Amen to that. I can't tell you how many Republicans I knew that were attracted to Edwards populism and said they would gladly vote for him in the general election. Well, leave it to the Democrats to shoot themselves in the foot yet again and not get behind the most electable candidate- who just happened to also be the most progressive (next to Kucinich). We now will have a battle on our hands- I think Obama at least has a chance. I'm certain Clinton has no chance of winning a general election.

Donna Brazile ran Al Gore's campaign and switched his campaign from Washington to Nashville her staff invaded the office in Nashville and alienated the hard workers that was already there, breaking the spirit and the back of the central core of their whole campaign. Just one example of Miss Brazile's incompetence, and now she's a political "expert" on cable.

The Democratic party seems to reward incompetence and ignore it's true leaders.

Well I think the gold standard works, theres a cool video I can share with you that explains it + history & all & why the founders perfered it. I also think being apart of the UN wont help our country. For example we went into Iraq for UN resolutions and bad policies. Then they bail out on us and we get screwed over and everyone hates us. Its does harm to us. Plus our founders adviced us of not having entangling alliances.

And on the subject of gold it doesnt have to be gold literaly (gold and silver), I just think that the founders were for substance, real value on the money. If I were to trade you an item for another item, those items have equal value, now the money represents those items. And gold of course was traded and valued so instead of carrying heavy gold, lets give coins or papers that represent that gold. And people traded with that value. Its a bit hard for me to explain im not a pro about it.

The gold standard works fine, in a fairly closed/simple economy. One of the reasons that we went off the gold standard was so we can have better control over the value of our money. There are numerous problems with the gold standard. To start, a world economy is just too complex with too much changing to keep things to a simple standard. The rest of the world having control over our stuff because of investments isn't the system's fault, it's our fault for letting them finance trillions of

dollars of spending. Also, what if another country finds a large supply of gold? suddenly they are rich, and have influence over our supply of gold. On top of that, the gold standard is terribly inefficient. We pay people pennies somewhere in africa to dig it out of a hole in the ground, then we melt it down, put it back in a hole, then pay people to stand around and guard it. Also, on a gold standard, you can end up inflating the cost of gold, thus hurting industries like the tech industry who

the tech industry who use it for their manufacturing. Also, i haven't researched it, but inflation from the gold standard also contributed to the pressures before the great depression.

tl;dr A gold standard is too simple of an approach for such a complex world economy.

It could be but I think he doesnt want the economy to imediately be gold standard, he wants competition which would definately prove if its worth it or not and it can work well in local communities. So one city can thrive well and use both currencies. Canada uses both US and thier own when I visited so I have no doubt that it could work. Not to mention I think Paul perfers the gov to make the money, not just a banking institute.

I don't really understand to well about inflation or how other countries finding gold could influence our economy. But I think that even if gold in the market is inflated the value of the paper that represents the gold would still be proportionate to it right? Also isnt that what they did with fort knox? Guard the gold. People used to carry it in thier own homes before.
