Duvall is fucking awesome. I didn't care much to see Alice in Chains when I first got into them because Staley wasn't with them and he seemed to be such an icon of the band. He was and is. However, Duvall really delivers the songs and when I saw them with Metallica in 06 and 09 I was well impressed.

Hell Yeah I saw DuVall and the rest of the Chains at Glasgow last Thursday.

They sound really really good live. Some of the videos for these concerts maybe you dont get the real sound of Wills voice. This video for We Die Young is decent enough. Hes a good singer and he didnt try to copy Layne he just did his own thing

Duvall is definitely an acceptable replacement. Anyone who thinks differently needs to realize that life goes on. Layne was great and had a very unique voice. Yes. But remember that he was taken from us strictly from his own doing, which in my mind makes him a bit selfish. AinC couldn't tour or do any shows because of Layne's habit. Only time I had a chance to see them it got cancelled because of Layne needing rehab. I, for one, am happy they're continuing. Bitch all you want.

Eh, he's a bit too nasaly, but, again, this was taken almost 3 years ago. I'll give him a chance on Black Gives Way to Blue (which is a great name for an album IMO). Jerry sounds older, but still sounds good. And even though the harmonies between Duvall and Cantrell aren't as magical as when with Layne, they're actually alright together. This guy is alright, I'll let him prove himself with the new AIC :D

Admittedly, Duvall sucked horribly three years ago. But now, I hear the new AIC stuff, and hear him sing three years later, and his vocal style has completely changed for the better. Duvall doesn't complete the band as well, but he gets close; he did a brilliant rendition of Would in Amsterdam in '09. He's no Layne, not nearly as good, but he does well enough on his own....

I respect your opinion though....yours is valid since you've seen them, with Layne, more times than I have with Duvall =D
