  • AWESOME Vid Ive just changed the fan in my V8 to an Akasa quiet blue fan and it looks great, seeing your vid I will attempt to do the mesh mod too as it really finishes it off.thanks Lazyman keep the VIDS comming.

  • @666klepto666 Just buy it from NCIX if you are in Canadia land :3

  • 2 people failed in making this...

  • great. very god thank you.

  • good hammering skills man :D :D :D

  • 1:15 turbo dremmel!

  • speed hammering kicks ass

  • excellent video! really well explained. i could watch theses pc modding tutorials forever i find them really interesting. 10/10

  • @neo36uk Thanks bro, glad you enjoy these videos.

  • why would you waste your time and do what you just did LOL duuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • @Snowdre Why would you consider it a waste of time????? That series of video's has probably has gotten me more work than any of my other video's combined......I showed that regardless of the mod, I was willing to give it a 110% and wasn't going to give up until I reached my goal. If I am willing to spend so much time on such a insignificant mod, just imagine what I will do when it is important. My work speaks for itself, take a look at any one of my other vids and you will see for yourself.

  • with out cutting the lil usb bed for mp3 and so on

  • and thank fo the site i saw one of them and it ships to canada so i might as well order it for there . and yes it would be for me for the haf 922 and for the lighting i want to hide it but make it glow good on the mother board liek you did for the wired and complex sliverstone case . and for the hdd bay i would make a fan mod and the bottom or top and for sure on on the side left of the bay and for the top where the power bottom is to install a fann up there but with air vent on the panel

  • @666klepto666 How much would the shipping be from Canada to San Francisco area?

  • @WestCoastMods i dont no y and the shiping for one of the sites says i got a invalid zip code

  • what kind of mesh is this called cause im doing a simaler project

  • @666klepto666 The mesh was called modder mesh from MNPCTECH...but now I just buy it from McMaster Carr...just look for mesh...they have a lot more options.

  • @WestCoastMods shell they have it in a home depot or rona depot or some sort of renovation store cause im from canada montreal

  • @666klepto666 Not sure what you're talking about.

  • @WestCoastMods well you no the stores you buy tools or wood , side door metal metrieals and so on for home renovation should they have them there. and how much did your sheet of mesh cost

  • @666klepto666 Yeah, home depot doesn't carry mesh....the only carry expanded metal which is to large and heavy for a PC mod...I even tried arts and craft stores...no luck there either...It's really not that expensive at MNPCTECH or McMaster Carr. Up in Canada it may be different, but trust me I looked almost everywhere locally...without any luck. Let me know if you find any up in your area...just curious.

  • @WestCoastMods i sure willl cause that one of the best idea for the v8 just to let you no that if you wish in modding a coolermaster haf 922 let me no cause i bout one not to long ago and i wish in modding it

  • @666klepto666 Sure bro...would this be for you? PM me if you need a mod done to the 922......at the moment I am booked till June...but if it is a simple mod I can probably squeeze it in.

  • SPEED HAMMERING! lol and btw do you shoot with a Cannon HG10?

  • @dudedxrox No I'm using the Canon HF S100

  • I guess the cannon's have the same remotes.....mine stopped working after a week though @WestCoastMods

  • @dudedxrox I use mine all the time, never had a problem. Did you get the remote replaced?

  • @WestCoastMods Well it broke after a week of use. My dad had bought the camera years ago and he left the remote sitting in a drawer for years still inside it's original packaging. When the camera was given to me i took the remote out and got batteries for it. One week it worked but then it stopped so i bought new battteries thinking that was the problem, but it never worked again. I tried contacting Cannon with no reply so I can try again.

  • I notice your tri channel order for your ram is 24,6 isn't it suppose to be 1,3,5?

or its because the v8 is blocking access to the ram slot 1?

  • @tommy714pham No, the V8 is not blocking the1st slot. On the P6T mobo they recommend populating the 2,4,6 slots first for better performance. I think that is pretty common for Asus boards.

  • Nice Work i have a NorthQ 3340WLA Extreme cpu cooler and i coverd it with some (metal) and it dosent sound that mutch at it did before and it cools batter minimum temp is 19.C. and VERY NICE VIDEO. btw my eng isint good im from Denmark ^^

  • @kaffez4 Thanks bro

  • man your awsome. this mod (the whole cpu cooler mod) is almost exactly what I'm looking for. I was looking at getting the same cpu cooler and doing the mesh casing too, but I was probably just going to do the LED fan instead of the strip LEDs. I was wondering what kind of paint did you use? and did you use a spray can or an air brush? also on a side note; how did you remove the rivets from the mobo tray on your black widow build?

  • @2DKnight Sorry forgot to specify what part, how did you paint the mesh is what I wanted to ask. :P

  • @2DKnight I used Automotive paint...DupliColor.....you can find it at most automotive stores. And as far as rivets on the mobo tray, there are none. This case has a removable mobo tray. But to remove any rivet, just use a 1/8" drill bit to drill it out.

    Hope this helps

    LazyMan

  • @WestCoastMods thx man, I wasn't sure if an aerosol

can would leave streaks or anything, so thx. and I ask

about the mobo tray 'cause I want to paint mine black as

it comes in the standard silver :(

thanks again for the tips. I like the mod btw :)

I totally dig the black and red thing. I'm modding a

aerocool vx-e to have all red fans and a 250mm fan on the

    side.

  • @2DKnight Painting with a rattle can is somewhat more difficult, just take you time and you should be fine.

  • WOW .... that all i can say ..... you vids are really good .... never mod a pc, but i was looking around, to see what is good parts to build a really nice pc .... and some the stuff i was looking up your vids pop up ....

the work you do is nice and clean .... really clean ... nice work man and i know i will do some mods on my pc :D

thanks .... oh ya i'm from Canada Ontario EH !! LOL... GOOD WORK ....

  • @JABOO57 Thanks my Canadian brother! Really appreciate your kind words.

  • flash

  • dude...how much would you charge to make me one of those fan mesh housing? i got same cooler..contact me here in youtube...hope to hear from you man.

  • @j4nm1k3 I charge $25 plus shipping...I will provide the material. If you are interested PM me.

    LazyMan

  • @WestCoastMods i bend metal by heating it first

  • @LLOYD19851012 This metal is so thin that heating it is not required, also with it being thin the heat changes the molecule makeup and after the metal cools it becomes more brittle. The best tool to bend metal this this is a hand brake.

  • you have used speed hack :p

  • Nice camera, very high quality! Which company and which model is it??!??!

  • @airsoftguy85rocks The camera I use is a Canon HF S100...I have a overview vid on this camera. Excellent camera, if you're in the market for a cam, this is a excellent choice.

  • Man that work out perfectly, Then once painted, look's pretty bad ass to me, good Idea to put the mesh on, good work.

  • @BertJundt Yeah the mesh does a add a quality look to it.

    Thanks

    LazyMan :-)

  • holy shit amazing craftmanship man!

  • @NineLivesProductions Thanks bro, but it was a bad day for me, couldn't get anything right. lol

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • @WestCoastMods No, but it takes a lot of patience... It honestly looks like coolermaster did it hahaha. You could make a lot of money doing what you do.

  • Good stuff as always.

  • @lcd511 Thanks bro!

  • You made that thing look even better

  • @eveil Thanks bro!

  • Why didn't CM add this? man can you make me one?

  • @harperadam I keep telling myself to send some pictures or a vid to CM, but it just seems like I always keep forgetting. lol

Yes I can make you one, as I have done several for other clients. PM me if your interested and we can talk.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • This is loads of work for no performance gain. I mean it's a very nice job.. not bad if you've got the time to do it. I'd just prefer take the cooler apart for performance like to add a better fan or something.

  • @acer0169 I guess it's all in how much effort ones is willing to put into their build to make it a 1off. Trust me, I don't have the time as I work some long hours. If ppl didn't do anything to their cases unless it was to improve performance then they would all look pretty drab. Custom paint, custom lighting, sleeving, ect.

This is what modding is all about

    LazyMan :-)

  • wow that looks like it just came out of the box, magnifico

  • Thanks bro

  • loved the speed hammering

  • Speed hammering is the only way to go. lol

  • @hazercopejeks that's what she said ;)

  • Oh shit, that turned out amazing XD

  • Thanks Bro!

  • Hey your using a NEC 20wmgx2 monitor!! sweet, I have the same one, man it's the best image I have ever seen. Love IPS monitors. So why did you put a screen on the fan, how does it help?

  • I agree the NEC was one of the best monitors, to bad they don't make a 24" with the same specs. They do have a 24", but it just isn't the same.

As far as the mesh shroud, it servers no real purpose other than to dress up the fan housing. If you watch the rest of the series you will see how it not only makes the fan look more professional, but it hides the LED's that I installed.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • where can i get the steel mesh...?

  • Try MNPCTECH, Performance PC's or where i get it from McMaster Carr.

    Hope this helps

    LazyMan :-)

  • awesome! looks pretty nice! good job! speedhammering!

  • Thanks bro!

  • what is the name of the case in this video?

  • Thermaltake Armor Plus, however it's been slightly modded.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Ahahah the surprise speed hammering got me. Funny stuff.

  • Thanks bro

  • Was nice to see how to work with mesh without expensive tools, great stuff and a great result.

  • Yeah, I thought I would show how anyone could achieve the same thing without metal benders or something like that. Actually you could use a piece of hard wood instead of the steel block that I used.

    Cheers

    LazyMan ;-)

  • Thanks for sharing this. You do very good work!

  • Thanks You!

  • should look into getting a press , i had one at school and i ( stupidly ) put my finger in it and pressed -.-

  • ooch! that must of hurt!

  • Yep

  • wow NICE IDEA!!!

  • Thanks

  • Not gonna lie, I am jealous of your tools and workbench D=

  • wow, I have a terrible work area, moved into this house not to long ago, and still haven't set up my garage. but thanks anyway.

    LazyMan :-)

  • Thanks!

  • Would it be worth it to put a Noctua fan in it? And would it fit?

  • Yeah, a Noctua Fan would have fit. The CM R4 fans are not to bad either. Original I was looking for a LED fan, that's why I chose the R4. But now after adding my own LED's a Noctua Fan would have been a great choice. I will keep that in mind for the next one.

    Thanks

    LazyMan :-)

  • very nice

  • Thanks Bro!

  • i just LOVE how you mix the "garage shop" personality with the "computer geek" persona. its just brilliant

  • Thanks Bro!

  • Yah who would have thought that you can uses a Dremel or a mallet in computer modding?

  • That Look nice man! Great work

  • Thanks bro!

  • I used artic silver 5

  • I'm surprised, let me run some test when it's all put together and we'll see what temps I'm getting.

maybe your processor or V8 cooler or both, needs to be lapped.

  • hmm..well i been using "realtemp" to monitor my temps, but on the x58 mobo, theres a lil LCD screen on the mobo itself that i think displays the most accurate temp, im guessing its the temp from the BIOS, and it shows 30c...so im thinking realtemp is extremely inaccurate for me, cause realtemp showing me 46c, what do you think?

  • That's tough, I would also believe that the LCD display on you mobo is most accurate, not sure why RealTemp is so high, normally you may see a 3-5 degree difference between RealTemp and what you Bios shows, but not 16 degree's.

The only way to make sure is to use a temp gun, but not everyone has one. can't think of any other free program at the moment.

  • yeah, i just launched speedfan program and it actually reads the exact temps as my lcd mobo does, so im going to start using speedfan from now on :D

  • Sounds good

  • Man when making pc mods it's all about having an eye for detail and you really have that eye man. This is such a cool mod that I never would have thought of. It just adds a little something extra to the overall build and really gives it a "labor of love" look. Very nice man. 5/5.

  • Thanks Bro, many sleepless nights. LOL

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • 5 Star ! Subscribed :]

  • ROFL @ Speed Hammer... hahaha

Nice work u doing there.. waiting for updates.. keep up the good work mate!

  • Thank You, updates coming today or tomorrow.

  • Man you got mad skills, looks so clean!! Love it dude keep up the great mod! Wish my v8 looked like that O_O!

  • Thanks bro, After I finish with the LED lighting, I will make the V8 Fan Mod for anyone who's interested.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • cant wait to see the update with the LED! you can make some money off this mod :P

  • Thanks

  • hey bro, if u dont mind me asking, what idle temps do u get with your v8 on the i7? im running the i7 920 in a HAF 932 case with the v8 also and my idle is 45c which to me, i thought was pretty high, and its a D0 stepping also. non OC.

  • I really haven't ran any formal test yet, but when I did a bench test and first post, I was getting, if I remember correctly 34C, but that's out side the case.

45C dose seem high, what thermal paste did you use?

    LazyMan

  • Got the Cooler master V8, and i gotta say that looks great. wish i had to skill to do it myself.

  • It just takes time and patience. If you are interested I could make you one, Pm me.

I was thinking about selling these down the road, with or without LEDs. Wait till you see it with LED's, it should look Awesome!

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Part 3 is coming very soon, doing some test runs on how the LED's will look. Tomorrow or Weds I hope!

    Thanks for your kind words

    LazyMan :-)

  • this is sexual

  • LOL!

    Thanks Bro!

    LazyMan :-)

  • wow i would have never though of that awesome mod. nicely done

  • Thanks Bro!

  • wow it's the little things that make it come together! Fans ARE pretty ugly ... I have 2 120's on my radiator mounted horizontally at the inside of my HAF Coolermaster, so I think I may use this mod for them (any ideas about installing custom leds with perhaps PWM RGB controller?).

Can you use wood to make the bends?

  • Thanks for the comment. You can definitely use wood, as long as it's a hard wood.

Don't know a whole lot about PWM RGB controllers, but I don't see why not. I'm trying to learn more, as I would like to control the blinking LED's.

    Cheer

    LazyMan :-)

  • wll blinking is like what the hdd status light looks like fast paced

    but pulsating

as in slow harmonic and calm

    like on and of slowly

i suck at explaining but i think you know what i mean

  • Yeah, got what you mean and you explained that well. Not sure how I can control the blinking. Any suggestions

    Thanks

    LazyMan :-)

  • sry i got nothing you can google it and probably find it

    but i have no idea

  • Thanks bro.I'm presently experimenting with several LED's and strip lights to see what will work the best for the top and sides, also I have tried a couple different blinking LED's for the front.

I will look up how to pulsate the blinking LED

    Thanks again

    LazyMan :-)

  • I wanted to do a pulsating cpu heatsinkfan

kinda like the heart of the computer

were cheesey people but i think its pretty cool

I just dont have the tools time and Patience as you do

  • yeah, that's exactly my thought. Giving the Black Widow a heart beat, may be corny, but who cares.

    LazyMan :-)

  • oh dude btw

I am looking at giving the scout some red accents but I dont know what kind of red i should use

i dont wanting bright maybe a darker red

what was the name of the red you used

because I'll probably start with the pci slots

and thinking of doing the front mesh

and adding a dark red half life 2 applique to the window

I might even go as far as changing the acrylic to uv red if i can find someone to cut it for me

  • I used DupliColor Anodized Red, you will need to spray a DupliColor Ground Coat first. It's a little expensive though.

I would just go to the Automotive store or Hardware store and buy a dark red in either Rust-o-leum or Krylon

  • haha if its a little expensive for you its gunna be very expensive for me.

but anodized red looks so good

i'll see how much it is if it a good enough price i'll go for it

and i need what primer, base, clear right? or can i cut something out?

  • Yeah, to do it right you need a primer, ground coat,, color, clear coat, and wet sand sandpaper. That's if you go with a anodized color. But if you're just doing the PCI covers and some mesh the anodized affect will not be very visible.

If you just go with a standard paint (any color) then you will not need the ground coat.

DupliColor is about $5.99 to $8.99 per can,(depending on whether it's primer, ground coat, color, ect.) whereas Rust-o-leum and Krylon are about half that.

    LazyMan :-)

  • ok just for pc i slots

cant i just get a can of red krylon and spray it with out the shinnanigans awith out the primer and stuff do i really need it

    its not money wise

its just i dont like doing labor im lazy lol

  • Your funny! Absolutely! I would go to a hardware store and buy a $3.00/4.00 can of paint and be done with it.

Very important advice, spray on several light coats of paint as apposed to a heavy one.Especially if you paint mesh steel, it will clog the holes if you put the paint on to heavy. If the holes get clogged, use a paper clip to clean them out.

    Good luck my friend

    LazyMan

  • ah thanks for the tip

when i back in the states

and get my shit together for school and what not

    Ill be working on it

i jsut whope i dont regret painting the pci

i love the all black case

but i think some accents would make it nicer

  • wow that looks really nice and clean

5 stars for speed hammering haha

how about pulsating instead of blinking imo that would be more "harmonic"

  • Thanks Bro! Yeah working on the LED's now. What is the difference between pulsating and blinking.

I may install 2 blinking LED's in each opening, blinking at different times. Maybe that will give it a pulsating effect. Still experimenting.

    Cheers

    LazyMan ;-)

  • I want that mesh in red

    to use as fan grills

  • Very easy to make, espesially for fan grills, no bending required.

    LazyMan :-)

  • 5 out of 5

looks mean and cant wait 2 see the finnished product with the leds

  • experimenting with different LED's and LED light strips, as soon as i am satisfied with the way the LED's glow I will post part 3.

    Thanks for your comment

    LazyMan ;-)

  • man you are so creative...i would like to work like that

  • Thanks for your kind words. I try to show as much as I can, so ppl can do it themselves.

  • WOW. Very clean mod. Impressive. I'm sure the LEDs are going to pop now. 5*

  • Thanks bro!

  • hi again mate lol love the speed hammering by the way so funny i see another good mod you have done cant wait to get mine done ordered my case today so will be here this week gotta get some paints black and candy blue gonna look cool i think anyways thought ide pop bye and say good work on this mod bye for now...dan...

  • Good job! Speed hammering was funny =)

  • Thanks bro, I though everyone would get a kick from that.
