Well, I guess it's better than not having it, right? I mean if it fits in a pocket or compact, then maybe it might be good as a "vacation steadicam". You seem to own a lot of steadicams? Are you a professional videographer or just a hobby? I have the Hague, but do you think the Modo is still worth it as a shoulder support/panning or tripod?
Yes, it is better than nothing. No, I'm not a professional I just wanted to compare these steadycams and find out which one i like most and that is the Merlin. I sold the other ones.
The Modo is a nice thing, It is realy good as a little tripod and should suppert and it is ok as a steadycam.
Merlin is like $800 or 612 EURO... that's kind of steep. Well, I could use a shoulder support and tripod, but I'm not sure if it's even worth $90 for that. I hate the promo ads that Modosteady releases - it doesn't show anything. Do you know a better shoulder support
The modosteady is a cheap youtube generation steadycam. However, because it does not allow for the weight of the counterbalance to be altered, it's actually just an expensive wobbly platform, with very little image stabilizing effect. Most of the videos with the modosteady show that it simply doesn't work. Notice the constant swaying to the sides and tilting. This is an effect of the modosteady not having a counterweight to cancel out the cameras movement, thus making it pretty much useless.
I just got mine. I think its REALLY awesome...

See video "Modosteady by Manfrotto - How to 9" -- counterweights can be added into the base.

is there a better stabilizer for same price?

Yes, I think the Hague MMC is better, but you can use it only as a Steadycam and it doesn't fold up that small.
But the result with the MMC is smoother. Best result is with the Merlin.
