I would like to know some information, which the price of climbing the Matterhorn? and Zermatt have any place to know information about climbing the Matterhorn?we have our equipment? or we can rent? thank you
that looks so sketchy up there! how do you know that the snow line your walking on wont collapse in?? i mean its a snow ridge it lloks like if youd kick it or fall itd just collapse and youd go right off the side??
@Nils493 actually anyone who is physically and mentally prepared and have proper training can do this. with guide u r only increasing ur safety which is highly encouraged :).
I climbed the summit in 2010 with Georg Feitzinger (mountain guide from Austria). It was the experince of my live. Thanks to a good training and a guide who knew what he is doing, we made it up and down save.
To play it save - hire a guide - he is worth every penny.
@tdg223 hike?!?!? you cant hike it! its actually a very deadly mountain, more people died on the matterhorn, than on any other peak in the world! you have to climb! And its not going to be easy, every year 6-7 climbers die there and those guys are no beginners!!!!!!!!!!
@TheInGenCO Actually more people have died on Annapurna than any other peak in the world. K2, Nanga Parbat, Siula Grande, and Kangchenjunga have a higher fatality rate than the Matterhorn also.
@rocafella142 um no it does not have the most deaths of any other peak in the world. It has the highest fatality RATE. That does not indicate it has the most deaths.
@SludgePunkGrunge Yes I know that now i typed that a while ago. But thanks for your concern :) Nevertheless, most of the 8,000ers still has more deaths than the Matterhorn.
@TheInGenCO Well, my opinion is that these folks are crazy, playing with their lifes like this. They walk on that small snowy path like nothing can happen to them, i cannot understand why they are doing this, knowing that 450 people died in an attempt to climb the top!
@just0408 well you are right not everybody who can be on the mountain should be on the mountain!!! If it wanst so dangerous than it would be nothing special and only few people would climb it, thats in human nature,... whcih is kind of stupid
last year in 2009, i tried to clim the matterhorn! but there where too many people on the way, so we were to slow! that´s why we had to return on the shoulder at 4200m!
but this year we will try again with new and more power! ;-)

It's steepness is what's dangerous. The Alps are beautiful, but the Alaska range is where it's at for me.

Matterhorn is in the Pennine Alps on the Italian-Swiss border and it's height is 4,481.1 m (14,692 ft). That's why it is known as made for ladies.
