Wow! Where at the end of August, and it seems that David Boaz got it right. I guess it's becasue he's not liberal/Democrate or Republican that put political idealogies or party first. Liberterians(philosophy)=is what our country was founded on. It's what made our country great.
Go Cato Institute, Mises Institute, and Liberterians!
Boaz should make a bet with Hickey. If Obama's move toward fascism, government control of private industry, and massive government debt DO NOT lead this country into a hyperinflationary depression then Boaz will come back an apologize, admitting he was wrong.
If Obama's conduct leads to fascism and hyperinflationary depression, with the dollar collapsing and the ruination of the U.S. Hickey will bring the rope and we will hand his sorry statist apologist ass from the nearest tree.
David Boaz is straightforward, clear, and polite. Nice to see in contrast to all the typical ranting. . . Roger Hicke: He has to start spending like Roosevelt? Good, you've got a reference point. Now go look at how FDR's (and Hoover's for that matter) government spending worked for the country during The Depression. Geesh.
Thank you, I love how polite he is. He exudes passion without anger -- a rare quality. I wonder if he'd ever take up mainstream politics? He's just so damn likable, even if you disagree with his policies. That's a vote-getter.
David Boaz is probably one of the clearest advocates for libertarianism since Milton Friedman. He's very good at taking complicated ideas and breaking them down for people to understand. He made me a libertarian.
oh dear...Does this Roger Hicke not realize that Keynesian economics was discredited and subsequently abandoned by most professional economists 30 years ago?
Exactly. The government needs to do what a person should during a recession, especially if you're in debt: cut back on unnecessary expenses (say tens of thousands of troops protecting Germany's national security; propping up incompetent companies) and pay down your debt.
everything Boaz said was spot on.

I just played the demo for Democracy 2 and it's a LOT easier to get re-elected if you're a socialist.

Mandate. Obama ran on home. He did not earn a mandate based on how he ran.

Roosevelt made the depression last longer due to his meddling. This time we are not likely ever to recover from this governmental intrusion.

Boaz is one of my heros!
"The Libertarian Reader," that he edited, is a wonderful compilation of key libertarian essays.
Free minds and free markets!

forget whether Mr. Hicke realizes that Keynesian economics have been discredited. What is more important is whether our President realizes this??
