I used to want joey and dawson together but watching this show over the years. You realize maybe hidden truth to their relationship. They were great friends and will always be that way but when they tried to make it more, It became complicated. Them being together was a child fantasy but the reality was never as good as that fantasy. Think about it, think about what she said. Truth is she wanted the fantasy but the feeling alive was not there. I don't blame her decision to let him go.

i, for one, feel bad for joey. its not like she ever woke up and was like gee i think ill break dawson's heart today. she made mistakes, but everyone does. so im just saying that joey is a very sweet girl at heart & it may take her a little but longer to grow up, but she was what 19 or 20 here? who really knows truly what they want at that age? all im saying is to cut the girl just a tiny bit of slack.

Joey hadn't wanted Dawson for YEARS. She goes to Dawson because he's her security blanket, whenever things get scary, she turns into a 15 yr old when she's around him, in that same room having the same argument over and over again.
I was rooting for DJ from the very first season and I still wished they had gotten together, but this episode made me so angry at Joey. Per normal, she felt free to break Dawson's heart. Over the series, I think that she must have broken his heart five different times. I think that Dawson had really matured, but she was still living in the past and acting like a child. So what, he was seeing some girl who clearly didn't matter, then he dumped her for you Joey. Grow up girl. Goodness.
I have a best friend who is a guy and when your that close it can be confusing and you mistake that closeness for something more but it really isnt. Being super close to a person doesn't mean you have to be in a romantic relationship. We tried it to but it doesn't work, we make fantastic friends but a lousy couple. They really should just let it go.
Maybe, but i think she was in the right here. Dawson had another girlfriend and didn't tell and weren't they always planning to have their first time be special? Well, i'm glad it wasn't, anyway because i'm not a fan of DJo
Their first time in the last episode was a surprise. neither of them PLANNED it. If Dawson had told Joey that he was seeing someone else, say, when they first saw each other that night (at the restaurant), then that testy chick Joey would have had that all-too-familiar "...oh.." moment. Reluctance would completely take over, and they might not have danced, and might not have slept together, EVEN IF Dawson said he would break up with his actress girlfriend. Joey can't see the bigger picture here.
Well then they never would have sex and yay! But alas, Dawson didn't say anything and we had to suffer through it, but what are you going to do? But that usually happens when the person doesn't tell the other they are seeing someone. And anyway, that still is no excuse. He should have told her and if they didn't have sex, too bad. I bet they would have messed it up later on down the line, anyway. They always do.
