  • And just to remember... There's a big quotation mark when I say that LADA begins as a type 2 diabetes. What I mean is that it looks A LOT with type 2 diabetes: insulin resistance followed by insufficient production of insulin. But, unlike type 2 diabetes, the low amount of insulin production isn't caused by an unknown reason. It is caused by autoimminity.

  • And what you said is EXACTLY what happens, man. Oral treatment starts to fail because somehow (it's still not quite elucidated how it works) your autoantibodies levels starts to raise. That's why it's a 'type 2 diabetes' (insulin resistant) that slowly (not quite elucidated the mechanisms) evolves to type 1 diabetes (high levels of autoantibodies)

  • Excellent video, just one remark. Looks like you're saying that latent autoimmune diabetes of the adult (LADA) is just a way they found to classify type 1 diabetes that begins in the adult life. As a matter of fact, there's a misunderstanding while diagnosing LADA due to the fact that these persons have insulin resistance (typical in type 2 diabetes). So LADA isn't just a type 1 diabetes diagnosed in the adult life. You can say that it's a 'type 2 diabetes' that evolved slowly to type 1 diabetes.
