does it plug directly into any tube amp? what is a PREAMP exactly? cuz he got some amazing tones from that thing

An amp is made up of a preamp, poweramp, and a speaker. Those can be all together for a combo amp or separately. A head is just a power amp and a preamp. The MP-1 was just a preamp so it just shapes sound and tone, doesn't produce it so to speak, thats why you need a power amp to power the speaker to hear the preamp work. And you could have the MP-1 plugged into a tube power amp if you so choose. That would help out.

@boringbadly111 I have on on my Fender G-Dec amp and i havnt found use for it except it is coll to lower the pitch so it sounds like the second guitar is a bass which is doing exactly what you do, but yeah it does sound bad otherwise
