  • HMM if the corporates didnt get hold of em we wouldnt have on top of the world. but nice to hear

  • Richard this is why I'm your biggest fan! The Carpenters story is the most incredible story in American music, hard work pays off, yea if you knew then what you know now, too much touring & Karen's eating disorder, along with your own problems. As always I'm so proud that you went on & most of all have a wonderful family. You & I know that Karen is smiling down on you!

  • @UltimateKarenTribute you are mentally ill.

  • ..wOw!!!i love iced tea!!!

..but..i love karen not because of her iced tea.,

..i love her because of who she is..:)

    ..love yah!!always!!karen!!

  • ICED TEA. HMMM. TUBBY THE TUBA?

  • check out the sonic youth song "tunic" from the "Goo" album. An oddly touching ode to Karen, told first person.

Another green salad/Another iced tea/There's a tunic in the closet/Waiting just for me

  • F'ing incredible!!! Hard to believe its just the trio. I wish the recorded more of the jazz stuff.

She had only been playing for two years at the time of recording???!!! Makes me want to burn my drums and take up golf.

    Thanks for posting.

  • You're Welcome =)

  • wow amazing considering this was recorded in 66 and she started playing in 64!!!

  • I think this is when they had a tuba player in the group in the early years, Karen on drums and Richard on pianos, right? Nice jazzy sounds!

  • yep!

  • @kboyzrock The tuba player was Wesley Jacobs. He also played bass with the Carpenters and later went on to play a long career with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra and retired a couple of years ago.

  • Great video... I love this strange song. Pure jazz :-)

  • thanks!

  • fantastic! she rocks! he rocks!

  • Thank you! Their fav drink was iced tea isn't?

  • Recollection of reading once brings that the drink fav of karen was iced tea and...of nothing :)

  • Flor, this is yet another song you've posted which I'd been unable to find before. Thank you! The early photos you've included are quite appropriate.

  • Thankss!! :)

  • Richard should receive greater recognition for his piano-playing. It's very interesting how Karen at times in this song essentially duplicates on percussion what's played on piano or bass.

  • This way it is :)

  • Awesome photos of early Carpenters with one of their earliest tunes. Man, can Richard ever play piano. Even at such a young age. Sounds like he'd been playing for a lifetime. Is this what they played at the Hollywood Bowl contest?
