@davidshek Sweet! Lower pitch is definitely better to the ears than lower sound level. Now I just need Musician's Friend to give me some credit. Maybe by Christmas. :D
great review- Just got a dual zone 10in.. Having a rough time having it register EVERY hit. weird But it 'double registers' and sometimes 'no registers' unless hit exactly over foam center. I cant even get the rim to register- !! I'm using a yamaha DTXII. No sensitivity knob on this pintech...so would you think I can adjust the brains sensititvity to get that crsip sound you're getting..I hope so....
I love the pads on my electronic drum set. Half the price of the Roland pads (the good ones) and quieter. Unfortunately, my brain started on fire first time plugging it in. I don't really like the DM5.
@EliteFetishist This video is not comparing Ion pads that have been mesh-modded. This is comparing Pintech and Roland e-drum pads. Very different story.
@EliteFetishist I just put the Pintech Mesh to replace the Mylar Replacement heads for the kit, if you wanna see the Mylar vs the Pintech Mesh, and vs rock band MetalWorkz mesh.
I was wondering if the Roland PD-80 or PD-100 mesh pads would have the sensor in the center like the ConcerCast does, based on how they are designed and thus registering better center hits. What do you think? Also, would the PD-100 be a good size for the ion kit? Thanks.
@trypwned The PDX-8 doesn't have the sensitivity adjustment because every Roland module has a sensitivity adjustment, so they expert the user to adjust it via the module.
@trypwned Thats not for sensitivity. Thats for adjusting the tension for the mesh. If its adjust too high, its gonna break. If its adjusted too low you get shitty triggering. All mesh pads have this.
@TheLameBEAVER The Roland mesh is slightly more durable, since it is doubled layered, but as far as I know, you can use a pintech pad with roland mesh by just swapping the heads out.
Could you tighten the head on the pintech to get that same sort of rebound you get on the roland?

HopeDrums . com has the best price on these! If you find a lower price, I'll beat it!

David, I'm looking to scrap my GWM mesh head drumset and build up an ION.
Could you tell me what the sound/pitch level is compared to the GWM mesh heads?
AlanHallJr 1 year ago
@AlanHallJr The pitch is lower than the GWM heads, and the volume level is about the same, maybe even a bit quieter.

Hi davidshek i know your video is not showing the same thing, but i still need advise to choose between these two meshs for my mod.
Do you think take one mesh or the other will not make any difference on my case? Or you can't tell, period?
Thanks anyway!

Nice job.!!! I'm pickin' one up !!! 'specially since it seems to out perform the Roland.!(sounded like alittle DT at the end..?)
BigBearVids 1 year ago
@BigBearVids Nope, not DT, that was Wounded Soul, same song that was in the intro. But I'll take that as a compliment! :)

Hi davidshek
I'll have to mesh-mod my Ion stocks pad cause they are way too loud and my familly complain about the noise.
Wich mesh do you think will be the quietest? Roland mesh or Pintech Silentech Mesh?
According to your video,Pintech seems to be the quietest but according to PMSPandaa's "Pintech Mesh Ion Mod! " video it seems to be the opposite (?!)
Thanks!

@geesechops The PD-80 and PD-100 have centered sensors just like the ConcertCast. The PD-100 would probably be a bit heavy for the Ion's rack.

Hi, for when you do a review of the roadie kick box? Please
LinkDS 1 year ago
@LinkDS I've already filmed it, just need to finish editing it and upload it. Should be soon!

Great review! I have one of these (bought it used), but it's so heavy my bracket likes to slide down after a little use. Doh!

If you adjust the roland pad, No hits will be missed.

iciclepyro 1 year ago
@iciclepyro No, I wasn't talking about sensitivity. Theres little clamps that you can use the drum key for adjusting. That does help sensitivity.

@iciclepyro Well, I have the ion drum rocker. Now i use my TD-3. When i was using the ion drum rocker with the PDX-8, I had no misses.

they look really nice but how durable are they compared to the rolands... the rolands seem so much more heavy duty?? i want those pintechs SOOO BAD

Hey David, would this work on a Yamaha mount? If it helps, Yamaha uses a hexagon shaped mount.
iciclepyro 1 year ago
@iciclepyro Yamaha uses hexagonal racks. It fits on all L-rods
malcolmgetscrazy 1 year ago
@malcolmgetscrazy Let me rephrase that, Is the mounting hole on the pintech hexagon shaped?
iciclepyro 1 year ago
@iciclepyro It doesn't matter, as long as the hole is bigger than the mount you're good

@malcolmgetscrazy thanks dude

Awesome review David. I think Pintech hit the nail on the head with these drums. They are an awesome product with an even more awesome price.
The heads are also easily replaceable. I've got them in the store if you tear one down the road.
