Adam Lambert is not a great singer, Brian McKnight is decent yes and when he sang with Christina she was still young and her voice wasn't as damaged as to not able to sing in tune as it is now, though she never had good musicianship.

Yes, 4 octaves is great, but one doesn't really have 4 octaves if one has a hole in the voice where it becomes strained and strained and harsh and coarse as it happens to Christina as she tries to belt up the scale past Bb4. Someone who truly has such range can keep going higher and lower with ease, without drops in volume in the low register or without becoming strained and choked in the upper register.
