1:37 - Horn line from "If You Want Me To Stay" by Sly and the Family Stone. It's AWESOME how they worked that in there, cause it really goes SOOOO well with this tune.
Wonderful Guitar player. I think he kinda looks like a character from a Dr. Suess Book. Ha! You like Horton hears a Who. hahaha! Doesn't matter though. My man can play the mess out of that guitar. Mad props to him.
trust me juniormorrison69, no matter what guitarist, what style or anything else for that matter, learn it by ear. Takes more time yes, but developes your ear tones and the little "accidents" will build onto your own style. I made the mistake of doing too much tab searching for learning songs when I was younger, its much better(IMO) to tune up and try and learn it by ear. Even if you only get it 90% right, the extra 10% thats wrong will most likely still fit and help you develope your chops.
I play, definitly won't say I'm anywhere near Tim's level, I would call him a true acoustic master, one of the few at that level. But, he simply can't handle electrics that well, doesn't every really use many different techniques he CAN be applying to the same notes to give em different feeling. And, his guitar is WAY too loud compared to the rest of the band. Kind of would like to see him gone next tour, want to be able to hear Boyd again. Tim just doesn't fit in 2 the original feel of the band
Yeah, Warren Haynes i much better, got to agree(is 41 solo gave me goosbumps all over) And I don't want to put Tim down. I hate comparing guitarist. but, its not like say comparing Jimmy, Jimi and SRV for instance. All electric guitar virtuosos AND great on acoustic. But w/ Tim, for anyone who plays alot of electric you can tell he doesn't know all the little subtleties of accents, tonal definition or reallly the art of soloing...
my take is that it sounds exactly like who's playing
the twist, albeit, rehearsed, it still sounds like a jam session, so like i said sounds like dmb, and what ever tim can contribute has always been more than fine with me, although i agree there are time's i don't like what he plays much, as long as u r happy/satisfied SOME of the time, u have more than many others
monotonous and boring?...that's called musicality buddy...sorry he didn't play enough mindless 32nd note runs through every jazz scale he knows...i believe that was the earlier hour and a half of the show ...and yea of course it's fine to disagree with you since your blatantly wrong...he played parts of a familiar theme while the horns and carter played a supporting part at the end to lighten the jam and make it catchier...sorry to be mean but you made a pretty bold claim that's completely wrong
I agree joelioes. I think tim is one of the most amazing acoustic players out there, especially when he's creating a nice background ambience for the main melody. But as far as soloing goes, Tim really doesn't have much to really inspire me. Now if you check out Warren Haynes soloing over 41...HOL SHIT! Thats a good example of a guitar player that can really put together a solo on the fly, w/o a bunch of useless notes; thats starts out slow and explodes into a monster climax. That dude has soul!
i have nothing against this guy...but if you compare his solo here and Warren's it's a totally different feel...with Warren's you got goosebumps and you can see that this guy really give everything to serve the song..what Tim does is just playing fast...which really turn this song off...and really, his volume swell in the end was just annoying...compare that feedback-swell with Hendrix feedback...well,you can't compare anybody with Hendrix..he's god.. :D

kind of would like to see this comment erased because timmy gives the band a complete different, fuller, and better sound than with out him.
