I think it's really funny how some people freak out when artists change their sound, you always hear "Man their old albums were so much better" and when artists doesn't stray from their comfort zones, so to speak, people STILL complain lmao. But whatever, I haven't really been listening for a couple of years now. I just stumbled on this video.
I was impressed by D+Sect at first, but the more I listened the album, it was a bit disappointing. Like many have said, it's not fresh and this is kind of mediocre for not producing a CD in 3-4 years. However, to come to Mana's defense: At least he's not ripping off other VK bands and keeping the sound most of the fans fell in love with in the first place. More over, I feel like there's no way to satisfy any of you based on the comments... Even if he DID produce D+Sect in a different way.
I love this song, The Sect and Dies Irae are my favorite songs of the album, mostly because I love Seth's voice and his combined with this music = beautiful. But lets be honest, if it wasn't because I love way too much this kind of sound and the whole concept he puts on all his works and himself, I would have dropped this already, because indeed there's nothing new here. At least I wasn't blown away with this album like I was with the others.

@GenyaArikado I like their voices in different ways... for me klaha is also operatic and his voice blends well with baroque ambiance... while gackt's voice is so versatile, it works in so many musical ways classical, rock or electro... definitely one of my fave japanese male musicians...

It's just that Mana is making music which is difficult for people to apprehend and enjoy. Pop is always a popular genre among most people. Wow, nothing new for a couple of years, and THIS is what he releases? He's just rehashing the same amateurish, poorly written metal backed up by cheap sounding keyboards. I don't think there is one element of this song that cannot be found in at least one of his old songs. I used to be a big fan, and I still enjoy listening to Nocturnal Opera every once in a while, but it's all been going steadily downwards from there in my opinion. I wonder for how long he will keep writing the same songs.

It's alright if he releases the same songs, but it would be better if he came up with new too ! ^^ I guess it's difficult. He's good at composing classical style music, but when it comes to metal, he definitely needs to improve. When he was with Mizer, all the songs had a variety, something which his MDM work lacks. it all sounds the same. very few tracks stand out.
Though to be fair, D+Sect is certainly better than some of those previous bland releases.
@honeyvanitysubs Oh, I used to be a big fan. I own everything Mana ever released, and I've seen him live more than 20 times, both with Malice Mizer and Moi dix Mois. I'm just astounded by how much the quality of his writing and subsequent production of music have declined in recent years. I still love a lot of the older stuff though.

It's been a while since Dixanadu was released, and "we're" (speaking for all of the fans) looking forward very much to this. This taste of the album sounds very promising (and I've already had the Sect and Dead Scape live versions on repeat countless times.) I can without doubt say that this album will be played most of my time awake as soon as I get it!

Of course I wasn't worried of the fact that it would impress me and that it would be extremely nice, but since the only version of The Sect I've heard before was the VRock Festival Internet Broadcasting version (in which the sound was horrible) and it obviously destroyed the original finished beautiful version.
I am looking forward with excitement for this album and defenatly, it sounds like it was worth almost 4 years of wait... MDM <3

Forgot to mention it, but I honestly just dont like Seth's voice too much. In MY opinion, I preferred Juka as the MDM vocalist.
But Juka left MDM on his own, so not much that can be said or done there.

It's been a while since Dixanadu was released, and "we're" (speaking for all of the fans) looking forward very much to this. This taste of the album sounds very promising (and I've already had the Sect and Dead Scape live versions on repeat countless times.) I can without doubt say that this album will be played most of my time awake as soon as I get it!

I love watching as the view number rises. Mana is an amazing, inspiring artist. It always seems like everything Mana does is simply beautiful, elegant, mysterious, and perfect. No matter how many times I listen to each song by Moi dix Mois, the music never dulls or stops moving my heart and soul. I am extremely satisfied to hear this.
Of course I wasn't worried of the fact that it would impress me and that it would be extremely nice, but since the only version of The Sect I've heard before was the VRock Festival Internet Broadcasting version (in which the sound was horrible) and it obviously destroyed the original finished beautiful version.
I am looking forward with excitement for this album and defenatly, it sounds like it was worth almost 4 years of wait... MDM <3
