  • This is lovely......

  • goood stuff man gotta love hendrix where has our society gone to man peace

  • I like this but it's good to know about the overdubbing, sessions musicians, and back-up singers. Do they get credit on the albums? Who are they? I don't have Midnight Landing and Crash Landing. A lot of session musicians have come out these last few years to talk about what they did, especially those who weren't credited on records. A lot of it is news to me. They should be credited on the records and video descriptions. Just saying. (:

  • I hear Hendrix singing his songs. That's good enough for me.

  • 0:28 thats a real funny picture of him with the beard

  • today i thought hey... why dont i test my dr. dre headphones out today hAHAHA

  • get stoned and listen to this, it's awesome :)...

  • Happpy Birhtday Jimi!

  • best version of this tune.

  • This is a song about me.

  • I'm an Alan Douglas fan. I have the original recordings before the overdubs- Those original tunes were never polished by Jimi and some of Buddy Miles drumming is fricking beyond awlful. If you cant stand the Douglas releases-- then get the Originals. I also support Alan's work on Nine to the Universe, Blues and Concerts Not a fan of his IOW and Woodstock with the editing of the goofy crowd noise. Id rather of had Alan Douglas than not of had him at all. Exp Hendrix is just as bad at hackin

  • jimi is one badass dude

  • everywhere you go and everything you do......there will always be someone that doesnt like you for what you do...."fuckem"

  • my favorite hendrix records are electric ladyland the cry of love and the band of gypsys live at the fillmore east 1969

  • Jimi's time in England comes through in how he wrote poetry, as in, "Lord may I come along" is confessing his need to grow and I wanna spread a lotta love around" In the uk, they may say "he/she is coming along nicely. They're evolving, producing, growing.

  • This is still Jimi pickin and singin isn't it? More people need to hear this song. Next its on to Jim Croce for I've got a name.

  • please may i come along?

  • Wish this was on itunes.

  • @TRCrews

you can get Crash Landing and Midnight lightning on Ebay?

if not then send me a message on my youtube channel and i can burn you a disk

  • One of the best Hendrix songs ever! Had it on cassette but can't find it on CD. Thanks for posting!!!

  • i think people rag on douglas too much. he was in a difficult position in that he was trying to keep jimi's music relevant during a time when hendrix style of music was no longer popular. he also had to use tapes that were incomplete or that were lacking backing tracks. all things considered he did a good job keeping jimi's name out there and not exploiting his name and music like Janie Hendrix

  • Guys, you should realise that Alan Douglas, the producer of the posthumous albums "Midnight Lightning" and "Crash Landing" overdubbed almost every song with session musicians. So what you're hearing, wasn't originally made or produced by Hendrix, except for his guitar playing, but then that's it.

  • @Dns2080,

So... do you think he did a good job?

I love Midnight Landing and Crash Landing (1975), just because they don't sound like any of Jimi's other releases before or since.

And these tracks have Jimi's guitar and his vocals...

Jeff Mirinov did an excellent job on guitar complimenting Jimi's playing!

The controversy seems to stem from Douglas replacing Noel Redding, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles parts with session musicians, but I think the results speak for themselves... a #5 album!

  • @clayopalstar yea man but its put out there like its jimi's stuff. its not the way it was supposed to be or was initially intended by hendrix. but its still good though i cant lie

  • @clayopalstar i like that "douglas way", it's excellent job...

  • Comment removed

  • @Dns2080 I grew up listening to Jimi. Midnight Lightning & Crash Landing were my favorite Jimi albums long before I heard about the Alan Douglas overdubbing controversy. They are still special to me...I could care less about how the albums were made...they have a depth and artistry that speaks for itself. If I could only have three Jimi albums...I'd pick Midnight Lightning, Crash Landing, and Band of Gypsies.

  • @Dns2080 yeah but he wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary for the time or even now,and this is all music that would have been buried under the shelves by the music industry....obviously they wanted to cash in on his unfinished music(which didn't happen resulting discontinuation of alot of these albums) ,but in doing so they have only served to spread his music and his message, which I believe was a message of love.......

  • Man thanks alot for this upload. First time I heard it, grabbed my guitar and started to improvise

  • Jimi- is the crown jewell of past present and future music. This song is epic beauty.

  • I just have to say. I really love this track. It makes me expand my mind and just think about everything. I love that Jimi Hendrix's music can do that for me. Also I didn't know of this song until Rosa Lee posted it on facebook yesterday. I was overjoyed and pretty happy. Thank you for posting this!

  • Thank you. I've been looking for this for years!

  • I remember hearing this for the first time when I was little. My dad played a vinyl copy. When that "solo" started, I made my dad check the record player because I was convinced that something wasn't working right. lol

  • what a beautiful melody, it just caresses the soul.

  • I've never had a song fuck with my head like this one does...always puts me in a daze

  • Does anyone know where I can find the guitar tab for this song?

  • @yieldhog ears :)

  • Great one.

  • Quality tune by far the best even if it's an import "WHATEVER"

  • Great Upload! I love this song by Jimi! I have this album, too. Peace.

    Jerry

  • My dad has this record, he bought it in the army, i discovered it in his collection. When im not feeling good or feel like im not going anywhere in my life, i put this song on and get put into a trance....

Sooo goood!!! I absolutely love the backing vocals by far!!

  • where have the lyric of this song?? Anyone can send me ?

  • PS, great photography.

    thanx again,

  • PS, I actually hit 480p and it sounds even bettter.

one thing I've always wondered its why on earth don't they rerelease ALL Hendrix is SACD or Audio DVD in Dolby or DTS,...now that would take us to the ourter reaches of the Milky Way.

    what a genius.

  • And it's sourced from my 1975 vinyl copy of Midnight Lightning... even burned to cdr, you still retain that living warmth that only an analog needle singing down the groove of a record can give you.

Both Crash Landing and Midnight Lightning were put down by critics and fans alike at the time they were released in 1975, but I love the albums because they have a different feel to them than any other recordings... and since they have never been widely released on cd, the albums are treasured.

  • @clayopalstar my dad bought midnight lightning at the PX when he was in the army. He liked it, but because alot of other fans didnt like it, it kinda just sat on the shelf, i discovered this gem while cleaning out the garage one day and threw it on, the rest of the album is ok, and i was kinda like "ehhh whatever" and then this song came on....i was like WOW I HAVE TO LISTEN TO THAT OVER AND OVER AND OVER NOW!!!

  • @1Delta theres no difference between 360 and 480...

  • @NONAMEWTF I know 120 differences 8>)

  • clayopalstar, thanx for the headsup on higher quality upload. this has got to be one of the best blues ballads ever. gospel background singers, that fretless sliding that Hendrix does, and that slowy dripping waterfall as the ambience. this exact recording belongs in the library of Congress. it's that original. even Hendrix's singing is so reverent.

    it's simply a masterpiece.

    thanx for the email.

  • Thanks

  • Thank you too!
