  • She ain't no Dame for nut'in!

  • I am almost speechless. I don't believe I have ever witnessed such grace in playing...clearly, have just watched The Great Lady...ANYone can play this simple work with only a few moments prior effort......GEEEEEEZ. What an incredible technique. Her playing has finally allowed me to fully appreciate this magnificent work from one of my most favorite composers. THANK YOU so much to the original poster!!

  • Yes, she is still performing and is even better in person. Check out her website where all of her engagements are listed.

  • Is she performing yet today? Would you rate her style with Diane Bish? I'd love to be a fly on the wall if those two ladies were having a chat over a cup of coffee.

  • @TSB12556

Bish and Weir? That's no comparison...

Bish's performance are quite dull (bad interpretation), but Weir... wake me up any time at night and I'll listen to her splendid playing. :)

  • This woman is incredible!!

  • A wonderful being also - which can be felt in this clip. Absolutely wonderful, loving playing of the organ - just what our world needs; food for the soul and all our senses.

  • Gillian plays with such poise & grace,a inspiration to us all.

  • What an absolute delight

  • LOL "It's called...Water Nymphs!" LOVE her!

  • @DesireeDeFete

That's what "Naïades" translates to in English.

  • brilliant! any chance of watching mrs weir playing messiaen's la nativite?

  • You don't see it often but when, as here, the player and the instrument seem to meld into one the I call that genius.

  • Absolutely exquisite! I got teary eyed as she neared the end with that extremely difficult passage of both hands in playing all those 6ths and 7ths!

  • She is beautiful and plays beautifully.

    Such fluidity.

She makes this very difficult work appear easy.

Let's see more of her playing and less sightseeing.

Dumb BBC video editior: Did you know there are PEDAL notes played with her feet? I'd like to see her legs, too!

  • AMEN! That is one of those Silent but Violent pieces.

A piece that is SLIGHTLY more accessible but reminicent is the Vif from the Second Symphony of Andre Fluery

  • I have heard this organ in real many times but I don't remember it this good! lol

  • Small correction: the work's name is "Naïades".

  • Which translates into "Water Nymphs"
