Lol, this used to be my old job when I was in the Air Force. We worked on the C-5 Galaxies, though. They're bigger than KC-135's.  It was fun and rewarding at the same time. Fuel Cell!

@jc1234567890able Yes it is. That was a very small portion of what a fuel systems repair mechanic does. You've never had a fuel leak drench your BDU's with jet fuel, or been woozy from inhaling fumes. That stuff can kill you. All kinds of debris from the tank gets in your hair and it's toxic to the skin. A lot of the chemicals we use are considered bio-hazards and have to be disposed of as hazardous waste.. It's why you have to wear all that gear. It's a nasty job inside a tank, man.

@faosfx claustrophobia is the fear of enclosed tight spaces, not of the darkness. they fear small rooms whether lit or dark. i believe the fear comes from the feeling that the walls are closing in on you, and is a leftover instinct from more primitive days were logically it wouldve been dangerous to be in a tight area where you might become stuck and die. Same as the natural (but now useless) instinct to be afraid of the dark.

The only time i'll be claustrophobic is if you throw me in an enclosed room full of deadly poisonous snakes. Well maybe thats just ophidiophobia but I would get the thought that one would jump out at me, coil me up and suffocate me, then swallow me whole and disgest me with its powerful acids which from what I heard can dissolve even bones! Talked about being wiped off from the face of the earth completely with no remains to be found.

I believe this was filmed in McConnell AFB, Kansas. I was a tank rat for the KC-135 stationed at McConnell AFB. I do not miss this job at all! The tasks itself wasn't bad... I just hated being around the fume and toxic chemicals for the jobs. One of the hardest task is to remove and replace the tank to engine manifold valves without cutting the seals.
