Mine works perfect on an full HDTV 1080p screen. Sure dropping the 1080 to 720 will make it run smoother but it runs perfect on my 1080. One thing that helped my lag was plugging in my internet directly instead of using the wireless setting. Idk do what you want lol.

all i did was turn off the PS2 stuff (dumb slim doesnt support PS2 games anyway, why use it?) and turn off the video 24 hz HDMI output. skyrim runs a lot faster in my opinion, too busy playing it to see if i can go back to play places that were laggy before

But then I got PS3 and found out myself, that consoles are drawback in terms of performance and limiting games.

Games must be played at 60 fps minimum, otherwise that fine choppiness when moving ingame camera kills all the graphics and player's eyes.

This is a weird problems. I played at three different locations and 2 tv's were hd and they ran poorly. On an old CRT tv this game ran fine. I myself had an xbox and the game ran better. Far better. But this is the only game I have problems with. I will try mw2. Thanks forth great video

honestly i cant blame the ps3 for havin frame rate issues. I own n xbox & a ps3 but the xbox is catered to IMO because we pay to play so we get better service from providers. Hence this service is given to the many competitive players that are on it. I think now that MLG has signed the 2 year contract with Playstation that a little more consideration & effort might be applied to MW3 because essentially COD was getting payed by MLG for xbox & now PS3 has COD.

The frame rate on games is because of porting problems of developers, not the PS3! When they do a game on xbox first then they port it on the ps3, the game will have what they call glitches. Thos glitches include frame rate issues as well. So stop blaming the ps3 fauld, because then why would Sony make a gaming console?

As far as i am aware by changing 24Hz ouput you are doing nothing to help gameplay issues, the 24Hz setting is for watching Blu-Ray movies as they are intended to be watched, hence why it is under video settings and not game or display settings! The simple reason for this, which i dont really like since i am a PS3 owner is that the PS3 simply cannot hack the games. The biggest game to suffer imo is Fallout 3 the PS3 is simply uncapable of playing this game how its intended, so i play on the PC

@Dynamo176 It's not the console's fault, it's the game developers. They build the game for the XBOX 360 and then port it over to the PS3. Because the PS3 and the XBOX 360 have different graphics cards, the game is going to handle differently on both consoles. And because the developers made the game primarily for the XBOX, the PS3 version has some faults. Simple enough?

But why does the game struggle to run on a system with better hardware than the system it was originally designed for? I don't think it's the game developers, because the PC version runs amazingly well on my PC and the Xbox version runs great on my 360, the only system that has problems is the PS3.

@Dynamo176 Well, you have a good point. My guess would be because of compatibility issues, but I'm just not sure why the PS3 has these problems. What I do know, however, is that if the games were made for the PS3's GPU and CPU, then a) they may not run well on the XBOX 360, or b) the games will take up multiple disks on the 360 because of lack of storage space on a standard disk: (i.e. Final Fantasy XIII, and L.A. Noir)

I can confirm that changing the PS3 to run at 720P makes a huge difference in making Black Ops run smoother - I am going to try changing all these other options and see if it helps even more. Sad that we have to do all this - MW2 just ran properly from the start. I'm sure MW3 will not have these problems - IW will do it right.

The Game setting only applies to PS1 and PS2 games, not PS3 ones. So it isn't necessary to turn it off. As well the 24hz thing is for blu-ray playback, not gaming. That isn't necessary either. One more thing, the Cross Color Reduction Filter thing should only be on it you are using composite cables (yellow, red, white) only. Otherwise it should never be on.

Fixes framerate problems, tested it this morning. to all the people complaining it makes it the game looks worse, you're stating the obvious, that's what happens when you from 1080p to 720p, it's not gonna look the same. If you wanna play your games smoother, play with these settings, if you want them pretty, play with all of these turned on? I alternate between the two because i only really noticed a difference for call of duty, battlefield bad company 2 was relativiely the same as before.

so i'd say this is purely an indiviadual problem, either with your ps3 or with your game.

@S6SIX doesn't it also have to do with the game engine? cause on both ps3 and xbox versions the zombie mode has crazy framerate issues in later rounds which i think is due to the problem of having big maps along with the graphics making it hard for the game to keep up with 60 fraps. so if you dumb down the graphics (which are meant to run at 720p anyway) then it should be easier for the game to handle, thus having less framerate issues.

My DENON AV Receiver does not like your settings... It accepted them the first time but after a shutdown of the system, my DENON seems to be unable to pickup the HDCP handshake from the PS3...

Back to 'default' settings :)
