Nowadays I belong to the older generation who was very young when Deep Purple came up. A friend of mine had the LP "Deep Purple" and I was drawn to "April" played by Deep Purple. With a -little bit romanticizing- good memory of that music I have pity for the young people of today that they have only the crap it is called music these days.

Plenty of people love songs for plenty of other reasons. I'm a girl, but my name is Erin. I love Deep Purple. I also love Donovan Leitch who did this song originally. This is actually the first time I've heard the Deep Purple version. :)

Has Ian Gillan sang any of these older songs when he joined Deep Purple. Would be kind of weird back in 1969 after they hire him to replace Rod Evans and NOT expect him to sing what they were well known for at that time. I would like to see Ian Gillan try to pull off any of the Rod Evan's stuff.

Donovan Leitch will never be forget! I didn't remember when Deep Purple recorded this, but it's great! Donovan was one of the best '60s composer, and just to you have an idea, I order 2 weeks ago his album Mellow Yellow (I had it on vinyl back then, but it's gone) and it's just Beautiful, It's still fresh as it was in the mid sixties! Pay attention to the "Hurdy Gurdy Man", guys!
