What is ridiculously mind blowing about this video is the fact that although you said "fuck" every other word, the entire thing was extremely well articulated. While constantly screaming profanity, you managed to be better spoken than 90% of the population, quite a feat.
But, the heart of what Raven is saying is disturbing. He doesn't want to have think if someone is manipulating him. He wants to be assured, protected, and insulated from anyone taking advantage of him. He doesn't want to have to think for himself. Is he articulate? Yes. Is what he is saying of value? Yes, he is entitled to express his opinions. Should he be applauded? No. He made a dramatic argument for being a victim. That's not heroic. It's weak. It's not noble. It's shameful.

I stopped watching Lonelygirl a while back, perhaps a month or so ago, because I noticed inconsistencies in the story line. The bubble burst, and I just waited for it to be exposed as a falsehood. I am sorry people were hurt by it.

it took all my will to wait until the end the first time ,i really wouldn't make it a second. There is no need for it to be stated at the begining of every show as it is already an established fact that TV shows fiction, otherwise it is stated in the begining. There is a reason why that particular programming is called "Reality Television".
Yes, YouTube is a hosting site for vids, however this vid was presented as a video blog, not as a performance piece. By responding to the other users and asking for interaction, it was perpetuated as real. Thus the lie. People cryed because they were mislead and had a level of emotional investment in the person.

I would say that this is more a question of Ethics than morals. Lies are morally wrong where as it becomes a question of weither ethicly the misleading was too much. Not everything of value is made of money.

Personally, I usually start with the music. If there's a song I can't get outa my head, it'll go in an AMV ("Demonic Attraction" was born that way, after I heard Zakk Wylde's "Stairway"). And some of em start with the pacing (my Appleseed vid). A few are pure story, and those are the hardest -- I haven't done one of those yet. And if you want WEIRD, there's a few. It's just about what you wanna watch. :)
Until now, I thought the people who were fooled by this Lonelygirl thing were stupid. I figured that LG15 was a variation on the emokid21ohio hoax, which, by the way, was a truly brilliant piece of interactive performance art. But the LG15 producers differ in that they seek to profit from the LG15 audience's gullibility--an ethical violation of the first order.
It reminds me of the events surrounding that movie Quiz Show. But LG15 is part of another YouTube schism--those who see YouTube as a community of bloggers and those who see it as a potential marketplace with Paypal buttons, paid subscriptions and commercials attached to the ends of videos.
The emokid thing was VERY OTT drama. I mean, those characters were selfish inward selfpitying BRATS. The other character that shall go unnamed (at least by some :p ) was (somewhat) believable. Therefore the 'crush' felt by some was MUCH harder- the profit angle just made it even more so.

Blunty3000 got slammed by dozens of email because he told people about a web cam he was using; they said he was getting paid to advertise it. it took all my will to wait until the end the first time ,i really wouldn't make it a second. But most of what have stated is 'theory' the whole thing hasn't panned out yet , yes maybe they will make a film and make money maybe they wont. You cant complain before they have even made any substantial money from it. But the point is , the truth is out and 100,000+ people still watch every one of the videos so clearly the majority of people don't care if its real or not. Its entertainment.

Yes, people should be more selective in what they invest themselves in, but in this case there were enough people who were effected by this event and a large number of people who seem to think "Suck it up that you got lied to" is completely acceptable way to respond. I agree that it may be melodramatic in reaction, but the apathetic, intolerant attitude is something I DO NOT agree with.

If you watch a show on t.v no where at the beginning of the shows does it say "Just so you didn't know this isn't real" . The same apples to youtube , it isn't specifically a video bloging sight, it's a broadcasting medium the same as cable. There is no need for it to be stated at the begining of every show as it is already an established fact that TV shows fiction, otherwise it is stated in the begining. There is a reason why that particular programming is called "Reality Television".

Yes, YouTube is a hosting site for vids, however this vid was presented as a video blog, not as a performance piece. By responding to the other users and asking for interaction, it was perpetuated as real. Thus the lie. People cryed because they were mislead and had a level of emotional investment in the person.

Well the character himself was shifty, but he did love both his daughter and son. The advice which was given by Polonius to his son when he was leaving to France was valuable and a fine display of his concern for the man that Laertes would eventually become. I wonder if the actions that Laertes took when he enacted his revenge for the slaying of his father we in turn motivated by that very speach, at least in the sense of him doing what he felt was truest to his heart...

The main reason I have not actually started the chain on world events is simply ignorance. I do not have enough facts about those events and places to make a well thought out statement. Simply saying "Innocent people are dieing" is not enough. If there is a political body that is in charge of the atrocity I wanna tear them down. In order to do that I need to know about them. :D

As much as I dislike LG15, I gotsa disagree. If people are silly enough to become emotionally involved with some suck-tastic character on the internet, it's their own fault. It's not all on the dillwads who perped the scheme. The kids who got into LG15 are the same who've made 'american idol' and a hundred other suckly shows so plopular. It's important to remember that YouTube in the freakin' Internet and people with all sorts of agendas are here. Personally, I usually start with the music. If there's a song I can't get outa my head, it'll go in an AMV ("Demonic Attraction" was born that way, after I heard Zakk Wylde's "Stairway"). And some of em start with the pacing (my Appleseed vid). A few are pure story, and those are the hardest -- I haven't done one of those yet. And if you want WEIRD, there's a few. It's just about what you wanna watch. :)

The emokid thing was VERY OTT drama. I mean, those characters were selfish inward selfpitying BRATS. The other character that shall go unnamed (at least by some :p ) was (somewhat) believable. Therefore the 'crush' felt by some was MUCH harder- the profit angle just made it even more so.
