Hey, I did some math. 300,000 deer killed. Let's say 2/3 of that number is doe kills, thats 200,000 does killed. So if each of those does would've had twins the next year that's 400,000 more deer into the herd. So if you look at it that way their impact on the next years herd population was around 700,000 deer vs. birth control impact of 400,000 if same amount of does were darted.
A whole 164 does were given birth control? Thats a joke. That's not even a county in my state. Sure birth control might work on that island where deer have a low population in a small area. But do you really expect it to work in a state like mine that covers almost 70,000 square miles that has an average deer harvest of 300,000 deer each year? Well, I guess you probably would dc.

DNR / Wildlife Agencies provide the hunters with deer to kill so the population of deer are deliberate by encouraging fawn birth. Hunting organization spends billions of dollars manipulating wildlife, burning timbers, clear cutting forest, planting food crops, having "fawn recruits" and "fawn crops" killing deers natural predators to ensure abundance of deer year after year.
Forrest fires are a part of nature. Always have been until man started manipulating and controlling the fires. Fire rejuvinates the forrest for ALL animals. You have tunnel vision. If you read an issue or 2 of "The Missouri Conservationist" (magazine provided by Mo Conservation free to any resident) You will find very little talk of deer and deer hunting, this is because they work on so many things, lots of stream cleanup and habitat restoration. But isn't that what we want? Help out the deer, so they can LIVE! And as a hunter, it would DISGUST me to see deer become pretty much pets. You can't just take wild animals and make them not capable of being bred and bore fawns. It's the natural cycle of life. That's just not right...

A doe is going to have a minimum of two fawns every spring, no matter how many deer are killed the year before. And if there were still wolves around they decimate deer herds in the fall and winter when the deer yard up. Creating a much more drastic drop in the deer population than hunting seasons. In fact the seasons are set by wildlife biologists who study the herds and set the seasons etc accordingly

However, in an article that appeared 12-01-91, in the NJ Star-Ledger, Robert McDowell stated that 75% of the stamps are purchased by non-hunters for stamp collections. Once again, its the overwhelming number of non-hunters who are buying land, not hunters.

I can assure you they are not but you want to keep letting the public believe that hunting public is "helping" wildlife with your lame duck stamp which the majority of non-hunting public is buying.

Now there are way too many deer just for the killing purpose and also causing deer vehicle accident. You just keep plugging your ear to truth . I would rather see very little deer then too many which is only makes the wildlife killers happy.

You would rather see deer extinct than see them flourish under people who not only hunt them but truly care about the deer population.
I hunt. But I do not always kill. In fact for every deer I kill I let a hundred walk by..because I enjoy them so much. And when I do kill it is the ultimate closure of the natural cycle.
You are like all the other people who have a cause...and are blinded by it.

What will this cost, How will it be applied on a national basis. How will it be paid for? Who will pick up the cost of the wildlife once hunting is stopped?
And once are no organizations such as the Ducks Unlimited to promote the conservation of wildlife...who will do it?

A tiny percentage of land is bought through the Duck Stamp Program. The money that is raised through the sale of these stamps is used to buy land. This is another program that the hunting community claims that it fully funds. However, in an article that appeared 12-01-91, in the NJ Star-Ledger, Robert McDowell stated that 75% of the stamps are purchased by non-hunters for stamp collections. Once again, its the overwhelming number of non-hunters who are buying land, not hunters.

And 'hunters' idea of being a "friend" to wildlife is to cause pain, suffering and death. To kill off the deer natural predators, clear cut forest, create large deer herd for recreational purpose , cause deer vehicle accidents and pretty much destroy what should be a healthy natural eco-balance. Man in the forest killing animals for "sports" is not natural part of eco!
