@snowetrees no but it does have to do with whether you win competitions or not, at least in the USA. There may be exceptions but I'm talking about in general. If you look at many if these dance videos, you can see that most of the girls don't wear tights - and none of the winners are wearing them. It's important for people to be able to see the bare legs of the girls - and it's more visually appealing anyway, along with bare stomachs. The colours contrast nicely.

Gosh, not all "heartfelt" dancing is contemporary or lyrical. Dance is a form of self expression in any style you do, so all these tricks and facial expressions and such are beside the point of real dancing. Some prime examples of young dancers doing this are denah gregory's "nostalgia" and even those little "single ladies" girls! So much personality and expression. Just my opinion. That's all.

I agree with @dancettechick13. if she was 14 or 15 with this solo there would be a problem. when young dancers do lyrical solos, they can never fully grasp the meanings and emotions. without the ability to grasp the meaning of a dance, theres no point in dancing it. except to transform it into a trick show. let her show off her athleticism now, and let the artistry aspect come later

Mehh. She's very talented, don't get me wrong, but this is just typical, bland, run of the mill competition cheoreography. Lots of turns and jumps, no feeling. The best dancers are those who dance from the heart, and truely express themselves. I just hate to see these super talented young girls dancing to seemingly identical routines :/
