  • the filmer must not be aware of the fact just how close he was while filming to being in a life or death situation

  • Sounded like a waterfall with an airplane nearbye. Good video, thank God you are ok.

  • This specific tornado is probably one of the most recorded tornadoes ever if not the most. I can only imagine that there were probably millions tracking it at the time it was on the ground. I remember watching this tornado on The Weather Channel as it approached and passed over Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I'm surprised its not known by some fearful name. It surely is an infamous tornado on an infamous day. "The Tuscaloosa Big One"? And this year likely will be worse.

  • Look how huge that thing is!!

  • Bad mofo twisster great video! one of the best i have ever seen!

  • Ummmmm,.... Run!

  • That Is Some Creepy Shit.I Wouldve Freaked Out!

  • terrifying. i don't know how those guys could have remained so calm

  • i wuda shat in my pants and cried im dead serious

  • Looks like the Andover ks tornado

  • Scary.

  • I was there and it was TERRIBLE

  • wow so close sad dog

  • wow that is amazing. if i was there, i probably would have been balled up in a corner, and bawling my eyes out lol. not afraid to admit it, i hate big severe storms, im afraid of them lol

  • That's really powerful! This is the first tornado video I've come across where you can actually hear that scary raw

  • omg i was like so scared and after the tornado it was just quiet no sound it was like a ghost town i thank god i didnt get hit but mhyy cuzzo did everybodys ok

  • you are courages retards! nice video though.

  • 1:22, That's what she said. You caught a great tornado. good video.

  • Fist of God. Im so sorry for people who lost everything :( but I must say, this tornado is really amazing.

  • man, that thing is so fucking close!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow Dude it IS on Top of YOU !!! Sh*t

  • VERY well shot, and DAMN you got some fking courage man !

  • wow. for fuc............ sakes you guys barley made it. lucky and at the same time intriguing.

  • I'm not being thick or anything, but where do you go in the event of a tornado, in the basement, bathroom?

I hear a lot of stories and such but, yeh. I live in the UK and even though i think we get more recorded tornado's they are nothing, as in absolutely nothing. :)

  • @MysteriousKiwi Basement would be the safest area. If not that, go to a windowless bathroom, hallway, or a closet in your house. Also, make sure you are on the first floor of your home.

  • @MysteriousKiwi most of these tards ,raised on video/games)dont have tornado shelters.or want them.but the farmers ALL have them.

worst case senario dig a hole under your house,or back yard put trap door in=tornado shelter

  • @MysteriousKiwi I would like to add, that some places have underground shelters, becase an EF4/EF5 Tornado can and will destroy a house in a matter of seconds.

  • that is beautiful :)

  • where is the sirens??

  • @nick06111226 The power may have been cut, which, if they all aren't equipped with battery backup, leaves the sirens inoperable.

  • Man, look at how quickly the vapor condenses at around 1:22, and how quickly it rises!

  • Its starting to look like a triple tornado! :D

  • So just what kept this thing running? What was its power source? Surely there wasn't enough surrounding air to keep it spinning, sucking things up, and moving forward all at the same time?

  • The question is, what kept all of the tornadoes that day running? The answer is a couple of things; the incredibly humid, unstable air from the gulf of mex. combined with La Nina's active winds- They had an incredibly powerful jet stream bearing down on them which only maxed out their movement and development, and when that huge mass of unstable, warm moist air met with a big cold front that collided head-on, every storm exploded. Every single ingredient that day for tornadoes were PERFECT.

  • @DisturbedFrankeh Frightening, very frightening.

  • @Mufaso1000 It truly was. Spectacularly frightening.. This beast traveled 81 miles until it finally ended.

  • @DisturbedFrankeh it looks like this year is shaping up to be just as bad or even WORSE than last year... Let's hope not!!

  • @poodinkydingbat1 Those were my thoughts exactly. We're close to having a record warm winter, I can only cross my fingers and hope droughts don't worsen and more warm-air caps don't blow into the great plains again to spawn another family of tornadic supercells like last year... La Nina is unforgiving :X

  • @poodinkydingbat1 What makes you say that?

  • i was in Tuscoloosa it was under me but im lucky 2 be alive

  • I live at Houndstooth. I def didnt see it when it was this close. i saw it when it was on Hackberry

  • it is definitely a sight to see! Sad thing is the fatalities from that terrible tornado that day.

  • Wow that's so dangerous but I makes for a good video! way to go :)

  • I would have cried like a bitch if I were that close.

  • I was scared to death! :| It was coming straight towards my house and it just turned, (goosebumps.)

  • @YaleGirl97 Thank you.

  • I miss my old city!

  • @TheWaynelds I just read your comment; I did not know that such storm exist. So my question would be " any YouTube videos out here that would show such a tornado in progress ?

  • Oh my God...... That is some scary shit, and the sound of it, pure freaking fear.

  • @ColonelMichaelJNolan And me, in fact, my 18th birthday that's like 1 out of Infinity chance of happening

  • no sirens?

  • runnnn mother fucker runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn, So huge.

  • dang dude u have some balls, i would be taken cover lol

  • @loopz936 why? Wouldnt you want to get closer and get this on video? I know i'd be in the car chasing it while my friend films it.

  • shew. That is a good size tornado. Judging by the dimensions, wind speed, and size, it could annihilate an entire Wal-Mart in a matter of minutes!

  • mate get the fuck out of there dont just bloody stand there fucking ruuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnn

  • @musclefuel19 You can't run from a tornado, especially a tornado that was moving at about 55-60 MPH like this one was.

  • tuscaloosa looks a lot clean now

  • Insane.

  • This tornado has by far the largest updraft I have ever seen! Also the roar from it is not something you get in many videos. Very good job on this video guys.

  • @turbocountry you're right. Whew! Listen to her roar! What a thing of beauty.

But with most things (and especially tornadoes), every rose has it's thorns.

  • that is one big ass son bitch omg!!!!!!

  • My prayers go out to the families who were effected

  • The only problem I have with this video is, all that debris which was casually mentioned were people's houses. Seems a little...insensitive. Impressive footage though, the thing seems to grow right in front of the camera. That was a hell of a day.

  • The amount of uplift is amazing. The updraft is almost as rapid as the rotation.

  • That's crazy. It almost looks like there's an opening in the tornado at 1:48, but if you keep watching it, all the vorticies just slither inside the hole, cover it and keep moving upwards. What an incredible structure and circulation for a tornado.

  • One of the best things about this video is for some reason it gives a good impression of how truly massive this tornado was.

  • I have seen a lot of videos of this tornado, and this one is by far one of the most impressive...

  • Comment removed

  • The sound of that thing is just wicked! Im sure it was a lot more intense in person too.

  • @OceanaxFrederickx dude this tornado hit on my birthday man

  • @traumahawk331 it's called a MESOCYCLONE

  • 1:30 - 1:56 i was literally screaming RUNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • Phew 2:04

  • wow

  • @OceanaxFrederickx its alway same as i reason we always naturally depressed

  • We don't get many tornaodes here in Utah. Though in August of 1999 an F2 did go through down town Salt Lake City.

  • this was on my 15th Birthday as well!!!

  • amazing

  • Is it just me or did I see half a face @2:21 ? This tornado was very scarey and I pray for everyone that lost someone in this monster.

  • @laloquiz1 I agree...Honestly I saw that same face in another clip of this tornado

  • @laloquiz1 No it's not just you, I saw it too but didn't want to be the first to say anything about it if no one else saw it; then I came across your comment... You can see it quite noticeably @2:20, specifically. MANY people have reported seeing MULTIPLE faces within this particular tornado, but the face seen in this video was more skeletal (skull-like) than any of the others I've seen.

  • @kowbungahippy

I know right! That wasn't even funny!

  • Oh hell naw i wood be scrammblin' around tryna get to the lowest floor. LOL! anywaysI'm glad yall were okay. I live in NC, in Jacksonville as a matter of fact. We got hit really bad but not as bad as tuscaloosa. those 3 days of nothing but fear and tornadoes were just inforgettable.

  • FAKE everyone knows theres no such thing as a tornado! lol nah jk great shit dude glad ur ok

  • let's hope thomas made it.

  • im from mobile alabama and i was in tuscaloosa and il tell the ppl who wasnt there when the tornado hit it was not fun at all i was about 300 yards from the tornado

  • to OceanaxFrederickx the tornadoes were on the day of my friends birthday

  • this was terrible i remember sitting an a very tiny bathroom with like 5 or 6 rooms waiting for someone to say we could come out

  • omg how can you be so calm!!! i would have shit my pants!! literally

  • @Blu3Resent this stuff happens all the time here bro xD any southerner can tell you, its just something that is common.. it's the most exciting and at the same time deadliest thing we ever get to see

  • Comment removed

  • @OceanaxFrederickx also, you're a faggit

  • No sirens?

  • @OceanaxFrederickx mine to brah im on the 19th of april :|

  • that thing was massive!!! :-O

  • @davidmc107 You know what ive noticed these powerful tornadoes don't sound like a freight train. They sound more like a jet engine :P

  • How frequent are tornadoes in Alabama?

  • K, personally, i would have shit myself.. like seeing that hudge bitch tearing up shit up.. my god :(

  • 1:27 face

  • @Relleq lol

  • @OceanaxFrederickx Omg same here xD My b0day is May 21.

  • wow that tornado is huge!

  • @OceanaxFrederickx this one was on my birthday...

  • @BigBaka77 it was on my friend's birthday too.

  • Awesome footage! =D

  • @emaan456 good comment bro ;)

  • ''awesome'' yeah in the meanwhile people died.but i understand, it's very amazing to see and hear this.

  • wheres the hail

  • Wow this is probably one of the best audio's I've ever heard of a tornado.

  • Dat right there is the finger of god

  • 0:44 oh there was a glue?

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy ur a complete idiot, if u actually watched news or read the paper. Ur gay ur 5 years old,a nd this killed 72 people in TUSCALUSSA ALABAMA

  • I never heard one with that ominous howling in the vortex, Great video guys

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy do you by chance live in a whole?

  • fake

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy actually I know several people who's homes were destroyed in this tornado. Several people who's lives were ripped appart, because of this. Forst Lake the neighborhood this twister hit will never be the same, but the community has rallied to rebuild. Do some research, dude this tornado really happened and it affected real people.

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy THIS WAS NOT FAKE!!! i was here and my house was one of the many buildings that were destroyed and my uncle was one of the 15 who were killed!! my life has been ruined by this thing so dont you dare say this was fake!!

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy Just b/c u didnt see it 4 urself does not automatically make it "fake"..anybody with a brain could figure that out!!!

  • Look at the left side of the tornado at 1:20...

  • while it was going through the trees a add popped up and said "do you you have storm damage to your yard"

  • this is ridiculous! absolutely beautiful footage!

  • that is a big tornado

  • It's like it's purposefully waiting to reveal itself from behind those houses due to the rather slow forward speed.

  • SHITTTTTTTTTT'

  • blue = power flash smart one....

  • At 1:40 I swear I saw a creepy smile in it or something.

  • I think at 1:30 you can see a creepy skull face

  • This an awesome video

  • Excellent footage! Definitely the best I've seen of this particular tornado. Way better than the one from University Mall that had so many views! Thanks for sharing!

  • Poor Thomas 2:35

He doesn't even have a basement lmfao....

  • That is an amaZing video man!! And I thought my video of the Springfield Mass twister was crazy!

  • Dude that a big one wow

  • Great footage

  • Does any body know if that black stuff is dirt or smoke rotating around the tornado? Idk it could b smoke everytime the tornado hits a transformer the black ring appears...

  • This is one of the best perspectives. Not too far. Not too close. Not too high. Not too low. No obstructions. Good camera quality. I feature this one on my channel it's beautiful footage.

  • omgg..thats terrifyingg ; especially when you know you can't do anything about something that naturally devastating..

  • to think i almost had an F1 tornado and i was scared...

  • In Soviet,Russia you no watch tornado, tornado watches you!

  • that footage is mind-blowing && yall must of seen or been around a tornado before bc i would have been outta control freaking out..be glad that you werent included in the 200 that died..trully blessed

  • Ive been in one and it WAS fun. Danger = fun, Safety = GAY. And hey, there are way too many people on this planet anyway so let's ALL have a little 'FUN' once in a while, especially when there's a super rad once in a lifetime tornado to check out.

Koodos to the dude who shot this for not being a pussy and enjoying fun!

  • very scary times! if ur ever in another tornado dont ever think its fun. Just report and get to safety thats just what i do

  • Your footage is absolutely AWESOME. The angle you shot it from is an angle I haven't seen yet so thank you for filming and posting this. I always wondered how the tornado moved through town on the path that it took and your video truly showed pieces in the path that I had not seen. So Thanks... and glad you all were okay - and tell Montana guy that his video skills are damn good. :)

  • We dont care about the comments, anyone would say stupid things on that situation. The footage is priceless. Horrific tornado. It should be the most documented tornado so far... lol

  • awesome video

  • Amazing Footage!!! I posted a video too, and have gotten a number of comments about the audio...It's easy in hind-sight to criticize what someone said while an F5 was less than a mile away, while you're video tapping something like this, you don't realize how many people are being hurt, you stand amazed by what you are looking at. I'm sorry for the loss people experienced, but still am amazed by this storm!

  • Anyone noticed how it grows in width.

  • Holy Mother of God is all that comes to mind here, was that kind of day, and still is.

  • Amazing footage of a horrific event. Don't feel bad about the audio. It's human nature that we become strangely excited and fascinated by catastrophic events. As someone said before, it's the adrenaline rush...

  • Thats fucking AWESOME!!!

  • Proving that you can be right beside the rare EF5 tornado and not SCREAM YOUR HEAD OFF like Reed Timmer from "tornado videos, who ruins each and every tornado video he shoots because he wants to be the star of the video, not the tornado.

    Great job!

  • The tornado roar is awesome. Nice capture.

  • this is insane! that buidling to the right is where I live, this thing was so close to us.

  • freaky scary, what an incredible force, but yes immature commentary

  • ok, he's excited, turn off the volume already...great video

  • best footage ever!

  • I think this guy did a great job w/ his video! He shoulda been in a shelter though! That was a huge tornado coming to close especially for being in an apartment! As for the original audio,if you've never experienced the aftermath 1st hand, it's hard to imagine the devastation & when you're filming something so awesome, adrenaline does kick in & it's hard to think about what you are saying. Great job! Super video. Thanks for sharing your experience. You all will forever be n our thoughts & prayers.

  • I couldn't expect anyone watching a huge monster like this and taping it at the same time to be like a professional news reporter covering a live news event...this is LIFE! (or unfortunately death) in the moment caught on camera by Joe Q Citizen!

  • it is awesome!!it is the mother nature and it is awesome how that mom doesn't care for humans,,she just does her thing!!

  • @join2go neither are "awesome". a tornado is 'devastating'. it demolished parts of that city & caused a lot of difficulty for many families. what is "awesome" about that? it's 'unfortunate' that mother nature doesn't care for humans---not "awesome". your vocabulary is very poor or you're too lazy to think about how to correctly describe a situation and its results.

  • Incredible footage. Thanks for sharing.

  • See what I mean about the original audio??? Its not me but I don't want people to think that.

The guy who filmed it apologized for his words at the time but the adrenaline of the situation had him in that mode. He'd never seen a tornado having been raised in Montana so forgive him, he truly feels bad about it but the original audio is better than replacing it with cheesy music.

This is not my video nor is it affiliated with 13akersDozenMedia.
