I would like to add that the forging methods (Martensitic edge perlite back) makes it next to impossible to produce a straight blade (Perlite is denser then martensite and contracts in cooling which produces the curve) Iron swords can be straight because they DO NOT have 2 different steel structures within them. Straight steel swords do not really have two steel structures in them (No differential cooling). Making a straight sword using japanese forging techniques, next to impossible.
