Bevis Frond. This is what we call a "Geheimtip" in Germany---something not many ppl know. It was a girl friend of mine to introduce me into Bevis Frond's universe, and ever since I'm an addict. Great songwriting, great feelings, all this very British. Had the privilege once to see them live and can only recommend: go see 'em live, they're magic!
@beeblebronx Bevis Frond are touring Europe in January including dates in Germany: JANUARY 2012 13 PATRONAAT, HAARLEM NL 14 TREIBSAND, LUBECK D 15 BASSY, BERLIN D 16 NACHTLEBEN, FRANKFURT D 17 FORUM, BIELEFELD D 18 GLEIS 22, MUNSTER D 19 CAFÉ ZENTRAL, WEINHEIM D 20 GEORGE BEST, CESENA I 21 VINILE 45, BRESCIA I 22 INIT, ROMA I
@beeblebronx I did see them live yesterday evening @ FORUM Bielefeld. It´s completely like you say...MAGIC! Great sound! Very british, polite and very nice guys!Hope to see them next year again!
Im sure Nick would have done much better if he'd been a little less quick to get pissed off by record companies and the suits. There's a fine line between refusing to compromise artistically and just being awkward for the sake of it and he seems to have always straddled that line to his own detriment
@tigerbrandcoffee Well that depends on how much importance one attaches to fame and fortune doesn't it? Making money is not to be entirely disparaged after all, nor is reaching a wider audience (back in the days before Facebook and YouTube made it easier for an artist to do). That's what, in this context, I mean by doing better.
I put Nick up there with my guitar gods, those I like to listen to the most. It's rare to find an artist was such proclivity of songwriting and incredible skills with his instrument of choice. Nick writes the music that you hear in your head, and the music that you wish you heard daily on the radio
Fingers crossed, Nick's done his amazing stuff once again, and we're just waiting for it to be released ... soon! Miss the gigs at The Standard and elsewhere!
Definitely two thumbs up, and if i could move my toes properly,i'd give this man two thumbs more.Gotta love the guy,so passionate and honest it almost hurts.
Beautiful. Thanks for posting. I have had the pleasure of seeing the band about 5 times over the years from larger clubs to an intimate coffeehouse setting. I was blown away every time. New River Head, and this song in particular, root me to a particular time in my life that, while melancholy, is one I will never forget. Nor will I forget the great performances I was lucky to catch. Nick, we miss you and would love to hear more if you have more to share with us.
My comment was lost? Nevermind. Happened to listen to Bevis Frond a few yrs ago accidentally and now am a fan ever since. 16,000 views for this great band and this great song? What a laugh!
I think Bevis Frond are probably among the top ten most under-understimated live bands. Only 15,000 views? That could be more, and go see 'em live, they are such a fantastic live band! :))
Nick has filled great moments in my life. Moments that may have been small without his music. So, thank you very much for your humanity and your talent given to us so many insurmountable pieces like this.
Please Nick, make another record. We really miss you, Bari and Ade. I cherish your records as you really are the greatest act of the past 20 or even 30 years.
One of the gretest singer songwriters i've ever heard, surely the best exponent of psychedelia in the last 20 years, his albums are forever on my turntable
Like walking down memory lane, I used to listen to this dude over and over 12 years ago, what a magician, what a romantic, what brilliant tunes, what an artist!
The opening riff is pure magic. This song and this artist are in a class set apart. I am thankful for having been introduced to such a musician! Thanks for the post.
This is the most beautiful song i've heard in a very very very long time. I actually don't really know if I ever heard a song that moves me like this ones does.
Thanx imensly dude.I particularly like his Hendrixish rockers, tho I might well consider this my overall fav Frond song. Also if I had to pick, t cd that this is off of Innermarshland,is my fav. I have been a fan for decades and am unbelivably pleased to find all these here
Have watched these Bevis tunes about over and over. What a great recording. Converted a few more mates to the Mighty Frond with these gems. Thanks for putting them up!
