It has to do with the frame rate that the show is filmed in (30 fps) - it happens quite a bit on Top Gear..

Bugatti is making a HUGE loss with the Veyron. The F1 was designed to sell for a profit while the Veyron is just designed to make the VW group look good.

Can't find any accurate numbers, but from what I've heard, Bugatti would have to sell the Veyron for 4 or 5 times it's current price just to break even.

4Million dollar loss on every car sold. THAT is a failure.

Its easy to design an impressive car if you have unlimited funds.

i never said it was a failure. the mclaren is probably my favorite car, especially the LM. But you said that McLaren said Bugatti was a failure. And you thought that because Mclaren said it, it was automatically correct and true. I'm saying the people from Bugatti could say the McLaren is a failure and you'd have to honor their statement.

And if Bugatti makes about 200-300 models (i think thats whats planned), they would make more money off that because when McLarens came out, they were selling for about 1 million. Not sure how many they made but Bugatti has higher gross income received payment than mclaren does. all and all, i love both cars but would probably take an LM over a Veyron.

Bugatti makes more revenue than McLaren did, but McLaren sold about 100cars and made a profit while Bugatti makes a HUGE loss even if they make and sell all 300cars.

Development and manufacturing of the Bugatti was/is so expensive that they wouldn't make a profit even if they sold them for 5million a piece.

Well it is due to the speed of the camera shutter, and the speed of the rims. Like when the wheels seems to run backwards slowly when the car is moving forwards...

The technical name is the stroboscopic effect. The camera actually takes 30 to 60 still frames a second (depending on the camera) and if the spokes on the rim are at the same spot whenever the camera takes another frame, it will seem like the rims aren't moving. The effect is also visible around street lights which actually turn on and off at a high rate of speed (alternating current).
