  • @bloodelfoo Eye of the tiger! How long have you been in a hole?

  • This video may be on windows or linux, no one can tell.

Upload a video in window mode of the game, and shows us the character screen, then i believe you!

I have tried all the guide on the net, and when i finally got the wotlk dvd open and i install it, it tells me to install BC.

I have not yet seen anyone who has the wotlk installed on there linuxbox.

untill someone is uploading af video of the character screen, is not true.

  • check my video " Los " you'll see wotlk running in window mode,

now im sure if you search in you tube you can find more...

lol install Wotlk its cake , now about cataclysm not sure yet...!

  • @Hyggen76 I've actually been playing WoW Exclusively on linux for two and a half years.

Only problem I had with the Wotlk install DVD was that since it was dual layer I had to load it up in data mode and just copy the file contents out to the harddrive and install from there.

Everything else was perfect, any bugs i came across were also affecting windows and mac users.

  • @airtonix I will try that when i buy a gamecard, last time i just install the wotlk from dvd. So the onlything i have not done is cp it to my harddrive and then install.

  • One of the other things you might need to pay attention to is regarding hotkeys.

If you use alt as a modifier for macros or your actionbars, then you will need to change the "movement key" in gnome preferences , so from the menu on your top system panel :

system > preferences > windows : change it to "super" (this key isn't used by wow).

(movement key is used to provide some handy window resizing and movement shortcuts in combination with your mouse).

  • l2p

  • lol , what a queer!... tell me how to do it , when you pay for me,,,

    until then STFU ,, Noob

  • your guide would be greatly appreciated! :)

  • As wine 1.1.33 wotlk its easy to install and usually works without any problem,

  • @Ezcut IT does work without problem, you just need to pass wotlk parameter -opengl (/path/to/WoW.exe -opengl). You may eventually want to change that parameter in config file.

  • Hi, I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a toshiba laptop and it"s working really great! love it so far but now i'm wanting to install WINE so i can play WOW. I'v looked at guides and forums and found alot of them were different and im afraid some just dont work. would you please tell me what guide you used or how you did this exactly?..

  • working on it , writing exactly how I did it..

  • @mattguitar1000 try the application 'PlayOnLinux', pretty self explainatory.

  • @mattguitar1000

    1) add the wine ppa repo

    2) sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install wine

    3) insert wow vanilla disc1

    4) the rest is done the same as it is on windows.
