  • Ive got a few questions, is there any way you can make an object already created in blender and make a normal map from that for SL? I really didnt wanna redo it from scratch haha. Also where can I get this addon and what version(s) of Blender is it compatable with? Thanks for making this tutorial!

  • Im not using the version your using so i cannot do this.

  • Do you understand to make a proper tutorial you need to LET PEOPLE know what kind of plugin your using, its like. Im going to tell you how to put this puzzle together, but I cant tell you what ...you know what its just simple, Gives US A link TO THE plug in. Or we cant follow you. It's as simple as that >: /

  • uhh....plugins? srsly...thats your first flaw....

  • Go to Google and look up JASS Machinamatrix. they made it so easy with ONE download installing Python, plugins, and Blender. They have videos on their website to get you started in blender.

  • where do you down load the second life plug ins from?

  • may u send link for the plugins, i tryed ot find em and i think i may have.... but everytime i puch " run script " a error comes up PLEASE HELP

  • My menu doesn't have "Sculpt Mesh" =(

  • what version of Blender can I use and also was there any scripts you had to use?

  • I loved your tutorial! Very easy to follow. imported the heart into SL and added a rotation script, hovering text, and a click to activate which played my recorded voice for my girlfriend.. she loves it. I have a question though, i have been searching all over for a tutorial on importing a displacement map into blender, then converting it with the UV editor and exporting it as a sculpty. I have been unsuccessful thus far. Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks :-)

  • @cyberspyder1 Not sure if this answer your question, but if you looking for a map you took out of sl or some other place to use in blender, instead of saying open go to import then you choose the ext on what you looking for, like for sl the ext would be txt, png, jpg, or something like that, then you go to the folder where the map is located.

  • @rmntcsweetangel Thanks for the reply, but no, i am talking about using Greyscale displacement or bump maps in blender, then converting them to UV sculpt maps and then exporting them into SL. I can import the grey maps into blender, but when i try to convert them into UV maps they remain grey and not full color. That's what i'm trying to do, get the greyscale maps to turn into UV color maps.

  • @cyberspyder1

Where did you download the second life plug ins from and what version of blender does second life plug ins work on?

  • open up what menu? 0:30

  • @jycgenius the sculpt menu can be accessed in this version by clicking n

  • @WesternDragon101 you cant click n you can only press n lol if you said press n i probably would have understood it in the video

  • @jycgenius

    click N

  • do you need scripts.....does this all work on the mac?

  • @TheExcelboyz Takes the second life plug ins.. no idea about the mac

  • @TheExcelboyz yes it works on mac, and if you doing this for sl, get jass, that way you have everything you need, to get jass its inworld.

  • for some reason i dont have sculpt mesh x.x

  • @flparx sculpt mesh is only available if you install the add on primstar.

  • Um, I'm going to sound like an absolute noob, but where do you get the secondlife plugin? I'm at blender.org and looked it up and can't find it :/

  • @FolfTV i think you go to primstar.com but a easier way to get blender for secondlife is to get jass from inworld

  • I don't have the "Bake Second Life Sculpties" I have primstar 1.0.0 properly installed, Blender 2.49b, and Python version 2.6.2. but I DO NOT see the Bake Second Life Sculpties in the render menu. Please help, would be much appreciated.

  • where did you get the "Second life" rendering download? D: i can't find it

  • how do i delete failed blender projects? i'm running out of c-drive HARDTIME!

  • After she changes to sculpt mode, she says something like 'click 'end' and open up this menu'.....but when i click 'end' nothing happens. What is this menu she opens?

Cant for the life of me find it.

  • @boyblue80 it was "n" it is a shortcut key..

  • you can upload your own objects ingame? and others can see them?

i eman does this cost any money ?

  • @RavenVanDark to upload sculpt mesh it cost 10 lindens when I made this video (havent been on in ages!)

  • i have a pre-made airplane and it has alot of meshes....can i upload all of those like the whole plane to second life?

  • @brandensportshead it only lets you have so many verticies before you get major losses.. simple shapes look the best

  • how u get sculpt mesh? cus when i try it dont show up, this tutorial sucks

  • ...you have to pay to upload image?

  • YAYY FOR FURRIES :3

  • You don't got sculpt mesh?

You can't find "Bake Second Life Sculpties" in render

Here's what I found... you can google following tutorials:

"Tutorial1 : Install Blender Sculptie Script"

"Tutorial5 : Save Sculpted Texture from Blender to Second Life"

I hope this will help many of you ;)

A great thnx to WesternDragon for providing one of the most usefull tutorials I've tried.

  • ur 2 pro i cant even do the heart

  • I'm part of a SL company, can't disclose the name right now because I'm in the process of copyrighting it. But, we are trying to look for a good sculpting program, alot of which seemingly take too much time away from other things to learn them. But hopefully, this video will help us retry blender as we have not had much luck via other programs except for sculpty paint which is easy, but not of the best quality. Thank you. We'll be looking at your other videos.

  • @ConduitSamus Thank you for the compliment. Sorry I have not uploaded other videos yet

  • Shit! What a Trash Tutorial!, The sound its too low, She goes on 319283918x speed on the tutorial. You need to stop and play 5 times per option! DAmn! Slow Down and Speak Loud!! -.-

    Fail Tutorial

  • @punkenter

Don't see you have anything of any value on your profile other then a cosplay vid. Going to insult something, be sure to back up your mouth.

  • @punkenter that is my normal speed. I don't remember speeding it up... I guess I can check if I did.. it was long ago..

also I realized I spoke quiet and I left a decription to the video with some of the commands.. if it is so shit then dont watch

  • @punkenter its easy to understand her, just pay more attention next time

  • when i make a uv image in blender to make a sculpty it won't show the bumps i put on the sculpty, so in other words ill make like a plane mesh then draw big bumps in it but when i make the uv image and put it in second life they don't show just the shape of what i did not the bumps i put in. you cant even see the bump colors in the uv image, what am i doing wrong plz help ty :)

  • umm is there a way to turn old meshes to sculpted meshes?

  • Please link me in a PM to the plug-in I cannot find one

  • hi, i just wanted to say I love you.

    bye.

  • @Mowow3 aww thank you

  • i dont have option Bake Second Life Sculpties...what do i need to do, 32 bit 2.49 Phynton 2.6 and added scripts

  • @Thomson1100

Hi Thomson... I had this problem too but found a way with some other tutorial.

You just have to do following:

    1) Render >> Bake Sculpt Meshes

    2) Bake Sculpt Mesh Option appear. Just hit Bake button.

    3) After baked sculpt texture you need to click the "image" browser under UV/Image Editor. Now you can see image thumbnail ("sphere") appear just click on it to select and you'll get the sculpted texture on the UV/image editor.

  • Horrible quality. First person to do the right thing and actually instruct us though.

  • @ArchusX yes sorry about the quality.....

took me soo long to figure out and decided to make it easier for others

  • I keep getting a Python error when I bake it

  • I want to learn more about this game so I can build my empire with Blender3d XD

  • Yeah i don't have some of the SL sculpties folder, or the SL option under render either. So idk what to do.

  • When I go Add>Mesh> there are only Empty mesh and Torus mesh, no sculpt mesh at all. Why is that? (Im running blender-2.49b-windows and have python-2.6.5 installed.) Thanks.

  • @wings040 Self-Reply: install Jass, prob solved.

  • Thanks for this Vid.

I installed Blender (the latest) and cant do the very 1st step (Add - Mesh - Sculpt Mesh) Coz i dont see "Sculpt Mesh" .. Where do I get the second life plug ins. plz

I searched for it but i really cant find a download or how to plug it into my Blender...Thanks :)

btw Is there is another easier software to do Sculpties for SL ?

  • Make sure you have python scripting language installed (python org/download) you want the most recent with the most recent blender make sure they are 32 bit versions (sorry if your on mac and its different i am not sure about that. well after you install blender 32 bit and python 32 bit download latest primstar or mess with any version you wanna experiment most recent works for me (dominodesigns info) and dump the unzipped folder in blender scripts

  • Thank you for the reply :-)

    * using windows 7 64-Bit

I have Blender 2.6.2+ python Now the problem is with the scripts from domino they came with the worst instructions ever to install

his file comes like this (primstar_1.0.0.zip) Ziped. what do i do with it ? do i have to unzip it? i copyied the folder after being unziped and past it in my Blender, but where? there is no folder called scripts

  • @DragonFlames85 yes sorry about that, the script folder is hidden

i assume windows 7 didnt change much from vista soo paste this in your address bar (C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender\.blender\scripts)

**note** i DID put blender in my computers 86 *32 bit* folder and did rename the archived blender to pure blender so just go to your blender folder and paste the .blender\scripts in that should get you to hidden

now paste your primstar folder in there and you should be done

    best of luck

  • part2

So i made a folder named it scripts, pasted his folder.

Now when i run blender then File > Import >Second life sculptie ,gives me an error (python scripts error, check console)

Also from from Add menu > Mesch > sculpt mesch> (gives me the same error ,python script error, check console). I installed everything and done it in a new fresh installation but same thing.

  • part3

The funny thing is I know how to use Blender and make a simple sculpties from many Vidz i watched but I never done them , hehe i know how to do it but i cant do it due to this issue :(

btw iv seen many people having a problem with this part , you mind making a simple short vid of how to install Domingo's crappy scripts the correct way and the easiest way plz

    Thank you for your help

  • @DragonFlames85 P2

just to clarify ".blender\scripts" goes at the end of your blender address

  • Do i have to make 2 folders , name the 1st.blender then the 2nd scripts?

Coz I just change all my folder proprties , and made show all hidden stuff, still dont see anything nameed scripts..also pasted that address and nothing..

this is where i have it installed (C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender)

and there is nothing after it.

  • @DragonFlames85 you don't have the .blender/scripts folders already?

did you download the 32 bit installer or the zipped archive version.

if you used the installer try the zipped archive

  • Where do you find the plug in for the second life sculpty map? (the part where you bake it into a second life sculpty map under render) I've been looking all over and I can never find it.

  • is it free?=)

  • yes, Blender and second life both are free.... uploading sculptie prims costs 10lindens though

  • FYI you should upload the sculpt map with the Lossless option checked/ Thanks for the video ;)

  • really? Always seemed to be more crooked that way..

I will have to try that again sometime

  • Yep, when you upload textures to SL, they are converted to jpeg 2000 which will alter some/all of the colors in your texture. And since the colors of the sculpt map translate to vertex positions in SL , that means the vertices won't be placed in the same position as you modeled them in blender. For organic shapes it might not matter, but for hard edges its neccessary.

  • @WesternDragon101 You said more tutorial to come...When?? =)

  • @workfornuts never ended up doing more.. totally forgot I did this.. :P hmm.. I will have to do more some time
