Wow! I didn't know about this. If you look at the map at the lower-right corner, it shows a shape. In Romani's Ranch, it's shaped as a leaf, and in Mamamu's Doggy Racetrack, it's shaped as a bomb. Once the golden dog has won after having a "Ruff" thought, it will tend to keep having "Ruff" thoughts until Link leaves the area. The black dog will almost always lose very badly no matter what it is thinking — often trailing far behind the others and occasionally even being lapped by them.
