Personally, I imagine that it's to protect both parties (especially in U of U vs. BYU games) from getting hurt or going to jail.

I know this one kid he went to see BYU vs UTah St and he got heck for wearing a BYU shirt and He showed his ticket and the Staff said Ok your fine. I was a BYU student (Utah fan) with a student ticket at a game a few years back in that exact same section. They made me show my BYU ID to prove I was a student. I did that and they tried to tell me it was a "BYU cheering section". I called BS and stayed since I was a BYU student with a student ticket. I've never been threatened like that or had that many F-words thrown at me before, even by the chicks.

The all-time series isn't representative of the programs. Utah's sports programs were well established long before BYU's. Check the series year by year, and you'll see just how docile Utah has been overall since BYU figured things out.

The ONLY timeframe in which BYU owns ANYTHING is 35 years.
5 years, Utah has more football wins, a 3-2 lead head to head, a 5-0 bowl record, and 2 BCS appearances. BYU is 2-2 in bowl games against the PAC-10's #4 or 5 seed. In Hoops, BYU has 13 more wins and 2 more NCAA appearances, but Utah has more NCAA wins than BYU has in the last 19 years.
10 years.. Utah has an 85-36 football record and an 8-0 bowl record, while BYU has a 78-46 football record and a 2-5 bowl record. Utah basketball has a LOT more wins, as well as a sweet 16 appearance and 3 other 2nd round appearances. BYU has 5 consecutive first round exits.
15 years. BYU puts a top 10 finish on the map, and they claim the lead in victories with a 124-64 record. Unfortunately, Utah's record is 122-55.. so BYU goes ahead by 2 wins, but still trails by 9 losses. Using NBA logic, Utah maintains a 3.5 game lead over BYU. Utah also owns the head to head 9-6, and oh yeah, that awesome top 10 finish BYU had in 1996? Utah has 3 of them in this timeframe (94, 04, and 08). Utah also maintains a 9-2 bowl record to BYU's 4-6.
Going back 15 years in basketball.. BYU Also breaks new ground.. They finally get a win in the tournament in 1993... Unfortunately, Utah is 9-2 in the first round in that timeframe, and has 16 total NCAA wins in that timeframe.

@jrdnlott6 Actually, he/she would get kicked out. it's in the rules that the opposing team's fans cannot sit in the BYU student fan section. They get placed in other seats. Personally, I imagine that it's to protect both parties (especially in U of U vs. BYU games) from getting hurt or going to jail.

The funniest part about this video is when the event staff does finally kick him out, they are hailed as heroes. It just shows you how big of douche bags the fans and administration of BYU is. I was a BYU student (Utah fan) with a student ticket at a game a few years back in that exact same section. They made me show my BYU ID to prove I was a student. I did that and they tried to tell me it was a "BYU cheering section". I called BS and stayed since I was a BYU student with a student ticket. I've never been threatened like that or had that many F-words thrown at me before, even by the chicks.
Thanks everyone for giving me one more reason to leave BYU.

The only haters I know are Utah haters that hate the fact Utah won 2 bcs bowls in the last 5 years. The "byu" fans I know get way more excited for a Utah game just hoping they lose. Then they ask what the byu score was.

The all-time series isn't representative of the programs. Utah's sports programs were well established long before BYU's. Check the series year by year, and you'll see just how docile Utah has been overall since BYU figured things out.

The ONLY timeframe in which BYU owns ANYTHING is 35 years.
5 years, Utah has more football wins, a 3-2 lead head to head, a 5-0 bowl record, and 2 BCS appearances. BYU is 2-2 in bowl games against the PAC-10's #4 or 5 seed. In Hoops, BYU has 13 more wins and 2 more NCAA appearances, but Utah has more NCAA wins than BYU has in the last 19 years.

10 years.. Utah has an 85-36 football record and an 8-0 bowl record, while BYU has a 78-46 football record and a 2-5 bowl record. Utah basketball has a LOT more wins, as well as a sweet 16 appearance and 3 other 2nd round appearances. BYU has 5 consecutive first round exits.

15 years. BYU puts a top 10 finish on the map, and they claim the lead in victories with a 124-64 record. Unfortunately, Utah's record is 122-55.. so BYU goes ahead by 2 wins, but still trails by 9 losses. Using NBA logic, Utah maintains a 3.5 game lead over BYU. Utah also owns the head to head 9-6, and oh yeah, that awesome top 10 finish BYU had in 1996? Utah has 3 of them in this timeframe (94, 04, and 08). Utah also maintains a 9-2 bowl record to BYU's 4-6.

Going back 15 years in basketball.. BYU Also breaks new ground.. They finally get a win in the tournament in 1993... Unfortunately, Utah is 9-2 in the first round in that timeframe, and has 16 total NCAA wins in that timeframe.
Clearly, Utah has been plenty docile since BYU "figured things out". In fact it seems as though BYU only has ANY athletic history because of a 20 year span in which Utah forgot how to maintain their dominance.

The diiference is BYU Fottball NC came in OUR era. utah's basketball NC came back when TV was still black and white and it was the NIT championship which was the NC back then, and the set shot was in style!..Hey, your grandpa may remember it!
BYU haters masquerading as utah fans always crack me up. The 20 people who show up for their home games have a conversation like this "Oh I hate BYU so much!....I haven't been back to church because of........." They don't even watch the games!

OK People! I was the one who took this video, trust me when I say this.The fans were not even close to hurting anyone... it was just fun making noise!! They camped out all night and it was 2 hours till game time... they were just trying to get excited for the game.. and that UTE fan was an IDIOT!!! Who comes to a BYU vs UTAH game and stands in the middle of the student section then rips off his shirt to reveal red? (even in a white out game) He is asking for it!! PS MittReagan get a life..

For years I have posited that people of mainstream faith who are considering joining the Mormon Church attend a football game at BYU-Provo. Between the BYU-Provo fans in this video accosting the Ute fan like something right out of Carthage and BOOING one of their own during the prayer that they have to have before their own games, BYU-Provo fans really showed their mettle Saturday. Now I can just tell them to watch this video. I sincerely thank those who filmed and posted it.

Go to the 1:05 mark and hear the Y fan yell, "Get the F out of our stadium". I'm so glad my faith is represented by such outstanding individuals. Y fans do more to make the church look bad than anyone else ever has. I'm also glad that the Y fans feel that they can go to opposing teams' venues and sit wherever they want, but they do not afford others the same courtesy. If this kid's shirt had something offensive written on it, I would understand. He is merely there supporting his team.

BYU is and always will be attended by the hypocrites of my faith. If this situation were reversed, the Y fans would be up in arms claiming discrimination. It is interesting that the posts by Y fans here completely condone what happened.

Well, according to Ute logic, that NC shouldn't count as it was a LONG time ago. (As BYU's NC in football wasn't supposed to count as it was so long ago...according to a Ute.) To me it counts, but I guess it depends on who's logic we're using. BYU logic, or Ute logic.

Actually, Church leaders will dismiss it all as "good clean fun" -- just like they did when Brigham Young herself ordered the slaughter of 127 Americans who were just passing through Mountain Meadows.
Booing during the prayer was even worse. If the Republicans had at least chosen me for their VP nominee instead of someone even prettier than I (didn;t think it was possible), Cougar fans wouldn;t be all hot and bothered.
