In FACT, the jet unit in these boats was invented by CWF Hamilton, at Irishman Creek Station , in the South Island of New Zealand . The workshop still exists . Hamilton Marine make jet units from the small ( what you see here ) to LARGE , as in passenger transport ferries , and inshore naval patrol vessels. There is now US , and other foreign design and manufacture. But Kiwi's still RULE ( mate ) !!!

It is all in specialized hull designs, that grip sideways, instead of slide. They turn like you are on a steel rail buried below the waterline!!!

The navigator (Passenger) is giver a course diagram the night before the race to memorize. One wrong turn means a DNF, of a crash sometimes..

Generally, these tracks are 2-3 feet or 1 meter deep, although they can ru in less. These are jet pump driven. Scott Jett's custom designed for this sport.
