper-urbanization. Places like Dhaka City are strained to the max because of it. They are often better off being in a remote area than in the slums of Dhaka City...
I'm so proud of these guys, I just seen them for the fist time, but that's so good for what they're doing. Gods and Goddesses may bless them in their journey.
this really makes me just wanna donate. Im 16 with a small part time job, get about 120$s a month, i could do so much with it donating. But its hard to consider it, i cant help but compare myself to others who are more fortunate like kids who get whatever they want, rather than those less fortunate like these kids. It'll be hard for me to gather the balls and just donate all my money when i know theres people who get things for free that im trying to save my work money for,but dont donate at all
Hey garysan - the fact you are thinking about this is what's the most important. Forget 16. I hope you remember helping the poor when your 61 and older :)
I'm not a charity - so I'm not focused on fundraising. I'm just hoping to build momentum for my work by getting more people interested in watching what I'm doing :)
I'm not an organization - I'm just a guy who does this as an individual. But in this video I did get the help of a local small org. I try my best to research the orgs I team up with. So far, I think I have been lucky in finding some orgs.
awesome dude, what your doing is amazing :')im to young to donate money but im sure ill start donating in a few years :D (and btw the age in my channel is not my real one)
then you should do as i did :) go to "thehungersite" it's a site where you can vote daily and give money to them without signing in or giving away any of ur money. im just a kid (15) and i do this daily, i have no idea how many ppl i've helped, but i guess i've done something ;)
and no, this 'aint spam, i just wanted to give away the info i held, and share it with you guys :)
PS: sorry about my horrible english.. im retarded :(
This isn't a charity - so I'm not obsessed about donations or anything like that. And hey, I am a YouTube partner - so the more people who sub and watch this channel, the more potential adsense money I can get. Who knows? That may one day be enough to keep doing this project or one like it :)
woopdy doo do you want a congratulations just because they are not as lucky as us doesn't mean they deserve any better. but cool you gave them money but it doesn't mean you have to go post it online i think you just want attention if you really want to help out do what you do for them not for you.
No worries :) This isn't about donations :) This about what we together as a YouTube community can do :) Subscribe, rate, comment - all of that helps build momentum :)
Man i think what your doing is great, so awsome, man once i start getting money i will hopefully be able to donate you some money, i'm only 15 tho so finding a job is a bit tough keep up the work :)
This is awesome... I did prefer the music used later during the clip. No offense to bradsucks, the music is great just doesn't seem to fit in as well. Anyway, all in all wonderful clip
The funny thing is that wasn't the case before I used this song. I actually had to get special permission from Brad to use this. It was only later that Brad started using the BY-SA creative commons license to allow everyone else to do the same :P
Thank you very much for your reply.. I have been donating for last 5 years to different organizations... and since you already started a project.. I will add another donation to your project in addition to the project I am already working with.. Please let me know how and what needs to be done so that you can minimize your struggle and hope to help you go forward in helping poor people.. I will be looking forward to hearing from you soon.. thank you very much...
Well, the two biggest challenges is the expenses of doing this project and the lack of help while in Bangladesh. I have well-to-do aunts and uncles in Bangladesh but they could care less about my project and about helping me with a place to stay. The other big challenge is finding ways to fund the expenses like equipment, airfare, and food. I do this full time yet I don't take a cut of the donations for living expenses...
Hey I also donate money to Bangladesh and other poor countries. I would like to be part of this group.. I really appreciate the work you guys are doing so far. I was planning to start something like this... but I think I don need to.. cuz we already got one.. I will definitely look forward to help on behalf.. Thank you and appreciate for the support to these poor peoples
Thanks for your support. A lot of people see this work and just want to copy what I'm doing. But I'm struggling enough as it is to keep doing what I'm doing - I could use all the support I can get! :)
hey u r doing great jobs by helping all those bengali people who are need and i am very very proud of you. however, when you talked about touching feet, its not really entirely means that you touch someones feet when you have a lower status. Its not about status, its about respect. Muslims touch their elders feet for many religious occasion, which is very sacred, i know if other muslims who have heard ur comment would easily get offended. But in ur case, i believe she should not touch ur feet
ya i understand when you said that they wouldnt allow you to touch their feet, obviously i wouldnt allow them too! And ya i am surprised that thouching feet its cultural. You know some of the very religious people will get mad if you didnt touch their feet when you are getting married ar even in Eid! But its their belief. Sorry for misunderstanding :D
You're right! Religious Bengalis sometimes expect you to touch their feet (especially if they are older than you, more educated, or wealthier). But you won't find this trend in other Muslim countries like in the middle east and elsewhere. :)
yup you wouldnt find this in middle east for sure, i was there! ok WOAH that was quite a nice discussion about culture! Ok may i ask a question? Do you know if a member can work in bangaldesh like you to thouse in need?? and can you let me know the process if there is any. I would love to help my country, but not by satying at toronto! :D
oop i meant not a member of something, but any person, who is very interested to work with organization. do you have any suggestions? or maybe any idea to how i can start??
I am a Bangladeshi minority(Buddhist), and I remember growing up my parents teaching me to touch the elders feet when you are greeting them. I am really bothered with it especially when it comes to touching a strangers feet. Hey thanks for the video of CTG hill tracks. When is your latest video coming, please also film of the minority tourcherd by the muslims during the BNP government.
I really want to help you to raise awareness. I want to organise something that wizard rockers and/or youtubers can do to help you. Would you be up for that? Amy<3
I am surprised about your misconception of salam. My last name is Bhuiyan, meaning my family name is one of the highest status in Bangladesh, and I have always been taught to salam the elders. It is not to say that your status is lower then another's, it is to pay deep respect to the elders.
hey banglars - am I an elder in this video? So why is this older person trying to touch my feet? I'm not saying that salam is done 100% as a status differential. In family settings, its more of an age thing. Outside family settings, its a wealth thing.
I have yet to see an elder salaam a younger EXCEPT when there is a difference of wealth. When there is no difference of wealth I have yet to see a elder salaam a younger. No misconceptions here I'm afraid.
Well how would you define a point? Like, it won't help you solve a rubik's cube or get you free Mac software. So, if that's your standard, I'll concede there is no point :P
Well at least you have some of your own videos up and allow people to comment & rate them. A lot of people who criticize other people's videos don't put up videos themselves.
So I commend you for at least being someone who's more than a critical blank box...
Keep up the good work. I feel sorry for these bengali kids since they live in poverty and their country will probably be under water in a few decades.
They growing number faster than wealthy ppl .. Godbless to those who gives!

this really makes me just wanna donate. Im 16 with a small part time job, get about 120$s a month, i could do so much with it donating. But its hard to consider it, i cant help but compare myself to others who are more fortunate like kids who get whatever they want, rather than those less fortunate like these kids. It'll be hard for me to gather the balls and just donate all my money when i know theres people who get things for free that im trying to save my work money for,but dont donate at all
garysan 3 years ago
Hey garysan - the fact you are thinking about this is what's the most important. Forget 16. I hope you remember helping the poor when your 61 and older :)
I'm not a charity - so I'm not focused on fundraising. I'm just hoping to build momentum for my work by getting more people interested in watching what I'm doing :)
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
I'm not an organization - I'm just a guy who does this as an individual. But in this video I did get the help of a local small org. I try my best to research the orgs I team up with. So far, I think I have been lucky in finding some orgs.

PS: sorry about my horrible english.. im retarded :(
mimwo 3 years ago
This isn't a charity - so I'm not obsessed about donations or anything like that. And hey, I am a YouTube partner - so the more people who sub and watch this channel, the more potential adsense money I can get. Who knows? That may one day be enough to keep doing this project or one like it :)
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
man this makes me cry for real.. The world is so fucking unfair.
i wish i had money, then i would donate too. Need to graduate and get a job
tjalolx 3 years ago
hey tjalolx - don't worry about feeling bad about not being able to donate. I'm not a charity - so, I'm not too obsessed with fundraising.
Just hope you consider sticking around and watching my other videos :)

woopdy doo do you want a congratulations just because they are not as lucky as us doesn't mean they deserve any better. but cool you gave them money but it doesn't mean you have to go post it online i think you just want attention if you really want to help out do what you do for them not for you.
GreedyVoulcorn 3 years ago
They deserve AS much as us. So quit being a ignorant monkey and at least be supportive.
The way you're sounding, you seem more like the animal that "they" are discriminated as.
mega17 3 years ago
If I wanted attention - I'd make videos of myself in an artifically high pitched voice and pretend that I'm a 12 year old kid.

This is awesome... I did prefer the music used later during the clip. No offense to bradsucks, the music is great just doesn't seem to fit in as well. Anyway, all in all wonderful clip
Owwwwie 3 years ago
The song in the end is by Josh Woodward. I just love his work.
In terms of finding royalty-free or creative commons licensed music, Bradsucks tends to fit a bit better than most of the stuff I find...
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
lol brad sucks is everywhere
XShinjoX 3 years ago
The funny thing is that wasn't the case before I used this song. I actually had to get special permission from Brad to use this. It was only later that Brad started using the BY-SA creative commons license to allow everyone else to do the same :P

Thank you very much for your reply.. I have been donating for last 5 years to different organizations... and since you already started a project.. I will add another donation to your project in addition to the project I am already working with.. Please let me know how and what needs to be done so that you can minimize your struggle and hope to help you go forward in helping poor people.. I will be looking forward to hearing from you soon.. thank you very much...
Far009 3 years ago
Well, the two biggest challenges is the expenses of doing this project and the lack of help while in Bangladesh. I have well-to-do aunts and uncles in Bangladesh but they could care less about my project and about helping me with a place to stay. The other big challenge is finding ways to fund the expenses like equipment, airfare, and food. I do this full time yet I don't take a cut of the donations for living expenses...
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
Hey I also donate money to Bangladesh and other poor countries. I would like to be part of this group.. I really appreciate the work you guys are doing so far. I was planning to start something like this... but I think I don need to.. cuz we already got one.. I will definitely look forward to help on behalf.. Thank you and appreciate for the support to these poor peoples
Far009 3 years ago
Thanks for your support. A lot of people see this work and just want to copy what I'm doing. But I'm struggling enough as it is to keep doing what I'm doing - I could use all the support I can get! :)
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
hey u r doing great jobs by helping all those bengali people who are need and i am very very proud of you. however, when you talked about touching feet, its not really entirely means that you touch someones feet when you have a lower status. Its not about status, its about respect. Muslims touch their elders feet for many religious occasion, which is very sacred, i know if other muslims who have heard ur comment would easily get offended. But in ur case, i believe she should not touch ur feet
shuraya25 3 years ago
It's a tricky thing for sure. Young people can touch elders - butnot the other way around.
And others won't let me touch their feet because they think I'm a rich educated foreigner. There is definitely an implied status to the greeting.
And touching feet isn't a Muslim greeting. It's cultural - not Islamic.
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
ya i understand when you said that they wouldnt allow you to touch their feet, obviously i wouldnt allow them too! And ya i am surprised that thouching feet its cultural. You know some of the very religious people will get mad if you didnt touch their feet when you are getting married ar even in Eid! But its their belief. Sorry for misunderstanding :D
shuraya25 3 years ago
You're right! Religious Bengalis sometimes expect you to touch their feet (especially if they are older than you, more educated, or wealthier). But you won't find this trend in other Muslim countries like in the middle east and elsewhere. :)
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
yup you wouldnt find this in middle east for sure, i was there! ok WOAH that was quite a nice discussion about culture! Ok may i ask a question? Do you know if a member can work in bangaldesh like you to thouse in need?? and can you let me know the process if there is any. I would love to help my country, but not by satying at toronto! :D

Member of what though?

I am a Bangladeshi minority(Buddhist), and I remember growing up my parents teaching me to touch the elders feet when you are greeting them. I am really bothered with it especially when it comes to touching a strangers feet. Hey thanks for the video of CTG hill tracks. When is your latest video coming, please also film of the minority tourcherd by the muslims during the BNP government.

another awesome video man.
I am surprised about your misconception of salam. My last name is Bhuiyan, meaning my family name is one of the highest status in Bangladesh, and I have always been taught to salam the elders. It is not to say that your status is lower then another's, it is to pay deep respect to the elders.
banglarswapan 3 years ago
hey banglars - am I an elder in this video? So why is this older person trying to touch my feet? I'm not saying that salam is done 100% as a status differential. In family settings, its more of an age thing. Outside family settings, its a wealth thing.
I have yet to see an elder salaam a younger EXCEPT when there is a difference of wealth. When there is no difference of wealth I have yet to see a elder salaam a younger. No misconceptions here I'm afraid.

I checked some of your vids out. I apologize as my videos clearly aren't as interesting as muted videos about pirating Mac software.
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
tell me whats the point in this video
rubikssolver08 3 years ago
Well how would you define a point? Like, it won't help you solve a rubik's cube or get you free Mac software. So, if that's your standard, I'll concede there is no point :P
UnculturedProject 3 years ago
okay so your video has no meaning
rubikssolver08 3 years ago
Well at least you have some of your own videos up and allow people to comment & rate them. A lot of people who criticize other people's videos don't put up videos themselves.
So I commend you for at least being someone who's more than a critical blank box...
