Alexander the Great was born and raised in Macedonia, so you could say he was definitely Macedonian. On the other hand, Macedon had absorbed Greek culture and conquered most of Greece by the time he became king, and then he conquered the rest and used mostly Greek armies to conquer the Persian Empire. A better question would be, what did Alexander consider himself? Unfortunately we will never know the answer to that. We do know that he believed himself to be a living god, lol.
