If in life you do get the same grade for 10 questions but you write 100 instead it would be very interesting to see who answered more than 10.Those that understand the reason behind this experimental instrument would I bet answer more than they had to because they enjoy a challenge and look to do more than just the minimum, in exams and in life. I get what you're saying, but then the sitar is used to make some pretty 'out there' stuff (when played properly, obviously!). Bass guitars are somewhat abused in muzak and porn soundtracks, is all I was getting at. It's tough to find the good stuff.

there are actually a few 10-string "basses" out there. i personally don't see any need for more than 4 strings. i have seen a couple "8 strings" out there, however, that each have a one-octave-lower string under the E,A,D,G and are played like a 4-string and sound awesome. once again, knock yourself out, play what you want..it's just my opinion.

I think people who say 4 is all you need are just a bunch of ignorant elitists..... To scared to get out of their comfort zone....unable to musically expand themselves.

been playing a 5 string for less then a year now, and LOVE IT. Not expecting to revert back to a 4 string anytime soon. Might even try a 6 string in a year or 2, that would really be interesting for solos and melodies.

My opinion is 7 strings is the max amount you could go for bass. But if this guy can enjoy 10, good for him.
