Yeah, 'cause white people never contributed to jazz. It's not like the only reason it got really popular was because loads of white people paid to listen to it. Nah.
mo' better blues was a great film and this song was very good. i went to college with the group's lead singer. we called him "red". he's done well for himself since college.
Everyone knows that Today's talent is killing hip hop....Today's talent is crap and fake. This video makes hip hop into an art form and Gangstarr is really big on talent.
This song was it! The B-side of the 12" was even better it featured Branford Marsellis (sp?) and Premier doing a back and forth conversation between turnable and saxophone. Good stuff! Also just a suggestion, if you like real jazz/hip-hop fusion type Greg Osby Raise in the youtube search engine. CL Smooth is the featured rapper.
i've been looking everywhere for this song. it ain't on limewire or anywhere. excellent word play smooth rhythm and flow...like fine wine, better with age!!! excellent post.
because i only want this song. and what are you worried about it for? he is getting his royalties anyway. he has his masters so he is fine. whether i get it free or buy the cd he is still getting money for it b/c whomever produced this movie had to pay him an advance to come up with it. since this movie was produced back in the early 90's i would like to think that he has gotten his money and then some since it is such a big hit and now a revered classic.
i like ur attitude but u gotta know that the people who fuck with mainstream shit dont buy music either. in fact they pirate more then ne body else does.
Then who would suggest is buying the mainstream crap?
Obviously somebody is buying the shit!
Why don't you enlighten me and let me know how this crap is so popular and makes so much money in record sales if "the people who fuck with mainstream shit don't buy music either".
it's popular becuase it gets played on radio and MTV...cd sales are at their lowest point in years becuase EVERYBODY pirates music regardless of what music they listen to. as far as record sales go it does outsell the shit i would call 'real hip hop' but thats only becuase of the assholes responsible for putting that crap out only becuase they kno stupid people will buy it. but still it get pirated and downloaded just as much as anything else
Then who would suggest is buying the mainstream crap?

YO stupid!!!! You obviously know nothing about hip hop. Just quit. Guru is a legend that you unfortunately know nothing about and are so shallow that you couldn't ever, ever grasp the concept. DONE!
i hate the rap and hip hop from today but this is the shit so fucking good compared to any of those fuckers today that dont know how to talk aka 50 cent. fuck, his music isnt even worth 5 cents
hip hop is so misrepresented. Saying 50 cent and all this party like a rockstar shit is like saying nickelback is a good representation of rock music.. Theres good things always beyond the surface, and this goes for every genre.
Nickelback isn't bad. maybe not the best rock representation but you still could've come up with something better. you know, like an emo band or something.
Sick..Jz

Why are you trying to get it free on limewire?
Why don't you go and buy the cd?
That kind of ripping off is what's killing dope music!
While you and a lot of underground fans are ripping off the music the fans of that mainstream crap are buying it!
If you like the music why don't you support it instead of helping to kill it!
