it's illegal in Norway for some reason..i think it's because the population of salmon and trout is so low..we can't even use nets in the sea up her..stupid if u ask me.
my english ain't that good ,so sorry if i miss spell anything.
This is a traditional way to ice fish with nets, exept we use modern equipment. Since I made that video, we have had very mild winters, so we haven't done much fishing like this. Normally the nets are left in the water as long as they are clean enough. They are pulled in once a day and the fish are removed (always leaving one cord under the ice so you can pull the net back again or you can tie another net to the cord). The size of the fish depends on the size of the holes in the nets.
I still didn't get it. Why go through all that business with holes and strings and whatever that was when you could just chop your hole and drop a line and catch fish?
Thanks! I reall meant to make a continuation showing how to pull out the fish too, but I hurt my foot pretty bad (slipping on the ice!) and the doctors told me not to walk on it for weeks. By the time it got better most of the ice had melted. Maybe I'll tube the fish-getting part next winter and put it in as a response to this one :)
The ice has melted now, maybe next winter :) We caught perches, flounders, burbots, pike-perches and such. To take out the fish, take the hook; pull up the cord in the far end; attach that end of the net to the long (red) cord on the ice; go to the hole in the ice at the other end and pull in the net; take out the fish; pull the other end of the long (red) cord; the net is pulled back under the ice; attach the net at both ends to the cords that are frozen in to the ice and keep it in place.
cool.

Because the Bambi Brigades here in the West don't want anything killed except human fetuses in the womb.
