  • I'm American and I think it's funny. Canada sucks though, haha.

  • I wish people I talked to understood this better. It makes me kind of sad, and angry that Canadians don't know they should be Americans too. Stupid USAires...

  • the US virgin islands are in the Caribbean. not the Pacific.

  • Hmmm from weird al to arrogant worms huh

  • go back to mexico faggot

  • Lyrics: "Where were we when the USA took away the name American"?

Answer: Canada wasn't even a country yet! It was still owned by the French & British.

  • My fellow Earthicans...

  • new fave song. and im from the us :PP

  • I am not american so for me there is no point in this video!

  • I'm from the U.S. and i support this video.

  • United States of America, y'know. Not much else to call us. XD

  • Stupid Americans think we want to be called that lol!

  • The US Virgin Islands aren't in the Pacific, they're in the Caribbean. Don't pretend to be knowledgeable about geography when you aren't.

  • @NotTheLaw When did they say the Virgin Islands were in the Pacific? They said they were in "the ocean". Last time I checked, the Virgin Islands indeed are in an ocean. And if you want to get pedantic, all the oceans are connected anyway.

  • @alynnidalar The video shows them to be in the Pacific. This is not accurate.

  • I dunno, unitedstatesians has a ring to it.

  • How I usually respond to this is like this: if Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde and William Thackeray all referred to the inhabitants of the United States as "Americans" in their writings (and they did), and it was clear to readers in the U.K. to whom the word was being applied, then this issue has been settled since at least the 19th century.

Yes, Canadians, you do live in the the Americas. No, Canadians, you are not "Americans" in the common meaning of the word.

    Get over it.

  • I sympathize..

  • This is my favorite song, and I'm Hawaiian.

  • Fuckin' A!

  • canada all day

  • Do people in European countries ever really refer to themselves as "European"? Wouldn't you prefer to identify by the country you're from, not the continent? I get what's funny about the song though. The US basically did steal the name of both continents.

  • @LegatoBluesummers810:

that depends on who you ask. °w°" Some countries are more patriotic than others... in Germany the patriotism is pretty weak...but we have strong local patriotism in some regions.

There's also the thing that often when people talk about the "Europeans" they mean "EU citizens" , which is wrong. the English, the Swedish and the Swiss are European for example, but these countries aren't part of the political entity "European Union". pro-Europe doesn't necessarily mean pro-EU.

  • @LegatoBluesummers810:

But while not everyone is happy with everything that happens politcally in the EU, Europe has actually a very positive connotation...at least in my region. (ask wikipedia about the Greater Region. ;))

We never had peace for such a long time in this area as in the last 66 years. and that's because the countries try to work together to find the best way for the European countries not just their own...at least that the theory. ._. "una in diversitate" that Europe for me. :)

  • This is like my favorite song ever, and I'm an Americ..... er... UNITED STATESIAN!!

  • Actually, my Canadian boyfriend refers to people in the United States as American. He is from Toronto and says no one there is offended by the term and they call themselves Canadians.

  • After going to Canada the first time, I started calling it "The States". Maybe, USAdians? Prounounced You-say-dians.

  • Hahaha, you can tell exactly which comments are posted by the uptight americans. Hahaha. It's so sad how little they know about us. but that's ok. i need to unplug my computer from my igloo and get the dog team ready. There was another 3 feet of snowfall last night and I still need to get that polarbear I've been tracking for the last week. proud and true Canadian, eh?

  • When an American speaks to a Brazilian who is "American," he understands. But it soon emerges that same question: is a generic designation. In Portuguese we use the word * E * S * T * A * D * U * N * I * D * E * N * S * E * to a U.S. citizen. For those of Canadian nationality say *C * A * N * A * D * E * N * S * E* .

  • American is short for United states of America; North and South America's abbreviation "America" is a synonym.

  • Just a note. All of the Canadians that I've met deny that they are from "America" because they refer to the USA as "America". Just a note.

  • Guys did you know that the world map we use normally is not to scale and is biased? When it was made in the time of the British empire it made the countries run by the British empire bigger than it really was. Anyway on the closer to scale version Canada's just norther. JUST! :) WOOO!!! Go Canada!!

  • @Bloodshotshatterbone Yeah that's not true....

  • This video is geographically inaccurate. The US Virgin Islands aren't in the middle of the ocean, certainly not the Pacific Ocean. I think they were thinking of American Samoa.

  • USA = United States of America

United States of America = United States of AMERICAN CONTINENT

    so

    USA ≠ America

America/ The Americas = All countries situated in the American continent

American = person who lives in America/American continent

    CONCLUSION:

    USA ≠ America

    as

    France ≠ Europe

  • We're the most populous nation in the Americas. There are more Americans living in America than any other country.

  • @ObadiahtheSlim Cool fact. That doesn't make the USA "America" though.

  • @4evaFranyify Yes, but they're not.

  • ...I did not know north and south America was different continents.

  • @Scionwoods Hahaha, but seriously, do tell me you're kidding, right?

  • @Canuckchick52

I am serious, I thought since Mexico connected north and south America it would mean that their is just one continent, America.

  • @Scionwoods The education system in the States must really be going downhill........

  • @Canuckchick52

No, I just always thought a big piece of land surrounded by water is a continent. I always had bad grades in geology.

  • @Scionwoods That subject is called geography, not geology. Geology is the study of the earth, like studying minerals in the soil. Geography is the study of land, inhabitants and so forth, so that's where studying what countries go in what continents would be catergorized.

  • Sup canadia!

    -an American :)

  • @thesephantomeyes Having a good time up here :) How are you doing down there?

    - A Canadian :)

  • America was the first country to be independent in the Americas. It's entirely fair that "Unitedstatesians" get the name. As for continents, it's "North Americans" and "South Americans".

  • im american

  • I enjoy music to

  • Fuck all you American CUNTS!!!!

  • @Elricck Hey! We, Canadians, don't talk like that!

  • @Elricck Seriously, that's what you say to them? Who cares if they're a different nationality, show everyone respect.

  • @Elricck Seriously, that's what you say to them? Who cares if they're a different nationality, show everyone respect.

  • @Canuckchick52 canuks provoke yanks, yanks provoke canucks in return. all the cnuk vids here on YT, insulting and disrespecting americans....have you seen any American vids disrespecting cnuks? maybe like 2 of them, where on the other side of the coin there are 100's of ASSHOLE canadians telling the US to go fuck itself type vids (proliferating daily). what goes around comes around. Oh well.

  • @Elricck I know, I wish it was different and we just showed each other mutual respect. Unfortunately there are jerks in every country so I guess you just got to learn to ignore their disrespectful and belittling comments. Sure, there are differences between Canada and the States but they're two of the most closely tied countries in the world and we just have to stop this incessant bickering.

  • it's kind of a given name more than something Americans came up with themselves. I travelled with Canadians around Europe and would always specify that I was a "US American". The Canadians on the other hand would tell people they weren't American. One time my buddy specified that he was not from America, but Canada, and the Italian pizza vendor simply said "same thing, same thing". I found it rather funny.

  • there is no such place as AMERICA just like there is no such thing is DAKOTA or KOREA.

  • This song is so true. I hate it when people refer to USAers and Americans.

  • This was hysterical XD

So does this make Russia Europeans or Asians..?

  • What does it mean to be canadian ?

It means that you believe people are not capable of governing themselves through independent government that controls it's own currency and stand by in stunned silence while the prime minister declares that he porogued the parliament for months on the orders of an unelected 'official' to avoid questions about war crimes commited by canadian troops.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=HB780oK6F9M

  • Well, this is one reason I've always referred to myself as a "USer" (Yoo-sir).

It's short, it uses a proper abbreviation for our country, and it's properly descriptive. After all, the USA has the highest per-capita consumption.

  • lol :)

  • Call us whatever, we're still AWESOME!!!

......I really want to go to Canada now.

  • Why do all canadians wear plaid? he's like the third canadian i have seen in plaid today

  • @Dzubur93 not all Canadians wear plaid I mean sure my brother wears plaid but not that many people wear it it's like every 1 out of 100 or something

  • @Dzubur93 We dont...... our culture is allmost the same as the United states we just have a litttle diffrant goverment system and a voteing system also diffrant education systems and health care( we do have both universal and private health care.)

  • @MegaVenom777 Different*

  • Hey I'm neither nor.

    Just happy to be around.

  • you know, i do think the term "american" should apply to everyone, i mean heck, we're just the "united states of" meaning we're a part of america, not that we ARE america. so how is it that the term "american" came to address only those in the united states? i dunno, it just seems more logical that it should fit into all the americas. not just the states.

  • americunts would be a justifiable name for you all..

  • As a U.S.-American, I LOVE this song!

  • Watched this on Canada day~ <3

  • I always say I from Texas

  • Well of coarse Americans are going to call themselves American, how stupid

  • How did the USA stole the name of 35 different countries in North and South America?

  • @Bozewani Maybe because the US was the first independent nation in the Americas?

  • @badgernation74 this is true but if it wernt for Napoleon the United States would have been reconquered by the English empire. With the forces of first gen born Canadian troops.

  • @spartoolius Is this really what they taught you in school? I know the Europeans were occupied with their own wars, but that was a large part of why we faught to be free of them. They didn't consider your troops to be first gen Canadian - you were British subjects. Could they have reconquered? Probably, but once they got our resources, the N. American colonies were always a lesser priority in every way. And yes I understand the irony in that based on current US - Middle East policy.

  • if you tell people that your are from america instead of canada then they think you are from the usa---baddddd iddeeeeaaaaa!!

  • what really bugs me, as a Canadian, is when Americans say they are from "America". We call it the "States" in Canada.

  • @sheleftmalfoy I say i'm from the states!

  • @sheleftmalfoy Wait a minute. It bugs Canadians what we call ourselves, so we should go by what you call us instead? How is that not as arrogant as you accuse us of being?

  • @sheleftmalfoy It's because the formal name is the United States of America, so it just happens.

  • @sheleftmalfoy true

  • LMAO SMH

  • LMAO SMH

  • americans just stole the name

  • When he was about to say "Were sournded by Americans" I thought he was going to say "Were souranded by idiots"

....I'm such a great American XD

  • @AzeCluzt I think you mean great USAer.

  • My country is in Europe but is not European.

    Mindfuck.

  • @CroGamer002 Do you regard Croatia as Asian? Colour me confused. :-)

  • @CroGamer002 Croatia is European

  • @Bwmz

Not if you ask some people, since we're not in EU.

And no, they actually do say we're not in Europe do to that. Elitist snobs.

  • @CroGamer002

europe has nothing to do with the EU

if that were the case we'd also say switzerland isn't european

    -greetings from germany

  • @iGourry

I know that, just if you ask just snobs we aren't.

    Kinda failed joke here.

  • @CroGamer002

well i never head anyone saying croatia isn't european

and well... you're lucky you're not in the EU just look how one nation after another breaks down and has got to be saved...

  • 203 people are USaires.

  • most concious song of the year

  • go canada...... america sucks they have no health care....

  • If your american before you go into the bathroom and american when you come out what are you when you're in the bathroom? ...European!

  • why are the red indians left out??

  • more like AMERICUNTS!

  • @SHOCKER331 shut up u fkkin CUNT. :)

  • Technically, everyone from Canada down to Argentina are Americans.

  • I am so CANADIEN. Go CANUCKS!!!

  • WTF? UNITED STATSIANS? AHAHHAHAHHA lol shut up! get over it we are AMERICANS! and all the people part of the U.S.A are AMERICANS. and all ya people are canadians, mexicans, brazilians, and so on !!! ok DANG!

  • Comment removed

  • There are no penguins in Antarctica.

  • @SazVlogs are you crazy... antarctica is FILLED with penguins... theres no penguins in the north pole...

  • @MastaFred Oh, right, that's the North Pole. -.-

  • this song makes me feel good to be canadian :)

  • France <3

  • americans got one really big ego stuck up their arses

  • @Alexandrea45J Naw, its too big to fit up there; we have to stick it up everyone else's :D

  • @Alexandrea45J It takes one to know one you idiot. Just remember, Bon Jovi & Alan Jackson are American. Are their egos stuck up their arses too or did you just make a blanket statement about the good ole USA? Do you know the meaning of a sweeping generalization? Oops wait a minute, you "liked" a video about how to use a tampon. I digress....

  • @Alexandrea45J

    No I don't.

  • @UofLCardFan08 i don't really mean the people i mean the goverment but yes i have some american friends that need to pull ego out of the arse

  • who is they?

  • the reason native americans dont like being called Indians is because they dont live in fucking INDIA!!Dumb assed european sailors thought they were in INDIA!

  • @SHOCKER331 Hey... think about how Indo-Canadians who have to call themselves South Asian feel! WE'RE THE REAL INDIANS AND THEY STOLE OUR NAME!

  • Actually the name came from the fact that all the states wanted to be separate nations and couldn't come up with a name so we just said that because the war was done and we'd look kind of stupid without a name for our new country. "Yeah, that place...over there...The one that made the heart attack on a bun known as the Big Mac."

  • i'd glady join the penguins :)

  • To cut to the chase, it's North Americans and South Americans for continental dwellers. And if like me, you have Mexican friends and friends from South America, you must remember that Mexico is in North America, so you should refer to them as your latino/latina friends. Also, Native Americans prefer being called First Nations or Natives but not Indians. That does not include the Inuit, who dont like being called Eskimos. And Quebecers in Canada consider themselves Quebecers first..simple...

  • Canada ... we're sorry we were greedy fails and copy-catted the continent name. It's just because we weren't creative enough to come up with anything else. :)

  • i love canada

  • geez that would piss me off, being called "American" though not a citizen of the USA. But shall thee do? Call them USAsians?

  • @TakiroChan United Statsians and USAers.

  • @TakiroChan French has the demonym États-Unisienne I think =)

  • @MagicMrNameless Spanish is

    Estadounidense

    or Norteamericanos

  • @MagicMrNameless

Yeah, some people call them "Américain[e]s" but others prefer "États-Unisien[ne]". I prefer the latter.

  • yeah unitedstatians are assholes

  • @joedgordon1 WE ARE THE BOMB! literally.

  • Holy balls, it's only a song. Everyone chill.

  • @ViralKira Apparently the internet is serious business, right?

  • TROLL--MASTER FAILURE

  • actually you are americans. You are from North America idiots.

  • @panqeqita2bOo Fail troll is fail.

  • @rationalization2 actually James Woodward invented the lightbulb

  • @TMNTPIZZA I hope when you say "James," you actually mean "Henry." Henry Woodward, along with Matthew Evans, built the light bulb that Edison eventually modified to create his now famous version.

But in actuality, neither Edison nor Woodward can be credited as the inventors of the light bulb, as ol' Humphrey Davy (an Englishman, mind you) got there first by inventing the "arc lamp," the predecessor to modern bulbs, in 1806.

  • @andrewm153351 that light in your house was invented by a Canadian that phone you use was invented by a canadian that has in you car probably came from Canada ever read superman when u where young? Canadian

  • @TMNTPIZZA If you imigrate to America, you're no longer Canadian. IE, Superman.

  • @TMNTPIZZA Also, Edison was American, Swan was British (Light bulb), bell spent as much time in America as he did in Canada for the telephone, Elisha Gray was british if you'de rather say they got it first. Bell was the closest thing you could get to Canadian and he didn't even spend most of his working life there.

  • I'm a Unitedstatesian.

  • and the us debt is what?14-15 trillion so then the debt to gdp ratio is close to 100%.

  • It's funny: "The United States" doesn't really define the USA- for example, there's the United States of Mexico- and "America" doesn't really define the USA.

    XD

  • get me outta the USA!!!!!!!

    i'm canada bound!!!

  • hey "society of patsies""you still the pivot man in a circle jerk for your outfit??

  • usa is great if your rich!!!outa 330 million people how many are rich?idiots!!

  • @xraven777x I...no honestly. What?

  • haha like penquins xD

  • I like the part: "We are surrounded by Americans!" Aha-ha-ha!

    Peace...

  • The US Virgin Islands shouldn't be called American or even virgin

  • Proud to not be American :)

  • the usa picked such and original name for their sadsack country--fucking genius!!

  • It was already called the Americas, and we named our country The United States of America.

  • one day the usa fall will beg to be a a part of a geater canada nation.. and then they will be made eat fries with cheese and mayo.

  • @bs22343 Telephone was invented in Brantford Ont, home of my brother and of Wayne Gretzky. It's where Bell's famous "Watson, come here" was made.

  • @CapricornMomo95 You said you were ignorant by saying you didn't know much about Canada....

  • @blacbraun Okay, i got over it, i don't want to talk about it anymore. This debate is very petty.

    I'M SORRY!

  • Also USers (I like that one too) are called American because they were the first independent country in the America's. Everyone else was British or Spanish etc

  • @Otox No It's like the example in the song , what if France decided to call itself Europe. I think a lot of other European countries would think that a bit.....arrogant..

  • @blacbraun And rather nonsensical, since the name "Europe" appears nowhere in "French Republic." I think you've entirely missed the point.

  • How many times in the last year have you had to refer to yourself As your continent?

  • YOU ARE: A CUNT :)

  • lol good job on the video, and i love the song :D :D :D the arrogant worms r awesome

  • america is shitting it self with the largest open border with canada and south america canada is ready to invade and steal the americans cheese and clean the place up.

  • @willobi

  • dont say americans never lost a war they did vietnum and the 1812 when canada burned the wite house and there was another one

  • @gameexpert4543 Actually, Canada didn't burn down their White House, the Americans burnt it down because they were afraid Canada was going to burn it first, after they burnt York and Canada chased them home. 8I

This is probably where the rumors of Americans being stupid began, too....

  • @MasterSoulThief .... no canada did burn the white house, lol. USA werent even in the city when canada marched in and they burned the white house, the capitol I think, and some other government buildings.

  • @MasterSoulThief we totally did! te american came up here thinking that we didn't want to be british and that we would join peacfully (hell no) and then a war happened for like four years during which america burned York and then we went over and kicked their asses by burning the white house. nothing happened after that and we got the last hit. in my mind CANADA won the 1812 war.

phew, glad i got that out:)

  • @SummerPaw the fact is the Canadians and British burned down nothing. The American forces did in fact burn down York, however, when British troops marched on Washington, the American troops looted thier own capital and started most of the burning. The Brits showed up to toast bread and make tea. Meanwile, up north, the Canadians, who had successfully claimed back the city of York, got busy on perfecting Lager Beer and started goofing around with something called Hockey.

  • I guess they would have that many casualties when you drop 7,000,000 TONS OF BOMBS ON THEM!!!
