@Rostokouban Well France has never been to war with America but the French public have a history of being anti-American going back to ww2. They also have a history of being the most anti-Semitic people in Europe. It also goes back to De Gaulle and his hatred of Churchill and Eisenhower - he hated the fact that France capitulated to the Germans and had to be saved by the Americans. P.S. Whats the difference between Frenchmen and toast ?.. You can make soldiers out of toast !
@bhoyjack sorry, but you are speaking about a country you obviously don't know well, my grand grand parents were only farmers during the war but they helped with other people a RAF pilot who was shot down near their village... and I'm sure they would have done the same for an american pilot... and I don't like your insulting jokes so stop it, we are not 5 years old children hear, we can speak seriously...
@bhoyjack Youve got nothing to say other than silly jokes. Ask Das Reich or the SD or the Milice traitors about the French. @townsley2 Im english and I am not sly and treacherous. The french may have lost some times but thats only inevitable, if you compare its many victories. The french could say that we english are cowards and failures as well becuase we lost america and infact the entire empire. So to conclude, both the French and the English are equaly good, in different ways, having rose and fell at different times. Who agrees with me?
In the battle of yorktown there was about 600 British casualties and about 250 American casualties. Firing volleys from 150-100 yards away with the weaponry of the day wouldn't create many casualties. Each volley at that distance probably only knocked down 20-40 people depending on how many people were firing, and how many they were firing at.
However, as purely a military history buff here, I do find the rebellion (sorry thats what it was, it was our territory and our land by law, not a battle for 'freedom' considering half the reason of the war was for you to keep slavery, quite ironic really, but thats another story) many of the tactics used were very similar to modern day, and caused the Empire to re think its policies after Great Britain lost the american colonies.
That was my first reenactment I was in. I serve in the 8th PA of the Continental Army as a Private. I am actually in this DVD too. The reenactment was my favorite to date. I was on the far left flank of the continentals, near the french, and when the french took redoubt 9 we were right behind them fighting the british. From my viewpoint of the battle, it was as if I was living a story that had been written by a soldier, the discription was identical.
No wonder the English lost the war, we faced France,Spain, Holland and rebellious colonials. Without their European Allies the Traitors would have been doomed. We should have strung them up on trees rather than treat them as enemy soldiers.
Not exactly. The only reason the war wasn't over sooner was because England had a navy that picked up their armies and shipped from safety. That is why they surrendered after the French joined in. Besides, its not our fault you pick on everyone...
We don't pick on every one. We defended our colonies and the majority of the colonial subjects that remained loyal. We were drawn into war with foreign nations to protect our liberties and freedom and to remove the thereat to our existence and to uphold the international status quo. The rebellion in the American colonies was motivated by greed and the fear of the eventual loss of slaves as the anti slavery movement gained momentum in Great Britain.
Nobody wants to be Englands bitch, dont you silly people get it? This "rebellion" slapped your country in the face and a "territory" was able to overthrow the oppressive island tyrants.
UGHHHHH dude first of all its called British/English. 2nd of all you cant choose if your a brit or not unless you move to england and gain citizenship. Also DONT THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE A PERSON IS 1 THING DOSENT MEAN THAT THEY DONT WANT TO BE SOMTHING ELSE ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Nobody wants to be Englands bitch, dont you silly people get it? This "rebellion" slapped your country in the face and a "territory" was able to overthrow the oppressive island tyrants."
Coming from a Brit- good on ya. But just a few things wrong with that- fire, it wasn't the English you were fighting, but the British.
Second, while we may have raised your tea taxes and what not (The people of Britain were actually taxed much higher), you had oppressed the Natives far far worse.
Some small "rotten boroughs" hat representation, whils huge cities of tens of thousands inhabitants had none. The System, how many representatives a region had, was a very old and strage one. Also, the Colonies did a great deal in starting the French and Indian war, and when they realised, they could not handle the French on their own, the cried for help from the govenment. And as soon as the colonists were to pay some of that costs, and care for the soldiers, they went mad, unwilling to pay.
Technically, it was England. Its not too hard if you dig around to find that scottish people, and irish hated the english at the time, an overwhelming majority too. Welsh was england's bitch at the time and still is, they dont have a parliament and dont get a say in what english parliament does to their land since they're too cowardly to stand up to it, same as scotland.
England doesn't have a Parliament. On the other hand, northern Ireland and Scotland do- they actually have more rights and sway over their countries then we do ours. For example, Scottish MP's voted no for university grants in England, but Scottish people can go to Uni for free (Using mostly English taxes).
Also, Scottish people were not overwhelmingly anti-English. Not at all. Scotland first created the Union, and most Scots helped fight or at least supported the fight against the Jacobites during the Jacobite Rebellion (And the Jacobites were happy to fight for us after the rebellion)
Wales is a difficult one. They have been more or less one with England for so long there isn't really any hatred between us. There is friendly rivalry, but thats the extent of it.
Wtf? Jacobites werent even fighting for scottish independence so i dont understand what your getting at..
and me watching braveheart? Havent even seen a clip of it. And majority of scots are too complacent to give a fuck anymore, since it wont make any difference whatsoever whether we are independant or not, to the common people anyway
My point is the Scottish people were perfectly happy to support the British and fight against the Jacobites. They could easily have refused if they disliked Britain as much as you claim and helped the Jacobites gain what they wanted
It seems to me that YOU want Scottish independence, even if the Scottish don't. How can you call them complacent and cowardly for choosing the future of their country?
Anyway, like I said- the Scottish created the Union, so why would they be unhappy with it?
I wad born in Scotland and have studied Scottish history. I also have many Scottish friends. I know what I am talking about (At least more then you seem to)
migrant, whatever :( you say you were born here but from that i suppose you fancy yourself a traitorous smartarse or brought up english, same thing though i believe
I consider myself British. My mum and dad are English, but I was born in Scotland (although brought up in England). But British is easier then having to say all of that.
Seriously though. Scotland first created the Union under King James IV, our last two Prime Ministers were Scottish, Scottish people get more spent on them per person then the English, they have their own Parliament while the English don't, the Queen is more Scottish then she is English, and finally, the majority of Scots are perfectly happy with the Union.
Seriously, I think you have watched too much Braveheart (and I wouldn't be surprised if you learnt about the Revolution through The Patriot)
Very good video I wearing Grenadiers uniform but Austrian from age 1798 last time a wear it was on austerlitz 2007 (very good battle 800 soldiers was been there) . VIVAT KAISER FRANZ 1 and grettings from Czech Republic (from 59. infatry regiment Leopold Joseph Maria von Daun later Langois)
@130759 Well the French had to get a victory sometime against the British i suppose - even if it was with the help of the Americans. The French generally tended to get whipped by us Brits (Waterloo etc..) . Oh and who do you think has been Americas better ally - France or Britain ?......
@LutzDerLurch The first 2 million americans (population at the time of revolution) were primarily english in origin. Afterwards not many englishmen came to america. The English bloodline only exists in some parts of the south and new england.
This is fucking bravery and heroic! Those were the real soldiers. How many of us would stand still and dont move in front of the muzzles of the rifles which we know they would leave devastating wounds nowadays? This is real courage and deserves a deep respect.May All them heroes rest in peace.

Welsh was england's bitch at the time and still is, they dont have a parliament and dont get a say in what english parliament does to their land since they're too cowardly to stand up to it, same as scotland.

Your ignorance astounds me...

Azog150 2 years ago
CenturyGamer 2 years ago
My point is the Scottish people were perfectly happy to support the British and fight against the Jacobites. They could easily have refused if they disliked Britain as much as you claim and helped the Jacobites gain what they wanted
It seems to me that YOU want Scottish independence, even if the Scottish don't. How can you call them complacent and cowardly for choosing the future of their country?
Anyway, like I said- the Scottish created the Union, so why would they be unhappy with it?

Read some records gille-toine maybe then you will figure it out

I wad born in Scotland and have studied Scottish history. I also have many Scottish friends. I know what I am talking about (At least more then you seem to)
Azog150 2 years ago
Maybe. But i am scottish which makes a massive difference, while you are just an immigrant, no better than a paki i reckon
CenturyGamer 2 years ago
An immigrant? WTF are you on about? I was born in Scotland. My mums maiden name is Anderson.
Azog150 2 years ago
migrant, whatever :( you say you were born here but from that i suppose you fancy yourself a traitorous smartarse or brought up english, same thing though i believe
CenturyGamer 2 years ago
I consider myself British. My mum and dad are English, but I was born in Scotland (although brought up in England). But British is easier then having to say all of that.
Azog150 2 years ago
i knew you weren't scottish in any way :), most english are fervent unionists

@CenturyGamer At least a paki wont give you aids or rape one of your children unlike a scotch cunt.

@hsybcmpny Are you on drugs ?....

@130759 Well the French had to get a victory sometime against the British i suppose - even if it was with the help of the Americans. The French generally tended to get whipped by us Brits (Waterloo etc..) . Oh and who do you think has been Americas better ally - France or Britain ?......

@130759 If you are a white American you are indeed very likely decendent of englishmen yourself.
LutzDerLurch 7 months ago
@LutzDerLurch The first 2 million americans (population at the time of revolution) were primarily english in origin. Afterwards not many englishmen came to america. The English bloodline only exists in some parts of the south and new england.
Pooternackle5 6 months ago
@Pooternackle5 British blood is far from scarce. Still quite high probability of having british ancestors, when being a white american.
LutzDerLurch 6 months ago
@LutzDerLurch you have more chance to have german or irish blood than english for being honest. English origins mean nothing now.

This is fucking bravery and heroic! Those were the real soldiers. How many of us would stand still and dont move in front of the muzzles of the rifles which we know they would leave devastating wounds nowadays? This is real courage and deserves a deep respect.May All them heroes rest in peace.
